I always thought the Y-Wing was Lando's to fly back.
I always thought the Y-Wing was Lando's to fly back.
I never picked up this book and am surprised to see that it's going for hundreds of dollars on ebay! When did it go out of print and why? Anyone know?
here's some news...
On a different note - the FSK that rates movies here in germany has tested some more material from the upcoming Blu-Ray Set:
Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (Blu Ray Version) (New Edition) 125 Minutes (24 fps)
Star Wars Episode II - Attack Of The Clones (Blu Ray Version) 142 Minutes (24 fps)
Movies that are released again on a new medium are only reviewed by the FSK if they are indeed altered versions or different cuts. LotR for example has not been reviewed again for it's Blu-Ray outing...
Furthermore on Disc 7 there is something called "Boba Fett: First Look" (8:39 Minutes)
That's the Boba Fett-Cartoon from the Holiday-Special I think...
Well, shit.
Looks like my whole plan is up in flames. The A&E documentary is going to be included in the upcoming trilogy bluray set.
That's really weird. I heard nothing about this. Thanks for the info. Very interesting.

I'm not gonna do LD-DVD transfers, that's not what I was shooting for. What I COULD do is capture the Laserdiscs I already have and post the raw captures on Usenet for OTHERS to use in their projects. My current pet project is not SW related, but I love this community and I wanted to contribute somehow.
Plus - I'm afaid I can't capture AC3, I don't have an RF modulator.
How are you going to capture and in what format?
Has anyone made artwork for all three documentaries in one package? I'm thinking of re-authoring so they're all on one disc.
Same problem here. I have to use firefox. :(

There was a recent screening of RotJ in the NYC area, that could be why LFL tracked/shut this one down, they might have heard of the other screening and after some quick searching this one came up.
really? where? I never heard anything about that.

George Lucas may have crossed over to the Dark Side.
In a move worthy of Darth Vader, Lucas' production company plunged a lightsaber through a long-planned "Star Wars" movie marathon at a Brooklyn bar.
Organizers claim Lucasfilm's legal stormtroopers fired off a cease-and-desist order just two days before the event.
Organizers of the 13-hour screening, which had been slated for the Wicked Monk in Bay Ridge on July 3, promptly called it off.
The order cited copyright infringements and added that there was a moratorium on public "Star Wars" screenings.
Mike DeVito, who promoted the event through Facebook, Twitter and a blog, said he was blindsided by the Death Star-like attack -- grousing in true "Star Wars" geek terms that "only a Sith deals in absolutes."
Lucas, he said, "has crossed over" and now gives Vader "a run for his money."
"I've seen the 'Star Wars' movies about 150 times but never in one long run together, and I thought it would be great to put something like this together for like-minded people," DeVito said.
He said more than 200 had been expected to attend the marathon.
"What bothers me most is that they waited until the last minute to notify us, so we couldn't get a chance to try working something out," he groused.
The order said the organizers couldn't show the films because they planned to charge admission. But fliers promoting the event say the only potential cost to patrons was for bar drinks.
Lucas' lawyers also claimed that DeVito and the Wicked Monk hadn't tried to get permission to use "Star Wars" material.
DeVito admitted he'd never thought of it.
"But it wasn't as if we were making money off it," he said.
Lucasfilm did not reply to requests for comment.
Still working on this...
The only discs I'm missing now are the two French discs for the first movie.
I'm upconverting the PAL material so that I'm not downgrading anything.
Once I've got all the material, I'll be happy to seed it wherever you guys like. So if anyone has (or knows anyone who has) the French material, please let me know!
The credits.

I often suspect that site is more for guys who wonder what the funny black bars are on some of their movies that won't go away on their widescreen sets.
They also haven't had anyone to taunt since the HD-DVD format died. ;)
Home Theater Forum is probably the last sane place besides here for intelligent discussion of these issues.
I'm much more a fan of AVS than blu-ray.com. AVS is much more informative whereas blu-ray.com is a bunch of blind fanboys.

I reposted Zombie's post from AVS over at Blu-ray.com and it's now been deleted, along with most of the posts i have made since i joined the other day. That forum is very one sided. It seems that anyone that has valid points about the original unaltered versions vs the constantly changing special editions will just get their posts deleted, but ones that are attacking the people who want the OUT or are typical Lucas gushers don't have their posts removed. I guess the mods their are either SE fans or too afraid of upsetting George.
And NONE of kenkraly's posts have been deleted, It's almost as if he has copied and pasted all the things he has said here and on other sites. Makes me wonder if their all clones of Kenkraly over there ;)
Blu-ray.com is great when you just deal with a select group of people. They claim to not be affiliated with anyone but I think that's bullshit.
Any update on this? :(
Zombie...
This MUST make you feel good.

You'll have to look for it on newsgroups.
That is too bad then i already pay an insane amount of money to my ISP, not paying for newsgroups.
Whenever someone posts it to tehparadox or a fileshare i will be interested.
Otherwise i will wait an eternity for the blu ray release.
Blu-ray's are coming next year.

Spielberg explains the Sword scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAgqXsbbFyA
Vic Armstrong explains it differently in his book. Harrison Ford says it was his idea.
Reminds me of 3 blind men describing an elephant.
None of them has ever been able to say definitively who first suggested it. To be honest, they've all pointed the finger at another. Steven says it was Harrison. Harrison has said it was George. George has said it was Steven. Who the hell knows.

I actually kept that disc and sold the others. :)
Is there any way to capture the trailers that you can stream from the Itunes store? I'm not talking about recent trailers. I'm talking about the ones that are available when you go to rent a particular movie. They have some real gems there that aren't available anywhere else!

Hauppauge is currently the ONLY way of doing an HD capture and, since I'm burning Blu's of the material, my only option.
The stuff that I've captured thus far looks identical, in my eyes.
Thanks!
I know it's been forever but I have a couple of Crystal Skull discs done but I'd like someone to test them out first before I officially torrent them. Is anyone available if I upload them?
Sorry to bump this thread but I'm actually looking for a PAL player.
Believe it or not, I'm looking to do a high bitrate capture of a PAL concert using my hauppauge. I'm sure that it's going to be impossible to find someone with a PAL player plus the laser PLUS a hauppauge PVR so I'm thinking I might have to do it myself.
Is the V4300D still my best option for that? I just need it to have great video quality...to get it out of the disc once.
Jambe,
i still have a TON of indy stuff that I haven't gotten out there. I mean, literally hours upon hours of stuff. Most of it is from Last Crusade and Crystal Skull but there is some Temple of Doom stuff. Very little Raiders (if any) that I can recall. For some reason, it doesn't seem like a lot was done for it...or archived.
