More dailies/deleted scenes in digital "making of" books...
Time

My apologies if this has been mentioned already but there's an article in the newest Star Wars Insider about the digital editions of the "making of" books that is coming out in the fall. It's mentioned that additional deleted scenes/dailies will be included in them.

Sucks that they couldn't be put into another boxed set. I'm reminded of the "Making Magic" set...

I guess we'll only have crappy quality versions of them.

I used to have it. I must have thrown it out, I guess. Unless I threw it in a closet somewhere.

DTS audio preservation .... UPDATE 07 May 2015 ... Work In Progress
Time

Saw this on LDDB about Evita:

"The DVD, Criterion LD, DTS LD and standard LD all used the same director approved video transfer. The DVD and AC-3 encoded LD's used a 16-bit audio master that was remixed slightly for home use. The DTS LD utilized a 20-bit master taken from the same master used to make the theatrical digital sound prints and thus the DTS Digital Surround LD sounds quite a bit different, and better, than the DVD and AC-3 LD releases. Because of the changes to the AC-3 versions, the DTS LD needs THX re-equalization for proper playback in the home while the other releases do not."

Would really love that DTS track.

Checked the disc. The interviews are contained in a 5-minute featurette, the disc also contains cast text biographies in the form of still images.

I don't think either of these extras appear on the later 3-disc Special Edition release, the VCI release is now out of print but you should be able to get it easily on eBay UK (the cover looks like this).

Thanks for the help! I just picked up the 3 disc for $5 shipped from the UK. I wonder if that featurette is the same as the Scandinavian disc entitled "Production."

How to capture HDCP-encrypted HDMI sources (Vudu, Netflix, Directv, Virgin Media, etc.)

Only recently, the HDMI boards have started showing up on eBay instead of just the import sites.

Are there any non-eBay sites (like the DX site -- easily available to the U.S. with normal credit cards) that carry these items? The HDMI 3D Splitter 1x4 looks useful and capping up to 1080-24p (including all the lower resolutions) should cover any future situation. Raw capturing is useful (especially for later editing), but unobtrusively compressed recordings, for later viewing with a minimum of fuss, is fine (in this ease-of-use scenario, HDMI for recording both video and audio would be best).

Only ... I can't determine which products produce "clean" signals for recording just by reading the minimal descriptions. Any pointers on what to look for?

Well, I guess it would depend on what you're looking to do with what? If HDMI is your only option, then I guess you'd have to use one of the cards listed here.

Otherwise, you can get the Hauppauge.
