Just found out that Marcia Lucas showed up!
Just found out that Marcia Lucas showed up!
Too bad it’s not at a convention. Then it’d be okay, right?
No. It’s not ok anywhere…but certainly more understandable there. I sure as hell have bought bootlegs before at various conventions before the internet became such a thing so I can’t very well point the finger at others for doing the same.
Well, now it did. 😃
Another fool selling…this time on Craigslist…
Well hopefully it will still be in HD… Still could be an upgrade in the picture department.
Well, it will definitely be broadcast in 1080i. They don’t downgrade the signal. But it absolutely won’t be any better.
The Comedy Central promo probably just cropped the shots they used. And since it’s pillarboxed, you don’t notice the loss of detail.
I also saw a post/comment thread on Zach Braff’s facebook page… He confirmed that not only will it be airing for this marathon, but it will also become a regular part of Comedy Central’s weekday afternoon lineup.
You should also check out this tweet, then.

It’s definitely not happening. He would know.
I can definitely cap!
But I wouldn’t count on it being 16x9. I just checked Hulu and they’re still 4x3
I wish I could talk to the admin at my work that way.
If anyone at my workplace called me a “dick” they would be fired and I’d own the company.
I’ll post the full article this weekend. Sorry for the delay
Did anyone ever see anything from this? Pics?
Thanks for all the effort you and others put into this, SilverWook.
Quite the embarrassment.
Why are you always such a dick? I’m tempted to switch the forum back to the original October 2015 layout just so you’ll rage-quit the site again.
Yay name calling. No wonder you like it. It proves what a bunch of whiney children are on this site.
You can bitch and moan about it being taken down but there’s no reason to keep it up. We look like assholes because of it and one person shouldn’t have been allowed to speak for the whole site without getting some sort of approval.
That was just one big pissy unreadable wall of text.
I see you went with the “giant wall of text” and didn’t bother to check it for grammatical errors.
That can only help our cause. sigh
What happened to the short and clean version we were all talking about a few weeks ago?
This looks like a tl;dr manifesto.
Agreed. Quite the embarrassment.
The Bluray is obscenely revisionist.
Obscenely? Let’s remember you’re on a Star Wars board. That is the bar for “obscene revisionism.” This is nothing in comparison.
All these years they never acknowledge that the special edition of JEDI was kind of a dud, at least compared to Star Wars. It doesn’t fit with the whole “special edition-phenomenon-was like 1977 all over again!” narrative that has been the party line.
It mentions how Empire and Jedi were really an afterthought and the plan was really only for Star Wars. I should probably just post scans. no?
The special editions also required gross professional incompetence on behalf of the new editor. I mean George.
It’s odd because, in the beginning, they seemed to have the best of intentions to just cleaning it up, according to the article. And then…it just became Frankenstein.
So… Is there anything in the issue that actually celebrates the 40th anniversary? Or is it all about the special edition?
Believe it or not, there’s not a single thing in there about the originals…or dedicated to the original release. 😦
For those who aren’t subscribers…some portions…

Wow, those are VERY low bitrate for 1080i/1080p.
But they’re using AVC. Here in the U.S., they’re not even using that yet. Ridiculous
Yeah I mean lots of people are lazy pieces of shit it’s nothing new.
I wouldn’t call them lazy pieces of shit but ok.
I’ve been to a horror con a few times in recent years, and it’s a mix of legit titles, region free discs of unknown origin, (at least to me) and then bootlegs of films that have never seen a legit release, and workprints. All really depends on the seller.
The bi monthly comic con I used to attend up in L.A. back in the 90’s was the Mos Eisley of bootlegs though. Got my first copy of the Holiday Special there. A smaller local con I attended in 2002 had at least one seller brazen enough to be offering an AOTC VHS bootleg that was probably shot off a theater screen.
But that’s what I’m saying: it’s not “brazen” in the least. It’s commonplace and expected. That’s the way it’s always been.
Are you kidding? All people sell at booths like those are bootlegs. Why do you think this should be the line drawn in the sand? That’s the way it’s always been and that’s the way it always will be. Either you’re a noob to conventions or never bothered to check out those types of booths. None of it is official, even if it’s been officially released.
This whole ad needs to be cut DRASTICALLY.
Simplicity is key.
They’re well aware of how we feel.
Anything is possible. Would 4 track have been mentioned in newspaper ads the way 6 track Dolby was?
Would there have been a different mix for the initial re-releases?
Thanks, that also worked for me.
Just don’t forget to visit settings and untick “Enable Product Search” to turn off their Adware. 😉
JEDIT: I celebrated prematurely - I made three download attempts and on every occasion, the 1280 x 720 video was unplayable, despite trying five different programs. On subsequent attempts, it is impossible to download any version of the video using the plug-in.
It worked perfectly for me 😃
So what’s the best version out there of this, at this point? Anyone know?
