With that (vague) statement Kennedy unintentionally advertized Harmys Despecialized Editions. That guy who sells them illegally on ebay will have a prosporing business year. Even the prizes for the GOUT DVDs could rise further.

Not to derail the thread, but how is he able to sell those on ebay without any repercussions? If it’s that out in the open why make people jump through so many hoops to download them?

Repercussions from whom?

Released 25th of July. To accompany a theatrical re-release ?..

That’s what my hypothesis was in this thread. Or was it another? I can’t remember.

It ties in with the July 28th “random” Disney movie that still has no name, trailer, etc.

The July 28th movie is almost certainly not Star Wars related. It simply said “untitled fairy tale.” Fox owns the distribution rights on ANH in perpetuity. It’s highly doubtful that Disney would have a movie they’re not even releasing listed on their slate.

Maybe something has happened behind the scenes that we don’t know about? Anything is possible. It might not be JUST ANH. If it’s all 3 originals, Disney would have to work something out with Fox.

sigh That’s going on the twitter.

I was looking forward to a special double issue or something. But, alas, no. There will probably be more Rebels interviews. Maybe they’ll interview the people who did the effects work on the Special Editions. sigh I feel like Disney is now out to get rid of the original versions as well…

Want to see the very definition of a “screw you” to fans?

Here’s the ad in the back of the newest edition of the Star Wars Insider. It’s promoting the next issue that hits newsstands on May 23rd, 2 days before the official 40th Anniversary.

And what is the main thing they’re talking about? The 1997 special edition re-release.

They might as well put a big middle finger on the cover.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but…

I think it’s been mentioned here that the “Saga” Blu-Ray sets have been mysteriously dropping in price the past week or so, but to add to that, the digital versions on iTunes also had a very rare drop in price just today, the day of the panel. Like, just a few hours ago. The last major price drop was iTunes’ big end-of-year sale in December, and nothing really before that. Why would they discount the films on the exact day of the panel if there wasn’t something related to home media whatsoever? It’s not like most iTunes shoppers would know about the convention and connection otherwise…

It’s not just iTunes. It’s all digital platforms. Vudu has each movie for $14.99. I can’t remember them ever being that low

Help: looking for... "Home Alone 2" - Seeking 35mm/16mm print for scanning

I can’t offer any help with obtaining a film print but I’m very much interested as to why you feel the H.A.2 Blu-ray is poor quality. The only information I’ve been able to find so far are here: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=12922453&postcount=69 and then very briefly, here: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/2548/homealone2.html

Can you elaborate about the problems please?

What about the HDTV broadcasts? Are they an improvement or have they been sourced from the same master?

Like many on the forums have complained the film has a ton of grain and the bitrate is really starved compared to the Home Alone 1 release. The colors look dull, nowhere near the way I remember seeing the original in theaters. I’ve recorded several HDTV broadcasts, and I do have a 10gb HBO capture that I would rate as being a little better but they clearly still haven’t done a re-mastering of this film. It’s a shame too, considering this would be the 25th anniversary.

The import is on a bd-50. It’s not bit-starved at all
