Iron Man 3 - 5/5

I would go as far as to say I liked it more than The Avengers.

I wouldn’t go 5/5 but I really enjoyed it. I didn’t read the comics so the Mandarin switch was funny and charming. The whole PTSD and Tennessee stuff was gold IMO. Age of Ultron and IM3 are often hated on but I think they’re both pretty great. Age of Ultron has some pacing issues and a slightly overcrowded plot but I think it’s a incredibly fun movie.

Worst villain: The Emperor
Time

I think the emperors lines are fun to quote and all but I think people have raised good points. The emperor constantly acknowledging that he’s evil and that Luke has to be evil is somewhat dissapointing in comparison to the opera scene. I think I actually might say that episode 3 sidious is the best portrayal in the saga. New makeup would be nice though.

I understand why people wouldn’t want to or even have the ability to download a 20 GB file. They might not have the bandwidth speeds needed, their ISP may shut them down, they might not have the storage space to spare, etc. So I don’t think there is any harm in offering a lower quality alternative. If it’s encoded efficiently by someone who knows what they are doing and clearly marked as a re-encode there’s no problem with it. It will still beat the hell out of the GOUT or a Laserdisc and we want as many people as possible to have access to the OOT right? Not really much of a “preservation” if only a handful can get ahold of it.

I would love a copy of these, it would be amazing. I would like to make a suggestion though.

For your special features, you should add Jamie Benning’s Star Wars Begins, Building Empire, and Returning to Jedi filmumentaries. Perhaps also the collider commentaries. If you had those, it would be definitive for me.

I fully agree. Those are my 3 favorite docs for Star Wars and Collider is just amazing. Again, all users on this site would love tuning into Jedi Council each week.

Just look at the capital R from the title cards for TFA and ESB. completely different

Edit: the text in the article is different from the shots from Adywan. Which is right?

Definitely ady’s. The pic in that article is fan made (notice “Has” and “Vanished” capitalized).

Ady shows that TFA and ESB’s font’s are damn near matches (looks to me like they’re the same with TFA’s just a little thicker).

It’s funny how people are going crazy over this small detail and calling it wrong when it isn’t really You’d think if people were being nitpicking about small details they’d notice a small detail like ESB’s font being “wrong” too, even though it was the first film to have a subtitle. This article even shows the two side by side but never once realizes they are the same: http://www.slashfilm.com/the-force-awakens-opening-crawl-is-wrong/

I guess when JJ and co. decided to “try very hard to duplicate” the original, they had some crazy idea to duplicate the font of the film that originated the subtitle. How dare they?

Also not entirely sure but I think ANH might have the same font as TFA and ESB. Which would mean of course that the three best movies have it so everyone should shut up about the other four as if they’re somehow more “right.”

I think it’s cool how the crawl for certain movies is different.

Other than Yoda’s lightsaber duels, all of the lightsaber duels in the prequels were brilliant.

No. The only somewhat-good duel in PT was Jango Fett vs Samuel L. Jackson

I suppose Anakin vs Obi-Wan since it had some emotion in it which kinda helps it

I can’t believe you leave out Duel of the fates. One of the best of the saga.

My one request: edit Jar Jar Binks out of all of the sequences on Tatooine. With his high-pitched voice, his constant clumsiness, and his cartoonish face in almost every shot, it is difficult to enjoy the movie.

It may or may not be possible, but it would make the movie a thousand times better.

Also, I like the chosen one prophesy, and I have a feeling it will be referenced in Episode VIII. Luke may have traveled to the first Jedi temple in order to research the prophesy. Additionally, the Jedi Order is a religious order with mystical powers, and a belief in prophesy is consistent with that. So I would not cut the prophesy, especially since it is likely to be referenced in future Star Wars films.

He has done extensive work on redubbing Jar Jar to improve the character. Please don’t make such outlandish rude requests.

I fear that to get a version under 5 GB, you will have to find the software to do it yourself. I personally like files about 1 GB (small enough to load the entire saga on my phone) to for portability and for color checking, but I really don’t expect others to do the work for me.

+1. Just download handbrake and do it yourself.

Estimating the original colors of the original Star Wars trilogy
Time

One of the things I use to judge the accuracy of any color correction is R2’s blue panels. Now, they don’t come out quite the same in every scene that was shot, but in the sources I trust, they are always blue, maybe leaning to a dark cobalt. So when I see a scene that shows R2’s with a greenish tint to him, I am convinced that it has been over corrected toward the green. One thing that tends to cause corrections to lean that direction is the skin tones can turn out too red for some tastes, but I’ve found that in the reliable reference photos, the skin tones when shooting in Tunisia were a bit red. When I correct the skin tones just based on the set photography, R2 usually stays blue and the people look a bit pink, but not the magenta of the Lowry HD work. This is my color correction of the UK GOUT:

Note the lack of green in the sand crawler and Owen’s hair as well as in R2’s blue panels. I find this color pallet to be my favorite.

I definetly like these colors a lot 😃
