Iron Man 3- 3/5

Overall, this was a fun good time 😃 Many classic one liners, RDJ energy runs high and Shane Black delivers a nice continuation of the MCU. My biggest complaint is SPOILERS RELATED!

WARNING SPOILERS-RELATED THOUGHT BELOW:

I felt that the reveal that the Mandarin was really just Trevor was IMMENSELY dissapointing. I was legitimately scared of him by that point and thought he had so much potential. It’s like halfway through TDK it’s revealed The Joker really is a paid actor who’s actually pretty chill and normal. Then some business leader comes out and says “I’m the real Joker!”, when really you just wasted the character and your just a new forgettable villian. That is one thing I wish they chose to handle differently.

SPOILERS FINISHED!

All in all, I thought Iron Man 3 was a good ol time that doesn’t serve as much as an Iron Man trilogy finisher but rather a bridge between the two first avengers films. Keeping in mind my one big flaw, I give Iron Man 3 a strong 3/5. It’s a real fun watch to have on Christmas that’ll leave you walking away with a smile 😉

Man of Steel Spoiler Discussion
Time

I recently rewatched Man of Steel and the AMC spoilers review with John Campea, and I must admit…I agree with Campea. I loved it. I still have flaws with it but am curious why everyone hated it so much. Basically this is an in-depth review thread for such a controversial film that I happened to really like. Any others agree? Did you hate the film? I’d love to talk. Below are some flaws that come to mind for me:

-The early pacing is a bit of an issue. The passage of time during the krypton scenes is hard to follow.
-After they destroy the world engines, the scene of Lois and Superman kissing feels forced and tonally inconsistent in comparison to how much horror the world engines had just caused.
-The ending scenes after the final battle don’t expound upon Clarks grief after killing Zod. It seems everything gets packed up in a nice bow all too quickly. I do love however the “welcome to the planet” moment haha.

Interesting idea, but I don’t think it would work because the audio is indeed configured incorrectly inside FCP7. I’ve tested the solution and it will work. Thankfully there are few places in the timelines where it goes more than two levels deep, so it shouldn’t take an enormous amount of time once I can get to it.

Awesome news Hal! Glad you were able to find a solution 😃

X-Men: First Class (2011) - 8/10

Far better than I remembered. Love the dynamic between Charles and Erik and the action scenes are thrilling. Unlike the first X-Men, all the characters are well developed and contribute to the end battle. Apart from some ropey CGI, Michael Fassbender’s wavering accent and the villains slightly clumsy motives, I love it.

Kevin Bacon is also hilariously fantastic, nearly as good as Ian McKellen was in the first.

EDIT: Wolverine’s five second cameo is also one of the best things ever.

This entire review explains precisely why I think this is the best X-Men movie and the only one I would say I really liked.

And agreed, wolverines cameo goes down in history as one of the best IMO.

I know this is all seems trivial to you, but I want to see if I have writing talent. I want to know if the last months of my life thinking about stories were wasted. I mean, come on, I don’t mean to be annoying. I’ll look at as many alligator pictures as you want if you just give the third draft a quick read and a 1-10 rating.

I’m sorry to break this to you, but I simply don’t care about fanfiction at all, and the point of this thread is not to spam it with yours. Fanfiction belongs in the other subforum, and you can’t make people care about it if they aren’t interested.

In all honesty, I completely agree with Frink.

So what channels do I delete for commentary? The bottom one?

The commentary should be on a completely different track. Hal’s V4 COD edit has three tracks (the edit, the edit minus added pod race music, the commentary). The first two tracks are 5.1 and have 6 channels. The third track is stereo with two channels. Delete the third track and one of the others depending on whether you want the extra music.

Again, I’m just giving broad strokes. Consult google and FE.org to figure out the specifics of your system if you need to.

Ohhhhhh I know the problem!

It’s not that I’m seeing multiple channels, it’s that once I import the edit, it shows up with all the channels as seperate mono tracks. Hopefully this helps you understand my dilemma. I wish it was just three tracks like you explained. I’m using Sony Vegas Pro 13 if that helps. Thanks

X-Men (2000) - 6/10

Most characters are criminally underdeveloped, especially Cyclops, the action scenes are mostly lacking (apart from a very fun sequence involving Toad), and it tries to be overly gritty even though the premise is ludicrous. The CGI has dated considerably as well. But that being said, I love the relationship between Wolverine and Rogue, and between Charles and Erik. I liked most of the movie, so I guess that’s enough to recommend it.

Someone shares my opinion haha! Overall I found X-Men to be pretty subpar, X2 was alright, X3 was awful, both wolverine movies weren’t much, first class is my favorite so far (still not amazing) and Days of future past was alright.

Iv just never been a big fan of this franchise.

Idea & Info: 'Batman V Superman - Dawn of the Edits'

That’s not a bad idea. I also would be interested in seeing a “no kill” version of the movie, where nothing is changed except that Batman doesn’t kill anyone. Personally, I think that this movie (even the ultimate cut which is significantly better) has some major issues, but right now I can’t think of a way to edit around them that doesn’t feel forced or create other problems.

Indeed. I disliked the theatrical cut but thought the ultimate edition was a night and day difference similar to Jon Schnepp from Collider. Having a no kill batman wouldn’t be too hard.

I’d like to show my younger brother the improvements of the ultimate cut so a PG13 is a nice project for me to do. Besides replacing action scenes and losing the F Bombs, do you think any other content could be cut for censorship? Burned bodies? Lady pushed in front of train? Idk, kinda reaching here to make sure is not too harsh for my younger brother. My mom won’t allow him to see R Rated yet, so this has to convincely feel like PG13.

Do you guys know the best software for me to mash up Hal’s Ep. 3 with L8wtrs and Q2’s. I’d like to exchange a few parts of Hals with these other 2 edits. I have Power Director 12 and Sony Vegas Pro 13.

I’d just like to do seamless transitions between the edits, (I know how to color match) and then export a nice and tidy 5.1 audio 720p file.

I would recut the editor commentaries for a new commentary track that I could mux in.

Octorox any help? Or Hal?

It’s mainly just matching audio sources for a suitable surround sound export format.
