It seems they’ll be screening A New Hope today. Still hoping its the theatrical
The Crusades are a go-to thing to complain about.
For good reason.
In all honesty, from what Iv read, it doesn’t interest me much. The banter between the Knights of Ren and Kylo is kinda cringey. Sorry, you were begging for opinions…even if they’re negative.
HUH? I cut out that scene… 😦 Or are you counting Snoke as part of the Knights despite there being no actual Knights.
EDIT: Prequels that cover the fall of Anakin and the Republic are inherently flawed for doing so, so there’s not much interest for me there. Are they good enough that I can learn more about screenwriting by reading the treatments.
I wholeheartedly disagree. The fall of Anakin is a great story to tell if done right. If it were executed better than it would make certain events of the OT that much more emotional. I think most of us can agree that we wish the prequels were done better with such an amazing premise. The fact that (IMO) George kinda fucked up that story, makes it all the more dissapointing.
EDIT:
I do enjoy Hal’s cut of Ep.3 and will watch it every once in a while.I have another thread for this. Please stop being offtopic before I passively agressively do unto you what was done to me on Lord Haseo’s suck thread. I, at least, was ontopic then.
Asshole.

This is the mindset that irritates me. You can’t take historical documents and evaluate them based on today’s moral standards and then wonder why they aren’t as pretty as John Lennon’s Imagine.
I’m pretty sure the merit of a deity’s moral code should be immune to the passing of time. Pretty much if his morals were right then they should be right now because he’s God.
EDIT:
Also I’m sure it was Al-Qaeda that brought down the WTC
+1
And moviefreakmind, the point isn’t that the man killed his son. It’s that he was going to kill him in the name of the God.
Frink is right about religions promoting hate. As a ex Mormon I found many of our principles promote hate. Though we say to hate the sin and not the sinner, if the sin (homosexuality) is inherently apart of that persons identity then you can’t cover up the fact that you are promoting hate.
This is why religion is harmful to society. People will justify crazy actions because “God” commanded them to do so (ISIS). And now we are seeing certain Christians apply this thinking. Religion hinges on throwing logic away. The bible preaches that you should show trust to Gods commands no matter the consequences. For example, God commanded a man to kill his own son to prove his loyalty. Apply that on a 21st century basis. Some old crackpot Christian says he will kill his son to prove his allegiance to God. That is some sick shit.
Most of Gods actions in the Old Testament prove how much of a asshole he is if he exists.
Concerning this “meager” existence debate…
I recently have gone through a conversion from a Christian to an Agnostic. I don’t wanna go into that except that I now believe that since the human race is ultimately doomed my best thing to do is to maximize my happiness in life and to help maximize other people’s happiness in life. I go to school and get good grades to eventually get a good job that I feel helps the world. I’m currently aiming to be a doctor and have all A’s and plenty of extra curriculars.
Being a doctor (sports Doctor specifically) would help people do what they love. I hope to have a family some day and think it would bring me a lot of true happiness. I also make a huge effort to donate to cancer foundations as much as possible. I read books, listen to music and watch movies a lot because they bring me happiness (when the content is good). I like to go on runs because it keeps me fit.
Being kind, loving and passionate about maximizing everyone’s happiness in life is a worthy purpose of existence in my opinion considering the human race is doomed to die off eventually.
I think your a kind and awesome user Haseo, but have to disagree with you on this one.
Could you post a vimeo clip of your most recent edit? Very interested.
Patience. He will upload when he is ready. A lot of his goals are very time demanding and we don’t know how busy he is.
Density was right. Don’t buy the 2004 DVD’s.
Why would you replace a good movie with a good movie?
I think the real wish would be to replace a good movie with a great movie.
Very excited for the 3 minute trailer rumored to be shown on the 15th. Do you guys think Vader will be in it??
Just his breathing? A line from James Earl Jones? A look at the new suit? Both?
I’m getting more and more exited for Rogue one. Reshoots were always a part of the plan.
EDIT: U-Wing design is pretty rad 😉
I decided to pass just based on their opinion of MoS. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
There’s many others who don’t like it. Just try Collider Heroes, I really think you may like it.
Saw the Ultimate Cut and still very much have grievances.
I’ve been tinkering with the already-released digital version and come up with TWO(!) slightly different edits. I didn’t want to change the film too much, as I wanted an edit that would still make sense with future movies (hence no, lopping off endings or leaving out too many subplots). To those hoping for a more radical change, both of these are, for better or worse, still Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman. They are merely given another editing pass for clarity and cohesion.
Both of my edits are built on two chief premises:
Restructure the film (primarily in the first half) for better plot progression. As many here and elsewhere have complained, the movie, even in its Ultimate Cut iteration, feels quite disjointed and occasionally overwhelming, cutting between different characters that have not previously been established. By far the biggest change is pushing back the Africa sequences. The events of the last film are now the inciting incident and Africa serves as a so-called point of no return. Furthermore, now, we have an inkling that Lex Luthor is manipulating things behind the scenes already.
Omit certain sections in their entirety, including the Knightmare sequence, the future Flash cameo, and the murderous Batmobile chase. In cutting these, it helps bring back the notion of a Batman, who has become cruel but not outright homicidal. From interviews with Zack Snyder, it seems that an outright murderous Batman was not quite his intention.
The differences between my two edits (each running about 2 and a half hours) are as follows:
Batman v. Superman - The Final Cut - the less radical of the two edits. This mainly focuses on the two goals above. Like the release cuts (theatrical and ultimate), Batman seems to be the de-facto protagonist, if there indeed is one. This was my first version, but, in my mind, it had one major issue that caused me to create the second version.
Man of Tomorrow - this helps refocus the movie into an outright Man of Steel sequel. The only two storylines tracked in the first act are Superman (the clear protagonist) and Lex Luthor. Nonetheless, Batman’s spectre is felt. In a classic ploy to draw audience attention to a certain character (From Russia with Love/The Third Man), we keep hearing about Batman, but we don’t get to meet him until 23 minutes into the movie. This remedies my issue of how the released film efficiently set up Batman’s motivation, only to perplex audiences by seemingly ignoring the motivation and having Batman look for a “dirty bomb.”
If anyone’s interested in testing them and owns a copy, PM me. I definitely would like opinions on which of the two cuts work better. I’ll recreate the “winner” in full Blu-Ray when that release comes out.
I’d be very interested in looking at the less radical version! 😃
They call their Star Wars show by a prequilism, they like MoS and we’re supposed to watch?
Nah.
They hate the prequels and the SE’s. They simply named it Jedi Council for marketing, nothing related to their opinion of the prequels. Seriously though, check em out. You might like them

I understand you on BvS. I’m curious to hear more about Man of Steel. My opinion is similar to Jon Schnepp and John Campea
I can’t speak for him, but Snyder’s version of the Man of Steel insults me to my very core. He’s an angry, whiny, sadistic fool with no regard for human life.
Man of Steel features a “hero” whose parents tell him that people suck and should possibly all just die. “Superman” takes that advice to heart and never tries to help anyone but his girlfriend in the final battle, and then in the aftermath of the chaos and destruction, he leaves to cause even more by smashing a satillite for fun, rather than helping the survivors of the mess he made.
BvS is actually kinda fun if I see it as a corny, over-the-top parody of Frank Miller. If I take it seriously, which Snyder wants me to do, it’s a disaster.
EDIT: I just realized that Snyder’s Superman is just weaker Dr. Manhatten. He only cares about the human he can have sex with, and the rest can die for all he cares.
Also, I don’t know who Jon Schnepp and John Campea are. Should I?
Jon Schnepp is a huge comic book/movie nerd who is on FilmHQ, Collider Movie Talk, and he hosts Collider Heros (comic book movie talk show). He’s funny and very knowledgeable in comic lore. He was a big fan of Man of Steel, hated the BvS theatrical cut and thought the Ultimate Edition was a vast improvement.
John Campea is head of FilmHQ, former head of Collider Movie Talk, and is on Collider Jedi Council (Star Wars Talk show). He loved man of steel, thought BvS was ok, and thought the ultimate edition was a small improvement.
I really recommend you check out shows like “Schmoes Know”, “Collider…Movie Talk, Heroes and Jedi Council”. They’re free on YouTube/Podcasts. Schmoes Know is on Fridays, Heroes is on Wedsdays, Jedi Councils on Thursdays and Movie Talk is on every weekday. I listen to them all on my podcasts app. Basically any movie fan, Star Wars Fan, Marvel Fan, or DC Fan would love their content. I’d bet most people on this site would really dig their shows.
And half the reason I listen is because of the people. Kristian Harloff, Jon Schnepp, John Campea and Mark Ellis are great!
Made a few more tweaks, and am rendering a new version of the clip. Instead of putting the entire speed chase clip on youtube, I have a 1:30 min section of it and uploading a link to the clip download here. It’s a BD-compatible M4V, so you can preview it on your television, though I intend to use a better renderer for the final product, since Media Encoder isn’t the best.
Looks Gorgeous! 😃
Maybe so, but it does callback to the ROTS duel (for better or worse…) and it could actually make the scene feel more dramatic? Maybe?
Check out Adywans ANH Revisted. Not only did he re edit the fight to be more fast paced but he rescored it with “Battle of the Heroes”. There was an outcry but I really loved the change. You might enjoy it too 😉

Frink can be very funny a lot of the time to be honest. His prequel edits are hysterical and I often find his posts funny. But I must agree with what some have proposed that Frink gets a double standard to a certain degree. I’m not going to start a flame war because of my opinion. I just have seen many get banned for very small reasons. Then I’ll see Frink do something, like hurl a direct abortion insult at a user. Even if it was darthld, still…Frink is being a hypocrite. I recall, maybe it was the user “Density” (a respectful and all around nice user IMO) said the word abortion in a non-offensive, non-aggressive manner. Then Frink just lost his shit. A clear example of a double standard that users are overlooking. Most likely because when people do point it out, they go crazy and start a flame war despite a truthful initial statement. I think a couple pages down, I saw another nice and friendly user (LordHaseo) agree that Frink does have a double standard. I’m just thinking of rare examples of calm and nice users who have this problem. Many people who share this opinion of Frinks actions though, act like trolling assholes themselves. I agree with darthld and ImpScum about Frink…but they’re terrible forum members and basically start havoc and constantly troll everyone.
My list:
- Tie between ESB+ROTJ
- ROTS
- ANH
- Shadows of the Empire (Not a movie score, but whatever)
- TPM
- TFA
- AOTC
ESB/ROTJ:
I watched ESB and Jedi the most as a kid, so I picked up more favourite pieces this way and they stuck with me the best. My favourites from ESB are Battle of Hoth, Attacking a Star Destroyer, Yoda and the Force, Leia/Han’s theme, Boba Fett’s Theme, that-one-choir-bit-as-they-enter-Cloud-City and Clash of The Lightsabers. ROTJ mostly reused older pieces but I do enjoy Den of The Rancor, Sail Barge Assault (and it’s alt version), Emperor’s theme, Farther and Son, Battle of Endor 1-3 (specifically A Jedi’s Fury) and Victory Celebration.ROTS:
What do I need to say? It’s an all around amazing soundtrack, not as memorable as ESB or ROTJ but still damn good. Favouite piece is Battle of the Heroes (who would’ve guessed) but Goodbye Old Friend is a close second (Battlefront 2 feels).ANH:
No need for explanation really, it’s the daddy of them all, it stands the test of time. Has some atmospheric, emotional, fast paced and all around exciting pieces. But once you really start to get into classical music and listen to composers like Holst, Tchailkovsky and Korngold then some of the original magic is lost. Favourite pieces are Imperial Attack, Leia’s theme, the Stormtrooper motif, Detention Block Ambush, Shootout in the Cellbay (so underrated) and Battle of Yavin.Shadows:
A soundtrack for a book, I guess they really didn’t have anything better to do until TPM came out. Mcneely nails the John Williams feel, his version of the main theme is easily my favourite. However, while the pieces themselves are good, they simply aren’t as memorable as the ones we’re most familiar with. Often in these tracks there are long, quiet, barely audible periods of score with nothing interesting about them. But even then, these are almost forgivable since The Destruction of Xizor’s Palace just might be my favourite SW composition ever, everything else in this soundtrack just sorta pales in comparison.TPM:
I honestly find this soundtrack kinda overrated, sure Duel of Fates is a great piece but now it’s become incredibly overplayed like Imperial March. Battle of the Heroes was just an all around better piece in my opinion. There also wasn’t that much I liked in this soundtrack anyway, besides the Trade Federation March, Flag Parade, The Tide Turns and Augie’s Municipal Band.TFA:
I’m mixed on this movie as a whole, but I ultimately found the soundtrack the most disappointing aspect of the movie. Rey’s Theme, Kylo’s theme, March of the Resistance and Jedi Steps all stuck with me after I left the theater, everything else was just… there.AOTC:
Across the Stars.
That’s literally it.
Your AOTC summation is perfect LOL

Oh come on, no one on this site is not a Star Wars fan, whether you call yourself one or not. If you weren’t a fan you wouldn’t even care about practically anything discussed here. You might not be a fanboy, but you’re a fan.
True. How in depth we can get on this site is pretty astounding. What’s even more astounding is how much I care about it haha
It’s great there’s a website though like this where there are other fans who like Star Wars to that degree 😃
I hope i am not spamming your thread njvc. let me know if i should move this elsewhere.

Same here! 😃 these modified versions of Phils cases are my favorite covers ever.
Look to CWBornes prequel treatment. It’s pretty strong in my opinion.
