A character oritented episode 8 is exactly what I want.

What? Focusing on the characters for the second part of a trilogy? Huge Empire rip-off. Worst movie of all time.

Aren’t all SW movies focused on the characters ?

Nah, the first and third of the trilogy always go “pew pew pew, ROOOAAAAAAAAAR”, plus fuzzy creatures fighting along the heroes in part 3. If anything with a fur appears in Ep. 9, it would be such a Jedi rip-off and the worst movie ever, also the good guys winning would make it basically a carbon copy of Jedi.

Exactly.

Empire is an objectively better movie than Star Wars, world building be damned.

It is most definetly not objectively the best. I also think Empire Strikes Back is the best but for many others Star Wars is the best.

It’s like saying out of all the Star Wars fans out there who think Star Wars is the best versus all of the fans who think Empire Strikes Back" is the best, only one of these two groups is truly right. Your proposing that all those legions of fans who think Star Wars is the best are objectively wrong. You believe your opinion is a fact. That’s what objective means.

There was a divide among scientists on what was in the center of the universe, the sun or earth? Out of the two groups one of them was objectively correct. Their opinion is fact. Applying this to something subjective like art is nonsense. Though most people enjoy similar things about movies (good acting, witty script, stunning special effects etc.) it doesn’t mean that EVERYONE likes those aspects equally in the same importance. Some people interpret things differently. Some people will dislike how a character is adapted to film while others will like it. Some will think that a certain storytelling decision enhances a movie while others might think of the decision as a strength. Basically, if film is objective, then there is only ONE definitively correct evaluation for every movie. I rest my case.

Rian has given us a plethora of new info about Episode VIII. For starters for the first time in the Star Wars Saga this film will begin right where the last one left off. I think this is perfect because it is uber important to see the first interaction with Luke and Rey. Though I would like to see a time jump within the film that shows the ending of Kylo’s training and the continuation of Rey’s.

Aside from that Episode VIII will be very character oriented. Our characters will be developed even further and will be challenge immensely (which coincides with what Oscar Issac said earlier this year about the characters being tested). So for anyone who thought Rey got it easy in TFA will not need to worry because like Luke before her she will go through her trials and tribulations.

This bodes very well for the film and I am even more excited to see it.

I love his comments. A character oritented episode 8 is exactly what I want.

Obi Wan and Luke Convo with music
Time

I have tried adding music to a very important scene yet lacking emotional impact which is when Obi Wan and Luke talk on Dagobah in Return of the Jedi. I added some music from the prequels which is subtle but timed nicely and I think fits in well. I’m revising my full edit before release and am testing this particular edit out.

Please give feedback. Thank you everyone!!!

I really want the fox logo and fanfare. I’ve added it to my custom force awakens edit and is iconic. And if we want the true theatrical versions then the fanfare should be the same.

Out of curiosity, which logo and version of the fanfare did you use in the edit?

I took the fox logo and fanfare from ESB Despecialied 2.0 (the retro/vintage one) I do this with Hal’s prequels, ANH Revisted, and my own ROTJ edit also. It gives a sense of consistency across my marathons and the old fanfare is my favorite! 😉

Why not? To not further the sock belief?

What part of “no-one cares enough to see you post about it” do you not understand?

Well, I couldn’t understand because nobody said it.

I believe it’s said to you 3 to 4 times a day about various other things you post.

And not everything you post is like that, sometimes you have good ones. Its just that there’s so much crap.

Accidental double post. My apologies

I fondly remember when Anthony Daniels said that he thought episode 7 was the best script of the saga.

Though I like it a lot, I agree with Haseo in that it’s not as good as ESB (IMO).

You tend to forget that if ESB might be the best film of the saga, ANH still has the best script. ESB is “just” a sequel; ANH is a builder of worlds.

Just because ANH does a lot of world building doesn’t mean it is a stronger script. ESB does crazy world building itself. It is the best script in my opinion too. I just fucking love ESB. Chris Stuckmanns review nails it. It perfectly represents why it’s my favorite movie of all time.

Ghostbusters (2016)

My biggest fear, based on the trailers, was that there would be a ton of gross-out humor. Luckily it was all in the trailers. The humor was mostly spot-on, the cast was solid, the cameos were fun, the sfx was fine, and Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth stole the show.

My wife agreed with all of the above, but also said it was great to see women talking like actual women, not wearing sexy outfits, not going undercover as strippers, not being catty, and not being ditzy.

I think when they’re a little older, my daughters will LOVE this.

8/10

Interesting review! Many surprisingly are enjoying this. I’ll make sure to check it out 😃

Sure, but I was thinking of Hitler himself, who was raised Catholic. I don’t really consider the individual soldiers in the German Army; I’m sure most of them weren’t aware of what they were fighting for. As for most of Hitler’s SS thugs, I don’t know what their religious identities were. The problem I have with your definition of Christianity is that there are sects that elevate the Pope or Joseph Smith, for example, (I hope Ender can elaborate on his views) to the level of near-divinity. The Pope takes the title of “Holy Father”, which is only used in the Bible to refer to God himself.

Joseph Smith is certainly not elevated above humanity in Mormon teaching.

“Praise to the mannnnnn who communed with Jehova…” ( sang that many times as a child)

He is quoted as saying he even elevated himself above others. He said not even Jesus could match the work he had done (restoring the church).

Mormons most certainly elevate him, and I would know after 15 years from birth in the church. Active family with father who served as bishop and stake president. All my siblings have gone on missions. Religion breaks apart families. My parents will die thinking they failed me. They’ll die believing that them and my sisters will live on forever but that I’ll be in hell. It’s a sick and despressing reality.

That’s the one reason I can say I hate religion. It has been the cause of a lot of sadness and pain for me. No matter how far I go in school, how much I help people or how good of a person I try to be each and every day, because I don’t believe Joseph Smith restored the church I will always be seen as the most ultimate failure in my families eyes. Religion cut me deep and I don’t forgive it for doing so.

<strong>STAR WARS: REBELS</strong> (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

Just saw the trailer and it was GREAT. I know I’m gonna get ripped on this but I think I got more excited with the season 2.5 trailer. This was awesome but a lot of the true excitement stems from Thrawns re introduction. I haven’t read Zahns post-Jedi trilogy so it wasn’t a huge deal for me when they revealed him. I have a basic knowledge of him though and have nothing wrong with his character so far. He looks great and I’m very excited for him.

Rebels season 3 will have the chance to give a lot of fans a character long missed. But it will hopefully introduce many fans to such a beloved character like myself. Overall, I’m keenly awaiting season three with big hopes and plenty of excitement 😃
