A question to the posters here regarding TFA
Time

DuracellEnergizer said:

I think TFA is as good as ROTJ; that is to say I believe it has good production values and some nice character moments, but still find it woefully derivative of the original film, making it a very unsatisfying, largely mediocre experience for me.

That’s the exact feeling I get when I watch the special edition of Return of the Jedi.

Why Do MARVEL’s Movies Look Ugly?
A good video that I agree with very much.

That is the biggest probpem with the MCU. The bland music at least is kind of fun to listen to, but I’ve never liked the cinematography in the MCU.

Someone should do a regrade of civil war. I suck at color correction but it sounds like a great idea.

In addition to what Harmy said (which I agree with), I’ll add my two cents on the issue. Our commitment to purchasing the Blu-Rays before downloading any of these edits/scans/whatever is a sort of a gesture of goodwill toward Lucasfilm/Disney. Kind of like, “Look, we know you guys (and Fox) own the stuff, and we want to support you, the owners, but we also want to enjoy these movies in different ways.”

This is put perfectly.

“Introducing Jyn Erso” Featurette

Not a lot of new stuff here, but I did find this one BTS shot both interesting and weird.

In addition to the fact that those weird red-hooded monks that we saw a photo of earlier will very likely be a bit more than just background characters, there’s also some camels. Just regular real-life camels, nothing fancy added to them that I can see. I guess they might replace them with some CG creatures, and the SW-universe has had regular birds, lizards, snakes, etc. so I guess this isn’t that strange. Any thoughts?

For some reason I just don’t like the idea of camels in SW.

Update (Version 10!)
So taking something Poita and Willrob mentioning to me into consideration about the green snow and the green ending credits, I realized I actually could adjust the hue even more, throw up the saturation levels still high but then back off the red channel considerably. It might not be “accurate” but I really enjoy this version.

Thoughts?

This is the single most beautiful treatment I have ever seen this film receive.

This is my new standard. How can it get better than this? I don’t think it can. As far as I’m concerned, this is my new benchmark.

I agree that this improves upon the Grindhouse but still my favorite colors for this film are from Harmys ESB 2.0.

And it’s hard because I enjoy the fanedited prequels but hate episodes 1 and 2 in their theatrical form. Since that’s all that most people know, I always have to remember to tell them that I hate them and don’t mildly enjoy them (when fanedited correctly by people like Hal and L8wtr).

That’s a hard one for me as well. I legitimately enjoy the prequels as fan edits, but I have to usually just say I hate them. Explaining to somebody fan edits usually isn’t worthwhile or worth it.

It’s frustrating whenever I tell someone I enjoy Return of the Jedi. They automatically assume I enjoy Jedi Rocks, Vaders “Noooo!” And Hayden’s ghost. I have to proceed to a lengthy explanation of the versions I watch (Theatrical) and how they also are what was originally released in theatres.

The medicine does seem, at least tentatively, to be helping somewhat. I’m still on edge sometimes, and frankly, I’d like to increase the dosage, but after three weeks or so, it seems to have started taking some effect. I could still feel a lot better, and still think that getting back to where I should be isn’t possible, but I’m glad for small victories, anyway.

Great News! Keep with it 😃

Ok. So there is an Empire Steikes back version out there somewhere. Does anyone have any information as to where I can find it?

Team Negative 1 has done a 35mm grindhouse scan of Empire Strikes Back. It is really done well despite some questionable colors.

If you were to download it, as always just make sure you have already legally bought the blu-rays for the films.

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread
Time

I’m currently watching the live facebook video that a Collider News reporter is doing (Steven Weintraub). At Skywalker Sound, many reporters were shown 28 minutes of footage for Rogue One. It sounds like it’s the first 12 minutes, and then a couple complete scenes from the first act, then a quick montage of some second-third act action. The footage has received nothing but positive feedback. Everyone says that it is very gritty, which surprises me in a good way. K-2SO is also a big hit so far. The twitter feedback and Weintraub’s live feed of gathering responses after the screening is really promising. A couple people are saying it is already better than Force Awakens in their minds because it is an isolated story with no jedi, and it supposively does it so damn well.

More than pumped now! The premiere is gonna be crazy 😃

UPDATE:

Though Michael Giacchino only had four weeks to complete the score, it is getting glowing responses too.
