Sounds, well… sound! Thanks for that. If you are already carefully crafting a good execution of the transition, would you be willing to share a lossless version for others like me?
As usual, I want everyone’s projects to be the best possible; all I’d do is try to ape what it sounds like you’re going for.

Yes of course. Any major change I make and people want, I’ll be exporting lossless copies with full surround sound. Collaboration is key.

Don’t have access to my computer for another week cause of spring break so after I get home I’ll upload a clip but here’s what I’ve done:

The first thing I noticed was at the beginning of the wide shot of Yoda’s scene, the force theme is finishing its playout which started when Luke watched as the Falcon went away. I made the force theme transition now in its full form. To do so, I color corrected and reversed a shot of the island from earlier in the film, and extended the other establishing shots. This gives a nice, soothing return to the island for such an important scene. This required a rebuilding of the sfx and I currently am trying to smooth out the musical transition as much as possible but I’m close. I also have added a wipe.

The transition from the end of the Yoda scene to Crait will be much easier and quick to pull off. It’ll involve extending the final shot as well since I like it so much.

All of this combined with Ridley’s work on Yoda’s face will really elevate this scene’s role in the film in my opinion.

Only issue with the deleted scene is that IIRC, you can tell that Luke is inside his hut during the daytime and not at night which is the time that his scene telling how he contemplated killing Ben was taking place at.

I thought of this too, it’s far from perfect, but when we cut back to Ach-Tu after Luke’s duel with Kylo, it’s sunset. Then again, with your proposed edit of moving Yoda’s scene to after Kylo declares himself Supreme Leader (which is a terrific idea by the way), the Yoda scene is at nighttime. I’ll have to think about this some more.

I’ve done a solid amount of work on the transition from Kylo Declaring himself Supreme Leader to the Yoda scene. It’s getting there to being seamless.

EDIT: Now to think of it…a slight zoom and color shift for the Luke Has a Moment scene might just do the job.

Zodiac (2007)

Has many great scenes but overall it was somewhat disappointing. The historical integrity of the movie in all honesty got in the way of telling a good story. The pacing got pretty bad by a certain point in the movie. I really loved the first hour or so and then it just dragged and dragged. It picked up a little towards the end but overall, not a favorite of Fincher’s. Seven just did everything about this movie so much better.

No its humor and star wars should never have humor. Remember how serious Han Solo was all the time?

To be fair, most of the complaints about the humor revolve around the humor not being funny. That’s different than complaining about there being humor.

Precisely. The humor in TFA was handled much better in my opinion. The jokes were just much better placed and didn’t detract from certain emotional moments like some in the Last Jedi. And some of it just plain isn’t funny.

If you are using Premiere and having issues with exporting audio transitions, then I would try just key framing the problematic transitions instead. I have had issues like that before and that solved it. Not sure about other NLE’s though.

Yeah, that’s what I’m going to have to do. I’d say 95% of my audio transitions are keyframed already and the other 5% are using transition effects. Never had this problem before (which is weird, I literally use Premiere everyday) so I didn’t think anything of it, though I guess I should have just stayed consistent in the first place.

That’s good to hear you figured out the issue. It is quite annoying of an issue and sometimes will just pop up out of nowhere. I also can’t seem to find a source for the issue and all there is on the web is simply the keyframing solution.

Great, great movie. Wonderful building tension. Well written character arcs. Chilling atmosphere. Overall, I really loved it. Can’t decide if I like this or Fight Club more. This maybe felt more well crafted but the uniqueness of Fight Club maybe takes the cake for me.

EDIT: I also must add that these are some of the most disturbing murders I have ever seen on film and I am not quite sure how I will fall asleep tonight.

Wow. That’s highly offensive to any other film series. Michael Bay projects are a special level of awful all unto themselves.

I’m just going off what I see in trailer snippets on TV. It looks like a Transformer movie to me.

Too clean and shiny for Transformers where you can’t tell where one robot starts and the other ends.

Now, Power Rangers is the perfect comparison to make from the trailer.

I can help build in some sound effects and help with the audio but we might differ in the specifics of how we handle it. Cause personally I want to somehow fit in the music that happens when Luke accepts the saber in the original cut of TLJ. It’s quite good and lines up well.

For me I don’t mind if the music doesn’t line up perfectly, it doesn’t take away from it to much. Personally once this edit is done it will be my “Episode 7” I’m planning on making a new crawl with The Lost Jedi title. I’ve been thinking of doing some re scoring as well. If it would be possible to get battle of the heroes to play during the throne room fight in TLJ would be awesome, as well as getting dual of the fates during the forest battle of TFA.

Ha, that’s funny to hear since I’m using Duel of the fates for the throne room fight 😃

That sounds cool though! Looking forward to the rest of your work.

nor this is a brilliant / good / awful / bad judgment of the article - just that it had some intriguing thoughts and takes therein.

That is all.

haaaaa

Aye, not bad for someone with ‘obvious double standards’ for posting an article in which the quality or of it was not mentioned/commented upon at all - and one you seeming haven’t read yet going on ‘From Dre’s cited text, looks like an god awful, elitist article’.

I did read it, and it is an god awful, elitist article. Not for defending TLJ obviously, but for the utter contempt it displays towards a part of the fan base. I didn’t find those very intriguing thoughts and takes, more like insulting to be honest. There have been articles posted here on TLJ, that were harsh on the film (not on the fan base), that have been treated far less kindly than this one.

The double standard is evident.

Like I said, I have run into pricks who treated my opinion with a lot of contempt for liking the movie but it seems that on OT.com that oojason as an moderator constantly jumps in to defend the movie against any critical opinion or crack down on people linking to critical articles/videos. Just in general, it seems that there is a bias and double standard against people who are critical of TLJ. This is coming from someone who loves the movie.

Wow, that’s pretty damn good! God, I wish we somehow had a shot of the saber falling at Luke’s feet…

Yes to this. A shot of the lightsaber falling is the one shot that just needs to be there. Or even easier, just a static shot of the lightsaber on the ground. I have an idea for that but would need a lot of visual work to be done and it is past my capabilities but in the shot of the porgs looking at the saber, if you could somehow paint the porgs out then it would serve as a perfect shot for that purpose. Then you could have Rey pick up the saber after Luke walks past her.
