Most Baffling Complaint of a Star Wars Movie

No maybe that all the lead characters are still white (Rey, Kylo Ren, Luke, Jyn Urso). The racially diverse characters are pushed to side characters. And I should include the directors who have all been white men.

I agree to an extent, although “side characters” is unfair to Finn, Poe, and even Cassian. Yes the leads are all white but Star Wars movies always have more than one main character.

Sure, it’s an improvement but I just find it frustrating that they haven’t had the balls yet to have a person of color as the lead character.

I’d say though that they were essentially positioning John Boyega as the lead of TFA during the marketing of that film (or at least as much the lead as Daisy Ridley).

Yep, but I quite clearly remember how I felt a little misled by the marketing after I saw the movie since Finn was not the lead. And it got worse in the Last Jedi. Finn I feel has kind of gotten not treated with enough respect as a character. He was soooo interesting and in all honesty, one of my favorite things about TFA.

I agree on Cassian but The Last Jedi took Finn from a main character to more of a side character in my opinion. I bet he will get more spotlight in Ep. 9 though.

The Last Jedi- Full Movie Re-Edit
Time

Same. Some things like Ackbar just won’t work but I actually have a lot of faith in the saber fight.

My personal plan is to take just a few bits and pieces of his new fight and combine them with all other original footage of the fight. So it would feel more real and less odd to watch a long fight from one angle. Doing that, along with some new epic music, would go a long way to helping the scene IMO.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - The Dark Cut (* unfinished project *)

Question for everyone:

In my revamped scene of Finn’s speeder getting shot out of the way, do ya’ll prefer the music cutting out right as he is shot or having the music extend afterwards? The two preview clips are below.

Music Cuts Out Earlier: https://vimeo.com/264181374
Music Fades Out Later: https://vimeo.com/271413864

It’s just a fun alternate version that I am putting out alongside the regular version of the edit. Who knows, episode 9 might be terrible and this could be retconned in my head as the conclusion of the saga, or maybe ep. 9 can be edited to accommodate Luke living.

Really, it is just a fun alternative to the regular release of the edit.

It’s absolutely lazy and ties into my last post about how I think Disney has not really committed fully to diversity. Which makes it funnier to me when people complain about the SJW agenda of Lucasfilm. Literally look at most of their casting and creative assignments and then it becomes apparent that they like to just barely add in some diversity, while not getting too crazy.

XXTELECINE 7XX: The Last Jedi 2.0 Minor adjustments (Released)

Sorry for any misunderstandings I am having with the clips.

I do notice that you made Luke’s blade thinner in the flashback comparison, it’s just in the second youtube video, the examples shown look thicker than I remember. I am most likely completely wrong but some basic still screen shot comparisons might help.

Again, my apologies for my crappy memory, I didn’t mean to act like I was ripping on anything. I am a big fan of your past work!

Fun fact: Movie studios aren’t as progressive as we think. They are corporations who want to sell toys. Notice how all the lead characters in the new movies are still white (Rey, Luke, Kylo Ren, Jyn) and usually it is the people of color who slowly are pushed to become side characters (Finn, Rose, the rest of the Rogue One team).

Not to mention that still every director has been a white man.

“Let’s show that we are progressive…but not TOO progressive!”

And by the way, Lando being pansexual makes perfect sense to me.
