Solo: A Star Wars Story — Official Review and Opinions Thread — SPOILERS
Time

I also want to hit on how Han Solo really has no consistent development in the movie. I did not see a big arc for him in the movie. And when he said “No, I’m a terrible person”, I was just flabbergasted. The whole exchange there was trying to paint Han Solo in this jaded anti-hero way, when really, in the context of his actions in Solo, there is absolutely no reason to see him as anything else than a good guy. Not even close to an anti-hero, or the roguish, jaded Han Solo that we meet in A New Hope. It felt like the movie was trying to shove it down our throats that yeah, Han Solo is jaded and not a good person!

And how stupid is it that Solo is basically the one who helped jumpstart the Rebellion at the end of the movie.

Sorry for my complaining, I genuinely understand how people enjoyed it, but many aspects of how they dealt with Solo as a character felt off to me. I’d love to hear how some of you guys interpreted things differently from me.

Dude, be serious one second. The “let’s rewrite the crawl to accomodate every change” is a running joke on the fanedit section.

STAR WARS

EPISODE IX

THE LAST ORDER

Luke can project himself ACROSS THE GALAXY.
The BLUE AURA around him is NORMAL.
LUKE is NOT DEAD, I MEAN IT guys.
He’s even MORE POWERFUL.
Like Ben when he dies in EPISODE IV.
BUT LUKE IS NOT DEAD, STOP ASKING ME !

Meanwhile, the Knights of Ren have begun
the construction of a second STARKILLER BASE.
Little does Rey know that her almost boyfriend Ren

Solo: A Star Wars Story — Official Review and Opinions Thread — SPOILERS
Time

I also hate to be that guy, but this movie came off so dull and lifeless to me. This is just my honest opinion and I walked into it with an open mind, wanting to be as optimistic as possible. First I’ll say the things I like:

-Chewie and Han meeting.
-Kessel Run (my favorite scene in the movie)
-Card games
-Donald Glover as Lando (a little inconsistent though)

The rest of the movie on the other hand was a drag. It probably has the worst pacing of any Disney SW movie yet. I was so thoroughly bored that my mind was wandering to school at some points.

-The plot was such a nonsensical mess that didn’t grab me one bit.
-Why did we have to see a close up of the golden dice every two seconds in that opening scene?
-Again, it was just so boring.
-A romance that did not work one bit
-Recreated the Leia/Han kissing scene. And it was distasteful and just felt like plain pandering.
-How Han gets his name. This scene made my eyes roll into the back of my head.
-The droid L3 was such an annoying character that I wanted to cheer when he died.
-The Darth maul scene was just so out of place and pandering.

I could go on and on. I get why people like it. I absolutely respect your opinion and did want to give this movie a fair shot. It just did not work for me.

I present the ending to one of the alternate versions of the release…the “Skywalker Lives” edition!

If it ended on the binary sunset shot, for me it would be perfect.

Heck, even if Luke dies, the placement of this scene is great.

I will be changing it so it ends on the sunset wide shot.

Ways this ending can be used:

-Simply watching it until episode 9.
-Editing episode 9 crawl to imply that now Luke can project himself across the galaxy without dying. Makes him more powerful and a way to explain his scenes in 9.
-Or episode 9 is terrible and episode 8 is someone’s new head canon finale to the saga.

The Boba Fett movie
Time

James Mangold is a great director. He did have some studio interference on “The Wolverine” and the third act was altered quite a bit. He was going for more of a Japanese neo-noir tone but the studio instead forced a CGI filled ending.

Then Mangold got absolute creative control for Logan and look what we got.

The Boba Fett movie all comes down to whether it feels unique and different to all other Star Wars movies. It is a blank slate and I would love to see something like a gritty western. All in all, I hope Disney just lets Mangold do his thing.

Star Wars Trilogy SE bluray color regrade (a WIP)
Time

So if I’m following this correctly, your 4k77 regrade and the SE Blu-Ray regrade will both be LUT’s to apply over either 4K77 or Neverar’s Technicolor-Regrade of the Blu Ray? And they will both be shooting to have very similar colors?

If so, that is really awesome cause then someone can make their own custom special edition using your beautiful regrades 😃

The Last Jedi: Official Review and Opinions Thread ** SPOILERS **
Time

I watched The Last Jedi again, a full viewing.

All I’ll say is that I think my opinion has changed a lot. I kind of just felt empty by the end after mulling some things over in my head and absorbing it all with a fresh mind. I’m not sure how much lower my opinion of the movie is but I definitely am a lot more confused about how I feel.

I just need to go see Solo already LOL.

I don’t if most would consider it bad (as opposed to just not good), but I love Revenge of the Sith.

Yes most would consider it bad.

It’s odd cause most people I have personally talked to, would say they do not like the movie BUTTTTT…

Rotten tomatoes, IMDB, and Cinemascore all record an overall positive rating for the movie. So I guess most people don’t like it as I would have guessed.

Most Baffling Complaint of a Star Wars Movie

And cause Disney isn’t even close to pushing a propaganda. Correction, they only act like they stand for diverse casting.

I think what it is is that they pretend to be diverse by having a diverse cast, but behind the scenes it’s all white men.

No, look at my other posts clarifying what I said. My point is that a truly diverse and bold move would be having a person of color as a lead in one of the movies, which they have failed to do in addition to still only hiring white men as directors.

So yes, my point does apply to both casting and the choice of people behind the camera.

Radiohead - Motion Picture Soundtrack (early demo)

And now I don’t know if this or the Vitamin String Quartet cover used in Westworld is my favorite version.

I guess it’s technically just Thom Yorke and a guitar, not Radiohead as a whole, but whatever.

I’ll have to listen to all of these today since this is one of the most beautiful songs ever made in my opinion.
