Holy Shitttttt!!! So pumped for your edit! Even though I probably do enjoy some of the comedic moments more than you did that’s fine. Everything so far has been astounding. I like the Han scene so far a lot! The immolation music works wonders and I think you end it on the perfect point. Because I did like the amount of tension built when those last shots before he ignited his saber are silent. Now I do agree though with Haseo that the Return of the Jedi piece doesn’t work despite how good it is as a composition. I would maybe try something from ROTS like Order 66 which is pretty similar music. And cool color correction!

Do yourself the favor of watching Batman and Robin.

Worst film ever is such an over the top assessment of the film in my opinion.

Indeed. Don’t forget, I am not some tyrant declaring it law that ESB is greatest movie ever. I just was expressing how much I friggin love the froggin ESB!! But I respect all opinions because that’s what makes movies fun; they are subjective

My issue isn’t with the actual editing but the idea of preserving the twist. Since almost everyone knows it and it’s not that big of a twist removing an entire conservation with Snoke, and Kylo saying Grandfather is too much to sacrifice for preserving a twist. The Vader helmet scene is improved with the “Grandfather” line because it shows you what Kylos misunderstanding is when it comes to the legacy of his lineage. And the Snoke scene further deepens the pressure on Kylo to not give in. It lets us know Snoke personally addresses that Kylo better not shy away from doing what’s necessary. (Killing Han)

Your work so far is done with perfection, audio wise. With that in mind I absolutely love your first clip with TPM music. I thought it fit perfectly! The second one was again executed to perfection it’s just I still prefer the scene left untouched. You have made me have a change of heart about your edit idea of rescoring the movie and I want you to know I am extremely excited!!

Agreed about the cgi. Some star destroyer shots in TFA were pretty obvious CG but the star destroyer simply looks stunning!!

I think that I see why the boyfriend line doesn’t sit well with people. When Uncle Owen in Episode 2 introduces Beru as his “girlfriend” I thought it was kind of out of place, but I feel it establishes the young nature of Finn and Rey and it just doesn’t bother me as much. But I definetly would understand you taking it out. But Mazs crush on chewie is awesome to me haha.

Indeed. I do think at just a couple times it went overboard but when people say they will remove things like the game board and the training ball I just think that’s too picky. Like god damn those are simply fun references that don’t damage the movie and make me feel a little spike of energy in my Star Wars soul so I say keep em

Ooh and some extra music during lightsaber duel between Kylo and Finn might be cool. Not crazy loud but kind of epic background music like the last part of “Anakins Dark Deeds”

Work with Han scene. It’ll be a challenge but it would be a great payoff if done well. And I would suggest not cutting Snoke revealing how Han is his father. I wish I could but it makes the following dialogue extremely vague and confusing. It’s pretty much keep the whole scene as it is or cut it entirely. I would just keep it as is.

Just use machete order god dammit. Preserves ultimate emotional payoff while keeping Vader reveal a secret. And I do full machete order (with Episode 1)

Yah. I mean, it wasn’t a huge screw up but I definitely thought that it had the potential to be in my top three most emotional scenes in the whole saga but it seems it didn’t crack my top 3:

1. Immolation scene
2. Luke and Vader Duel (From when Luke starts raging until the end of the fight)
3. Order 66

And these three scenes are accompanied by amazing music IMO and Hans death scene had mediocre music at best IMO

Do you have any special plans for Hans death scene. It’s essential and doesn’t pack the emotional punch I hoped for so I’m very curious what edits or possible added music could improve the overall scene.

Another quick suggestion/question. Have you thought of doing a slight color correction or like use as your main source kk650s Regraded version. Overall, I felt the colors were very nice but just a bit too off on skin tones. Wouldn’t be too much a problem to use blu Ray since this isn’t a major color issue like the 2004 DVDs.

I really am positive so far with the edit. It was pretty hard to notice that Finn didn’t get captured at all haha! I also agree with Smithers and might add that even cutting the little couple seconds where they turn the corner and she says “what do they look like” and then they see the rathar and Finn says “that”. Nice work so far! Interested in the Kylo and Lor San Tekka clip

Not ranking the cloud city lightsaber duel number 1 is a travesty.

I highly recommend you don’t use the scene for the sake of the time code. My rule is pretty much that if a first time viewer sees a fan edit of the original source, if a certain edit or addition takes even a first time viewer out of the film then it doesn’t belong

Star Wars on face value is a saga of some great films (ANH,ESB), decent ones (ROTJ, ROTS, TFA), annnnddd other ones (TPM,AOTC). But the way it’s penetrated the lives of everyone and culture is a landmark in pop culture and film history. The most loved original independent property to date. The toys, the games, the beloved characters, the nostalgia … Star Wars is a lot more than just movies

Yah. I went on a spree of finding every possible full featurette, documentaries, deleted scenes etc etc (pretty much all bonus features possible) for both the original trilogy and prequel trilogy. It’s astounding how much bonus content and docs are publicly released by Lucasfilm on YouTube. Maybe a “force awakens bonus features” thread would be nice. Compiling all radio/tv/event interviews, featurettes, documentaries etc.

In all honesty films are completely 100% subjective. But most people enjoy good dialogue, a captivating story, and overall an enjoyable experience.
