Preserve your avatar, title, and/or signature, plus give an explanation
Time

So we often associate a particular online friend with his (or her) avatar, as well as the title and signature.  When that changes, we may not realize that we're still talking to the same person and it can be quite jarring.  Sometimes we realize we miss the old version of you, and if nothing else, we'd like to reminisce a bit.  I don't expect anyone to share every old detail, but if you wanted to preserve your unique characteristics for all to refer to with fond remembrance, plus provide an explanation if you like, we'd all think it's just swell, by golly!

Here's my current title and signature for future posterity:

I'm not ready for the trials

Jedi Tenderfoot

[My reason for these was simply to poke fun at the two most common titles and sigs I've seen, namely "I am ready for the trials" and "Padawan Learner"]

Previous titles and sigs as best as I can remember:

Dark Lord of Grammar, Master of Spelling and Syntax [chosen because I was giving Voldemort--wait, the other he who we must not name--a hard time about his imperfect posts, as he had been harassing someone else with his arrogance; this proved to be an embarrassment every time I goofed]

Trying to play nice [after a big argument with said arrogant jerk, I tried to make up]

Three a day

When referring to darth_ender's posts, the following rule applies:
"Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then shalt log off of OT.com, never to return until the Lord cometh, or the following day, whichever cometh first."  [a time when I was really not focusing on my studies and thus limited my posts to three a day]

Handsome, attractive, witty...all you could ask for

Dad extraordinaire  [these obviously need no explanation, as you all well know how true they must be]

Can't find my old avatar online, but if I do I'll post it later.  It's fun to know more about you, so if you feel so inclined to contribute to this little time capsule, feel free.

Misbegotten Movie Concepts
Time

Baby Ozzy--Next release in the Baby Einstein franchise

Grey Areas--A show featuring a large pink elephant targeting 3-5 year-olds.  The show explores the various facets of extremely complex moral and political issues.

Presidents Day--A patriotic film about aliens invading the earth with city-destroying weapons, finally defeated by a Windows-based computer virus uploaded into their mainframe.  The virus was programmed by Bill Murray, a Pittsburg weatherman, and he has to live Presidents Day over and over and over again until he gets it right, defeats the aliens, and wins Andy McDowell's heart.

The Big Roast! (Only pick on the poster before you; NO TAGBACKS, but you can LOL the person who roasted you.)
Time

That was fantastic, mrebo!  Let me defer to my favorite commentators when commenting on your idiocy:

Waldorf: That was wonderful!
Statler: Bravo!
Waldorf: I loved it!
Statler: Oh, it was great!
Waldorf: Well, it was pretty good.
Statler: Well, it wasn't bad.
Waldorf: Well, there were parts that weren't pretty good, though.
Statler: It could've been a lot better.
Waldorf: I didn't really like it.
Statler: It was pretty terrible.
Waldorf: It was bad.
Statler: It was awful!
Waldorf: Ah, it was terrible!
Statler: GET HIM AWAY!
Waldorf: Eh, BOO!
Statler: BOO!

I don't know which is worse: the intentionally funny looking puppet in your avatar or the accidently idiotic looking one you are named after. ;)

Idea & Info: Star Wars Deleted Scenes - Reincorporated?
Time

ben_danger said:

just to interject with the red leader footage debate. you may find that the red leader scene that we see in the special edition is actually a spliced scene. the cut between is when a guy walks across the camera, and it is obvious that the two shots are completely different. something similar could be achieved using the same method.

incidentally i'm having a star wars showing on my birthday later in the month, where the main 3 additional tatooine scenes have been reinserted to the main film. i haven't cleaned them up, but have enstead degraded the rest of the film to look like its an old super8 film. as we are projecting it it should look quite good! i used my old marvel comics to place the scenes.

a query - does anyone know what music should go with the scenes? was any ever recorded?

Let us know how this turns out.  It sounds very interesting.

Words I never thought I'd hear: Joe Paterno fired (UPDATE JOE PATERNO IS DEAD)
Time

Personally I think this conversation need not continue.  It stopped being productive a while ago.  It's almost an argument for the sake of arguing, with nothing new being added and no one closer to seeing another's point of view.  I disagree with Warbler's sympathies for the students, but I see no reason to continue condemning him for it.  Nor do I see any reason to continue justifying your comments; we all know where you stand, and you've even clarified.  The point of this thread (IMHO) should simply be how crazy it is that this whole thing has happened, and the details that surround it, not how bad we feel for people whose involvement is rather peripheral.  I'm sure someone will tell me to mind my own business, but I just don't see much point to the argument any longer.

Officially butting out now.

Specter Of The Past

Finished last night.  To quote Newman, from Seinfeld - eexxxceeleent.  I thought the separate stories were handled really well.  You spend a fair amount of time on each, really giving them time to breathe. More than the previous novels, I enjoyed the lengthy government stories.

An aside;  I never had strong feelings about Lando one way or the other.  Liked him in Empire, but gave him little thought after that.  In the Zahn novels, he's become one of my favorite characters. Well written and with substance.  For me, his chapters are right up there with Skywalker and Mara.

[Mild spoiler].
This book felt more cerebral in it's handling of how the New Republic struggles with all its planetary arguing and posturing.  When I think about how we live on a planet where 196 countries can barely get along on a good day (some not even remotely amicable), it makes the New Republic stories even more realistic.  It's us on a much larger scale, but it feels very familiar.  Like us, there aren't always easy answers or fixes when cultures have such fundamental differences. Interesting stuff for sure.
[/Mild spoiler].

This novel has a sort of cliff-hanger ending which I really found intriguing. I started Vision Of The Future just moments after I finished it .  Review to come.

I'm glad you liked it.  I wish I remembered more about it--haven't read it since it first came out.  The audio version is abridged, unfortunately, and I'm in the middle of Lord of the Rings anyway.  I think I would enjoy it more today with my greater understanding of politics.  At the time I was only in high school and was not interested in that sort of thing much.

Uh, sick...Well, I've been waiting for this moment >:)

So, this coworker likes big...you know.  Maybe she's referring to you as a person, not just a part of you.  If she'd asked me a month ago, I would have told her you're a big one, but don't worry, she likes you for it.  I guess your username is more fitting than we thought.

Was that ruthless enough?  Don't judge all of us based on me because I simply could not pass up this sort of comeback.  I'll be cleaner from now on :)
