STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

To me this whole this whole thing is wonderful news! The aesthetics appeal to me, and I frankly don't mind the CGI at all. I was disappointed to hear about TCW being discontinued, and I still wish it had wrapped up a little better, but this is tremendously exciting news. Of course there will be Jedi and Sith, which doesn't bother me but will bug some, as Vader's extermination of remaining Jedi will likely be an important aspect of the story. But really, this is good news, and I too hope they chuck much of the EU out the window.

Hey, it's me. said:

Yeah in a perfect world it would be hand drawn. But, more than likely it'll be CG. And considering the era between III and IV were 'dark times' hopefully the series will follow ths tone. Nothing cutesy and fluffy please. One of many thoughts that spring to mind is wether we'll see the transition of the 'Clone Troopers' to the conscripted 'Storm Troopers' of the OT?

Good question, and one I too hope they answer. Clearly the stormtroopers of the OT are not the Aussie clones of the PT.

Oops. Well, if you are good, you become one with the Force. Or if you live a life filled with atrocities, but do something good right at the end, you also become one with the Force. That's about it ;)

In all seriousness, it's a topic I'm glad you brought up, and I have little doubt that such experiences have shaped religious thought for years. I find them interesting and quite plausible, and I don't believe science has somehow answered all questions about it just yet.

Well, a few minutes away made me already feel like I overreacted, so for that I'm sorry. Yes, the creationist comment bugged me. And reading some of your comments about the USA bugged me too. But again, I apologize. I know there are numerous ideas about the creation of the earth, from the purely religious and devoid of scientific, to the purely scientific absent of any religious thought. I don't much care for folks who talk about the religious as idiots, and your comment first struck me that way. Even if that was how you meant it, I shouldn't have reacted so quickly. In any case, if you do feel that way, I'd rather not read about it. I consider myself very religious and scientific, and not too stupid either. I'd love to hear your perspective.

Hey, it's me., you have officially gotten on my nerves with your know-it-all attitude. Don't you think there are already enough arrogant people who state their opinions as facts on the Internet. There certainly isn't a shortage, so we don't need further contributions from the likes of you.

Ask the member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints AKA Interrogate the Mormon
Time

Well, I am officially the third highest official in the local Mormon Diocese.

Okay, so that's a lame joke. But I am now serving in a position of authority over the local congregation as the 2nd counselor in the bishopric. Positions are entrusted to a person, not sought, and leaders are not paid in my church, so there is no ambition in seeking these positions. This is a position I am honored and terrified to take part in. I'm younger than the usual folks, and it can be rather time consuming. I am not terribly organized by nature either. But I pray I am up to the challenge and may serve God to the best of my ability.

Iron Man 3
Time

I enjoyed this fairly well, but I was disappointed with certain aspects. In particular...wait, can I get into spoilers yet? Maybe not. Okay, I'll limit my gripes to one thing, the same problem I had with IM2: the Iron Man suit seems pretty cheap these days. Easy to come by, easily destroyed. I thought this suit was super tough, but not really anymore. :( And I think it does indeed seem like Tony is relearning the same lessons of friendship over and over, with only mild progress in each take.

Plus there are a number of points that could easily be used as fodder in my armchair movie critic thread.

Winner of the thread!

In reality, this thread was designed to go beyond political correctness. The disadvantages to lefties are real and often go unnoticed. No one complains and raises a big stink about lefties or numerous other prejudices. To me that is hypocrisy. On the other hand, many of the media-sanctioned official victim groups are completely unreasonable in their demands and further alienate rather than repair divides. This thread is more serious in its complaints than many realize, but it is also a parody of all forms of hypocritical demands from so many who seem to prefer to be victims of their circumstances.

That and I'm an attention-...erm...seeker.

All Things Star Trek
Time

I'm starting to become more interested in a book canon than a filmed canon of Star Trek. I'm sort of thinking there are several books I'd like to read to provide background to the existing stories, then read Blish's stories based on TOS and Foster's based on TAS, some books that span the time between the series and movies, and the novelizations of the movies. I sort of have competing ideas of personal canon, much like my Star Wars canons. I think using these books as an alternate canon could be a fun way to view the Star Trek universe. BionicBob at FE.org is a big fan of the Trek books and has been giving me several recommendations.

Wow! I thought life was going to get easier for me when I graduated next week. Now it looks like I've got some new responsibilities to take care of. I won't say any more for now, but life just got complex once again.

Oh shit! Our little Bkev is pregnant.

Wait, ender and bkev are gay married? Mind blown.

You wouldn't expect me to be engaged in fornication, would you? Much too strict in my biblical interpretation for that, silly. Of course we're married!

Ender! You're a swell guy, but your avatar freaks me right out! I dunno what it is about it, but I honestly find it disturbing. And I live on a steady diet of horror films! What's it from? Looks Biblical... Well, North American Biblical.

I just found it on the Net. The actor is Asa Butterfield, who plays Ender in the upcoming Ender's Game. I think it's from a mythological movie he played in. I thought it was perfect because it's Ender, but he looks like a Sith!

JEDIT: A little research reveals that he played young Mordred in the TV series Merlin. That's where the picture comes from.

I cannot sit idly by while you blindly spew your mindless, murderous venom against the left-handed population. You ignoramus! All left-handed-Americans just want a better life. It's really the right-handers that cause all of our country's problems!

JEDIT: For those who who think I'm just being silly, there is a lot of truth in my thread.

Oh, that. No, that was a false alarm and a late menses. It's something else ;)
