Some perspective from a gay Mormon.

And this is from probably around a year ago when I read it, but I found it interesting.

When I look back on who I was back in late 2003-2004, I can't help but feel down.

I may have had less taste back then, been stupider and more conceited/legalistic, but I used to believe in something back then; I had belief in a loving God who cared about me; I had a firm moral code on which to base my life upon; I had optimism for the future.

Now I have absolutely nothing to believe in -- nothing but doubt and fear and anger.

With ignorance comes a lack of perspective that will often allow for a greater inner peace; wisdom yields more of the excruciating types of pain.

I have also felt this. It sucks.

Well, I feel this may fit better in the philosophy or religion thread, but I lately have come to see religion as a parallel with art. There are varying styles, but all can be appreciated for their beauty.  Who is to say that because post-impressionism and romanticism reflect different emphases and perspectives on the real world that one is more correct than another? I believe among the most beautiful of human experiences is immersion in a religion that gives perspective not found in so-called reality. Just because science and religion do not always mesh, it does not mean one has a cornered market on all that is true.

How does this fit in this thread? Duracell, find something that gives you meaning and purpose and happiness, something greater than yourself, and appreciate the beauty of it. Don't allow detractors to tell you it is untrue. Decide for yourself and be happy.

The Star Wars: The Lost Workprint (* unfinished project - lots of info *)

So I again did a super rough draft of the Battle of Yavin with two runs.  Again, it mostly uses OCP's version with subtitles remaining in a few spots, but I made a few more changes.  Nothing that special or different, but to me it shows that the idea is plausible and worthwhile, considering the aims of this edit and the original source material.

Possessed nailed it on the head.  The economy is rough, so it can be hard to get a job, but things have improved drastically.  A job does wonders for one's self esteem.

Also, perhaps you are having difficulty because you are not as marketable as would be ideal.  Do you have a degree?  If so, what in?  What education opportunities do you have?  If you don't have a degree, have you applied for federal aid, which, by the sound of things, you would certainly get?  Keep your options open.  Suicide is the biggest option-closer.

And believe me, in spite of your faults, you are not the worst person alive.  You know this is untrue.  You have flaws, but so does everyone else.  Keep getting professional help.  Do you have Medicaid in your state?  There are innumerable behavioral health benefits for those who are in the financial straits you have suggested.  You have options now.  Open every door you can.  Carpe diem!

Info: Something that might interest folks here..."ROTJ" Editdroid Laserdisc Footage
Time

While I believe it is all there, I think Adywan is hoping to get higher quality captures.  I know very little about video capture, and am especially naive when it comes to LD, but it sounds like the efforts for this particular disc, while admirable, still leave something to be desired.  I don't think Ady would use it in his ROTJ:R edit unless it were of sufficient quality.

Wow, I left a lot unanswered.  I didn't address much of what thejediknighthusezni asked, but I really don't care that much.  I find it funny that he talks about the Luciferian order (aka Freemasonry) as if I didn't know.  Apparently he has not followed this thread long or he'd understand that I didn't open this thread for discussion while remaining unread on the subject.

But alas, I shall not offer any further response, for I am bumping this thread to refer to the following article and glean readers' reactions to it.

I hope to be able to play another game eventually.  I still don't have much time, but I'd like to play now and then.  Perhaps we can try the latest 3 player game.  I don't mean to bump this just to say I can't do it now, but I feel bad having dropped out, and I want you guys to know that I'd still love to play with you in the near future.

I too am tired of superweapons.  The Death Star I and II (which I don't find to be too cliched, as they serve very different story purposes) were cool, but when we start talking about Sun Crushers and Galaxy Guns and World Devastators and Starbusters...it just gets so old.  It's like the Empire only knows how to do one thing, and that is build another superweapon with a supremely fatal flaw.  I'm not too keen on one ship coming and saving the day.  I like it better when a better general manages to outwit the other in spite of poor odds.

Well, my griping isn't quite so strong, but I get a little annoyed every time I go to news.yahoo.com (my primary news outlet, since it has articles from various news agencies), and see a bunch of sponsored ads with headlines feining real news articles, saying something like "weird trick" or "blow your mind" or "new such and such makes some demographic angry".  Then it shows some completely unrelated woman with a tight shirt and a bit of cleavage looking smug or sexy, and I'm left wondering what this has to do with their farcical news article.  Not a big deal, but definitely annoying.

Progress is good :)  I still recommend seeking professional help.  I can't tell you how many patients I've provided with Ativan or Valium to ease off the withdrawals, and it's been a great benefit in the short term to work through those symptoms.  Obviously long-term help would require more than just turning to such meds, but there are programs out there that can get you through it.  I wish you the best, and hope you can find a way to beat your beverage demons. :)

I'm more vocal in opposing conservatives?  Wow, you really uncovered a big secret there!

Thanks for the correct link. And what I mean is if you have a small disagreement with me, you won't hesitate to make a point of it, but often when you even had a big disagreement with Bingowings, you would just stay quiet. Just my observation, and not meant as a criticism. I probably do similar things, like when Ferris is over the top but I don't jump on him.

 Example please.

Presumably in the Bingowings scenarios we linked to, you agreed that his argument methods were poor (i.e. bringing my church into the discussion) and that his ultimate point was wrong, in that IS is a real threat, not a rich oil-grabbing conspiracy.  But look how long it took for you to jump in and point it out, after pages and pages of the discussion resurfacing.  If I'd made a similar case that such was performed by powerful communist-sympathizing Americans, I have a feeling you would have pointed it out immediately, given that you know I am of a more conservative mindset.  Your first example was cited in the above links.  I could dig deeper if I cared enough to prove it, but you did only request a single example.
