Possibly the worst scene in all 6 movies:
Possibly the worst scene in all 6 movies:
Take that, Russia!
The double standard against the novelizations and the making of books. If they're not canon, how is any of the EU canon?
The WEG material. It's prequel-free and fun to read.

I'd like to go all angry Wookiee on some of the idiotic comments though. >_<
Suck it, Yuuzhan Vong.
The novel Darksaber. It's extremely convoluted.
Celestials. Precursor races are a sci-fi cliche that doesn't belong in Star Wars.

I think Vader was always intended to be Luke's father though, even in the pre-ESB universe. His name even implies it.
*sigh*
Actually, Lucas' earliest surviving notes on Vader's name don't say anything about the word "father"--rather they suggest the name was a combination of the phrases Dark Invader and Death Water.
Also, I highly suggest you read through the Leigh Brackett script of ESB.
And even if Vader was always intended to be Luke's father, a universe in which he's not would be interesting. As far as we knew in 1977, mrs. and mr. Vader named their son Darth and Darth betrayed and murdered Luke's father.
That an army of Jedi was defeated by an army of battle droids of all things. Non-Force-user power!
Tobar said: The entire EU is built upon the back of the original WEG RPG source books. Which I always thought was great as they were incredibly well done.
The WEG RPG sourcebooks should be easier to obtain in that case.
Tobar said: Are the current novels that badly written?
Yes. Among other things, Jacen is a completely different character in DNT and LOTF.
How we have to read out-of-print RPG sourcebooks in order to make sense of novels.
How every background character in the OT is involved in the Galactic Civil War.
I wonder how detailed the treatments are and how true to them the finished movies will be.
Is Ponda Baba a Beatles fan? (going by the Kenner toys)
I'd love to see material set in the pre-ESB universe (meaning that Vader isn't Luke's father, among other things).
everyone's prequel-level stupidity
The Jedi weren't always the good guys, as demonstrated by the First Great Schism. (this is something I like about the EU)

This is probably going to come as a shock to imperialscum, but there's something about TOR that I actually do like and accept as canon.

I love the idea of Sith sleeper agents -- entire families of Sith sleeper agents -- operating within the Jedi Order, working behind the scenes for centuries to undermine the Order and bring about a rebirth for the Sith.

Yes it was an interesting character and concept. Sadly they didn't go beyond a few minutes video.
I second all of the above.

I mean, the real episode I was ANH, not TPM!
As far as I'm concerned, the movies shouldn't even have episode numbers. Saying "This trilogy begins with Episode IV, that trilogy begins with Episode I" places too many limitations of story possibilities; the saga should have been open-ended (open-begun?), with space available for any number of prequels/sequels/interquels/sidequels/etc.
I've always thought this as well.
I hate how the EU seems to deliberately miss every oppertunity for something awesome. KOTOR II hints at a pre-Great Schism Sith Empire, and what does SWTOR do? Reveal that it's just a remnant of the Great Hyperspace War Sith Empire (and no, this doesn't have anything to do with the things that myself, duracell, and imperialscum have argued over). The Unifying Force reveals that The Force doesn't really have light and dark sides, and what do the books that take place afterwards do? Not only do they forget that revelation, they also have the Jedi become just like their prequel selves.
Might Disney make further changes?

I would have had a scene somewhere in the film of the Emperor, hidden in the shadows entirely, but just enough of a presence.
I would have fleshed out a bit of an animosity between Tarkin and Vader, sort of like the original conceptions of Vader and Jejerrod from ROTJ.
I second these.
imperialscum said: I really don't understand your functioning. In one instance you complain about something as petty as lightsabre colour variety, and in other you like that they stick lightsabre in every era and "pollute" every faction with it. What about the variety in this case?
Lightsabers in every era doesn't destroy the uniqueness of Vader or Palpatine. All Sith having red sabers does destroy their uniqueness (and yes, the prequels are just as guilty of this as KOTOR and SWTOR).

I think some fanboys get so swept up into the concept of canon that they subconsciously believe that the abstact decanonization of a beloved story will somehow seep into the real world and physically erase it from existence.
I agree with this post 100%.
I would hate it if the movies ARE beholden to the EU. I want a living Chewie in VII and I want the movies to be free to establish a better Sith history than the one in SWTOR (the Sith shouldn't be founded by fallen Jedi and the Jedi shouldn't keep thinking that the Sith are extinct).

I hope this means that you will stop getting so butthurt every time somebody says something bad about KOTOR and/or SWTOR.
I was not offended or anything. I was either trying to correct false claims from lack of knowledge or point out double standards.
Glad to hear that.
