Of course it's not a contest. GOUT looks that much better. In GOUT, snow is white, Star Destroyers are gray, and 3PO is gold. On Blu-Ray, snow is blue, Star Destroyers are also blue, and C-3PO is green.

Well.....if you exclude the jaggies, the digital noise, the optical grain, the limited colour palette ect.....then the laserdisc/GOUT might have a better chance!.

Jaggies: not noticable

Digital noise: not noticable

optical grain: it's called film

limited color palette: I didn't know that gold 3PO indicates a more limited color palette than green 3PO.

The wampa who knocked Luke off his tauntaun and the wampa who lunged at him in the cave probably were meant to be one and the same creature, but separating them does resolve the question of why the wampa looks noticeably different between the two scenes.

Also, IMO, the creature on the bottom does look kind of feminine, at least in comparision to the one on the top.

But how would Luke end up in the possession of a different Wampa? And aren't the differences a result of one being from the OOT and other being added in 97?

And again, just because your equipment is good doesn't change the fact that the official Blu-Rays are full of errors, mistakes, and SE additions.

Because the VHS,Betamax,V2000,Laserdiscs,8mm deran prints and 2004 dvds were so amazing!......the BluRay whatever it's inconsistencies is by far the best these films have looked on home video.

I personally prefer the look of GOUT over the look of the Blu-Rays.

I mean, I thought Return of the Jedi established that Fett basically lived at Jabba's. Not that I ever much liked the idea, but what the hell else is he doing just chilling there in the movie?

For all we know from the movies, Boba is just someone who Jabba reccommended to Vader. The lengends universe made him the best bounty hunter in the galaxy.

**RUMOR** Original theatrical cut of the OT to be released on blu ray!!

To get this thread slightly back on topic, I'd like to point out that the final 2k digital production files for both AOTC and ROTS are more than likely still sitting on a server at Lucasfilm with multiple backup copies. It was mentioned on the official website back in 2011 that the blu-ray's were in fact newly transferred from the digital source rather than simply dumped from the existing hd transfers. The 35mm prints are by no means the best available sources for those movies.

Whatever they do, the DNR on TPM and the colors on AOTC could certainly use improvement.

I'm sure Ep7 will still have a lot of cgi in it. It'll simply be the way Abrams utilizes and combines physical stuff with digital that feels more true to the OT, I'm guessing.

The Ronto and Jedi Rocks don't feel true to the OT at all.

True, but he never mentioned them.

but he was responding to the claim that the SEs go against the approach being taken with TFA

 Read my second sentence.

I did. The SEs cgi is very intrusive.

Jaja good idea for a fan edit :P

also... 2002 thread? Wow

That would fit right in to my preferred ST plot twist:

It would. I posted your plot twist on TFN and the mods were very mad.

 Links or it didn't happen.
