I pictured young Shaw. I didn't think about who would be casted.

It's interesting how open to interpretation Vader letting Piett live is. There's three meanings that I can think of:
1. Vader was distracted.
2. Vader respects Piett.
3. Vader was beginning to move away from the dark side.

In spite of the popularity of picking on George Lucas, I personally still have a lot of respect for the man. That said, I am sure the new movies will be great, but I wish that Disney had not completely discarded his treatments as it sounds like they have. I feel respect for the original creator's ideas, even with liberal interpretation, would have been a good thing.
I wouldn't be surprised if the whole Disney throwing out the treatments thing is wishful thinking on the part of those who think that anything created by Lucas is inherently bad. Lucas said he didn't recognize anything in the first teaser, but he also said that he hasn't been following the development of TFA. Maybe it just so happens that nothing from the treatments was included in the first teaser.

I wonder how long until a reorganization into the first Hollywood Empire.

Thanks to a time warp, I actually saw Episode 11 that day. ;)

Also, happy 35th ESB!
Star Wars Poster Monthly gives some interesting insight into the pre-ESB Star Wars universe.
In the Redemption portion of Tales of the Jedi, Ulic remembers Massassi shooting Republic soldiers from rooftops. It's an awesome image.
Darth Vader #5 gives us some possible insight into why Han and Motti didn't believe in The Force.

Universe shrinkage is when characters keep running into each other without an in-universe explanation, not when characters are continually focused on.
When a minor character just HAPPENS to run into our primary characters again, or is somehow involved in major events concerning them, a full 30 YEARS LATER no less, that IS universe shrinkage.
Bear in mind, this wasn't a main antagonist integral to the plot. This was a mercenary who until the Prequels was only significant in the one movie.
I was responding to Bingowings.
Universe shrinkage is when characters keep running into each other without an in-universe explanation, not when characters are continually focused on.
In another thread, someone suggested a prequel reboot in which the Sith Empire from SWTOR becomes the Galactic Empire. However, Star Wars (1977) implies that the Galactic Empire was once the Old Republic. That the Cult of SWTOR has convinced people to ignore dialogue from Star Wars (1977) appalles me.
The final 4 episodes of TCW are interesting. It's suggested that midichlorians aren't what the prequel Jedi think they are and the final episode ("Sacrifice") brings Tales of the Jedi to mind with illusions, spirits, and spells.
I like the small-scale serial feeling that Tales of the Jedi had before Kevin J. Anderson joined.

Sounds like a mocking of the prophecy to me.
Why get bogged down in a story that's already been told when there's so many stories that haven't been told? There's a whole galaxy and a thousand generations of history to explore.

Would be interested in finally finding out why Boba Fett and Han Solo hate each other so much and Boba seems to be gunning for Solo.
But even filling in those blanks could be really lame if done prequel style.
Hate each other so much? What film did you watch? Boba Fett wanted to collect a bounty on Han Solo. I doubt Solo even knew who he was, he wasn't even referred to by name by any of the characters in The Empire Strikes Back.
That idea of Fett and Han having a mutual grudge is something from the EU. It's nowhere to be found in the films themselves.
This. It's Jabba and Han who hate each other in the films, not Boba and Han.
If we never see Boba without his mask, they can avoid telling us whether or not it's the Jango clone.

The movies though...there hasn't been a good one in 35 years.
but there's only been 6 movies total, so it's 29 years of nothing, with at most 4 years of suckage
- Palpatine during the events of Star Wars (1977). I'd love to see Palpatine dissolve the Senate and deal with the fallout from the destruction of Alderaan and the destruction of the first Death Star.
- Small-scale stories throughout the history of the galaxy.
1. If you don't want something to be pirated, you have to release an official version. The absence of an official release will turn people to piracy.
2. If Disney ignores the prequels but keeps promoting the SEs, how are they going to explain who that ghost next to Yoda at the end of ROTJ is?

Why is Kylo Ren dressed like Darth Maul? Did Ren meet Maul? Is Ren a Maul groupie?
Maybe that's Abrams way of pleasing the PT fans? He did say he was trying to please everyone.
You could be on to something.

I think one could classify the removal of the Fox fanfare as a change.
From a certain point of view.
I hate the SEs more than the prequels because the SEs have prevented us from viewing the OOT.

The Dark Knight Rises insulted my intelligence, and made me regret ever seeing the whole Nolan trilogy. With the sloppy continuity errors, the over the top writing, Batman sounding like the dad from Rocket Power, the fact that Bane wasn't the main villain after all wasting three hours of our time; and the stupid asinine ending where 12 million people are going to slowly die of radiation sickness while Bruce Wayne jets off to Europe with his girlfriend after faking his death pisses me off. Not to mention 90% of the film is spent with Bruce Wayne making a hundred failed attempts to get out of a fucking pit.
How is that better than ROTJ, let alone a more satisfying ending?
and don't forget Gotham having amnesia about The Joker, who somehow went form being the most feared man in the city to not existing
