Knights of the Old Republic III
Time

The villains would be a Sith Pureblood Empire that has been around since before the birth of the Jedi. It would be revealed that Ziost (prior to a retcon in 2006, Korriban was just a tomb world, not the homeworld of the Sith Purebloods) was an abandoned colony of theirs that forgot its history and became primitive. It would also be revealed that the Dark Jedi who became the first Sith Lords were introduced to the dark side by this Sith Pureblood Empire.

Anyway, has anyone brought up yet how every era with stories set in it over the span of thousands and thousands of years seems to have an Empire analogue and a Republic analogue, complete with similar logos? Because I really hate that.

This is one of the things that I hate most about the EU. The Republic becomes the Empire, so why in the world does the Republic's enemy 3600 years before the movies have the Empire's logo?

The old EU was just unwieldy. I couldn't get into it. I actually tried to read some wiki logs on characters and events. The entries were novel length.

This so much. Immediately after ROTJ, soul-sucking aliens invade, then an orange-uniformed woman takes over the Empire, then a "Dark Jedi" almost becomes a dark side god, then a blue-skinned alien takes over the Empire, then Palpatine returns in a clone body, then Palpatine returns in another clone body, then a star-destroying superweapon shows up, then an alien from another dimension attacks, then some aliens from another galaxy attack, then some bugs attack, then one of Leia and Han's children goes dark, then a planet of Sith and a tentacled mind-controlling monster attack, then 100 years later the galaxy is ruled by another Sith army.

More OUT Rerelease Rumors from John Landis!

I'd love to hear what Landis himself said verbatim, but it seems that Empire magazine interpreted his statement as being the original versions specifically.

Sure, but Landis is already not the first speaker in that game of telephone. He heard it from Lucas. Lucas may have said "the original trilogy--yes, John, THE original classic films that started the whole thing, back in 1977, with no changes at all to what I intended all those years ago". A normal person could walk out of there thinking Star Wars was finally going to get a decent home video release and say that to the press without reservations, but in Lucas-speak, that just means a new 2016 Specialer Edition where Yoda is now CGI.

I don't think for one second that Disney would allow more changes to the trilogy due to the backlash it gets every time it happens. I could see Disney sweeping it under the rug, continuing to release the 2011 SEs, and then never mentioning the OOT ever again, but adding even more changes I just can't see them doing.

The backlash from 14 people on the Internet. 99.9999% of the population don't care at all, hence why it was the bestselling Blu-ray of all time when it came out and why it would break box office records in a heartbeat if a new version was released theatrically. People who care about the OOT are a tenth of a tenth of a tenth of a tenth of the population.

What would Disney have to gain from making more changes? What could they possibly want to change?

I didn't see them complaining when the EU overwrote DROIDS which had A-Wings pre-ANH. The Rebellion is a large organization with many different cells. The main fleet is mostly composed of X-Wings. That there are different cells with access to different ships makes sense on a galactic scale. The Battle of Endor saw the gathering of many different cells into one massive fleet to take on the Second Death Star.

This can't be repeated enough. There's a reason it's called the Rebel ALLIANCE. Endor is the only time we see all the members of this alliance.

At the same time, I do feel as if Filoni doesn't really give a s**t if he messes with continuity or not. I'm mostly referring to The Clone Wars. The fact that that is now the canon version of that time period is kind of dumb. The incompatible Clone Wars events from the comics, books, and micro-series were much more believable and just better thought out, for the most part.

Actually, Filoni did whatever he could to stick to continuity. Things like returning Maul were things that Lucas insisted on. It's Lucas who doesn't really give a s**t about continuity.

Speaking of The Clone Wars, it changed something that I disliked about the EU: that Maul's tattoos were described as Sith tattoos. The Sith were in hiding, so why would they tattoo themselves?

Someone on TFN posted this in response to B-Wings appearing in Rebels:

"I would just take this as another example of Filoni's arrogance, thinking it's okay to continue to stomp on Legends lore so he can put his own stamp on things. A Filoni-lover may excuse this by claiming ignorance, but that whole team claims to love Star Wars way too much NOT to know what they're doing when they (intentionally) violate existing/Legends canon. And yes, I get that Legends no longer has legit status, but I see no reason to slap longtime fans in the face when you can use a different or new ship/character/planet/weapon instead of changing existing material (see Depa Billaba)."

Why in the world does the date of a ship's debut matter so much?

Different Interpretations of Characters
Time

Wannabe Scholar said:

Alright, since we're all writing our own versions of the prequels, I thought I just bring this up. Obviously, we got our own different ideas for characters.

Let's take Obi-Wan and Anakin. We've all seen the brash, headstrong, and confident Anakin Skywalker along with a more cautious Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is not only the actual PT but in other PT rewrites. Certain stories just follow the basic idea with small changes here and there, or do something completely different, or something in the middle, like Khyron42's The Fall, which probably has my favorite interpretation of Obi-Wan (apologies to DuracellEnergizer and CWBorne).

Now, I'm not saying it's a bad thing (heck I'm using that in my version). I'm just wandering about different interpretations of certain SW characters you will use in your PT rewrites.

Which interpretation that you've seen is more unique from others? What about your interpretation of certain characters make them distinct from the rest? And it can include anyone (from cartoons, comics, novels, etc.): Bail Organa, Amidala, the Sith, the Jedi, the Jensaarai, anyone!

That's all for now. I'd like to know what you guys think. Thanks.

Sith: There'd only be one "Dark Lord of the Sith" at a time, and in the OT era that one Dark Lord would be Vader. The Dark Lords would have armor that slowly evolves into Vader's armor.

Jedi: They wouldn't have a ban on attachments (the attachment ban seems to be something that Lucas created because he wanted a forbidden romance. Their uniform would be what Luke wears in ROTJ.

The Prequels as Envisioned by the (Pre-PT) Expanded Universe
Time

Tales of the Jedi says that there can only be one Dark Lord of the Sith at a time. Because Vader was always said to be a "Dark Lord of the Sith", only one at a time implies that Palpatine isn't one. Also, in Empire's End, when Palpatine goes to Korriban, there's no throne for him although there is one for Vader.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

Yeah, namely creating that clone, "Luuke Skywalker." Personally, I always found those extra Us in the clone names in the Thrawn series reather silly.

And indeed, more web pages need to get with the times and stop using Flash.

This so much. Consecutive-voweled clones is an aspect of the EU that I won't miss. In fact, the Thrawn series would have been better off without any cloning involved. The "Joruus" character could have just been an insane man who Palpatine gave some Force training to and appointed guardian of Wayland.
