WOW, You are not extremely bitter are you?
WOW, You are not extremely bitter are you?
h_h's audio didn't do any of that on my system, it does pack a pretty good punch though at times, and not so much at times, is it perfect? no, but nothing ever really is, but it is pretty damn good none the less, but when I watch the 97 SE DVD's with the DE's 5.1 in sync with it, I actually prefer these, now maybe it is my set up, or just my taste in audio, but these seem to pack a really big punch throughout, I wish I had the patience to sync up and edit DE's 5.1 97 SE rips to this BD set I am doing.

Awesome news d_j. Compared to the DVDs, how much better would you say the video quality is on the blu's? Is it possible to post a side-by-side comparison of a DVD and blu-ray screen cap?
To be honest with you, I have deleted ALL V3 files from my hard drives, after I watched the samples of this on my HDTV, I lost ALL interest in the V3 DVD's, the 720P upscale with a pretty high bitrate running at 23.976 on my system blows the V3 DVD away, no comparison, to me anyways, plus you have to keep in mind, it is not only about the video, it is having ALL audio files on 1 Disc for each movie that is super cool to, in Dolby Digital, DTS-HD MA and LPCM, and for a bonus, the Imperial Edition score will be on the ESB Blu-ray, you just can't do what I wanted to do with shitty DVD format, even funnier is the fact that I have not even burned me copies of the V3 Set, all files, including the lossless avi and ISO's are all backed up on an external, so to answer your question, I probably will not do a side by side, because there is more at stake here than just video, sorry.

Looking forward to your Blus, DJ. The official set will have its place on my shelf, but as you yourself has said, your set will be a nice companion piece and the one that I will watch the most.
Thanks, and you are so right, a companion set is exactly what it is, kind of like the 06 Bonus DVD's, well these will be much, much, better! I just can't get over the menu's LOL, NONE of my projects have had cool menu's like this, top menu, pop up menu, definitely takes full advantage of the Blu-ray menu system.
But since I am here I may as well give a brief update, first I want to Thank those that have expressed interest in donating blanks(PM's have been sent and a list is started, but like with the V3, spots are limited) and to the 2 that have already sent them, THANK YOU very much, but just like with the V3, you guys WILL get these first and you guys will be my final testers, again Thanks!
OK, here is where I am currently, Star Wars 77 BD25 is finished, specs are a few posts back, Empire Strikes Back 80 BD25 I was told I will have the menu's by this weekend, he said he is working up something real nice for the Empire Recordings Bonus(I can't wait to see\hear this myself) and Return of The Jedi 83 BD25 shouldn't be to far after that, there is not as many audio options on this and no bonus, so this should be done a little quicker, so it is not to far off now, we are getting there, slowly but surely.
And if you look, some actually think what I posted is funny, and that is precisely what it is supposed to be, and as I said, I am surprised Frink didn't do something like this first.
and for he record, I am going to buy it, I have the Saga Set on pre-order, I have all my projects for to OT, so I am not worried, I have myself covered.
All I am saying zombie, is that MOST here already set themselves up for "EPIC FAIL" to begin with, so why is all this so shocking now? release after release you guys are not happy with, so WHY should now be any different? and I am not telling anyone to stop the whining and complaining LOL, I find it very funny, and some of the people doing it is just as funny, but I will keep those comments to myself, I don't want to single peeps out.
So keep going by all means, I am just having some fun at that expense is all.
LOL, there are a lot of people that are going to need some of these,
or maybe this,
Sorry, couldn't help myself, all this whining is just to funny, especially since most of you had yourselves set up for "Epic Fail" anyways LOL, I am actually surprised Frink didn't post something like this first.
I really HATE to state the obvious, but if you guys do not like what is being offered, don't buy it!, most of you already set this up for a "fail" anyways, so why all the shock and awe now, year after year, release after release, you guys don't get what you want, shouldn't that tell you something, my GOD.
This is why some of us here are trying to preserve the "Original" version the best we can, because nothing I say, you say, or this whole site says, is going to change anything, no use in being pissed off all day over this LOL.
OH NO, what are we going to do, it is not showing anything, how will we handle the rest off the day? this HAS to be bad news!
Yes Frink and it is here,
http://maythe4th.starwars.com/countdown.php
2 mins left for all to start really crying LOL, this is to damn funny.
The Doom and Gloom is SO cool here, maybe you guys should start another online petition or something, maybe that will help.
Clams.
I now have a POS called Imrahil ignoring me, COOL! that is SO mature.

If anyone following this thread has specific knowledge why ffdshow isn't a good Dolby encoder, I'd like to find out more.
Maybe this question would be better asked at Doom9.

if you want an easy route use "womble mpeg2 video wizard" you just put your stereo audio into womble and go to the export tab then audio tab and choose 5.1 ac3. it may not be as good of a method as the tutorial i mentioned twice now. good luck bro.
That will sound TERRIBLE, it will have a terrible echo sound to it, if you want a really nice sounding 5.1 upmix you need to follow the guide that Doctor M did up.
Doctor M said:
Sigh. Don't feed the trolls.
Sorry DrM, but you are absolutely right, but it just seemed to me like he was somewhat bashing your guide, and that is just uncalled for, this is a GREAT guide, and very helpful, if you take the time and learn how to use it.
1 more thing, it is FAR better to have the deleted scenes upmixed to 5.1, than do downgrade the entire audio to 2.0, now that is just plain stupid if you ask me, make the WHOLE movie suffer because you can't upmix a few small sections of film.
Jetrell Fo said:
So would it be safe to think that one wanting to do this using various sources (i.e. deleted scenes and such) should probably try use matching audio source quality to keep the output as consistent as possible?
Holy Cow! it is not rocket Science, deleted scenes are not going to be as good of quality as the movie source, but when the movie source is 5.1 and the deleted scene is 2.0 this guide will show you how to make that crappy 2.0 into an acceptable 5.1 to mix into your edit, that is ALL this guide does, no more, no less.
And it is NOT about polishing a turd as you put it, it is about keeping an edit predominantly true 5.1, which would probably be about 99% of the edit, aside from the upmixed deleted scenes, and OBVIOUSLY you want to use the best source you can, but when it comes to deleted scenes you are at the mercy of what is available to you, are you not?

I have to admit, this one is not as good as some of the others sample clips you have done, this one is kind of distracting, obvious different clips, to obvious, this one did not flow as well as your others.
Well so far the above works well for me, but as I said it is probably because I am using the ffdshow that is required for BD-RB, but if and when you update the post, please let me know so I can copy your version 1 guide first, then grab the new, can't get enough guides LOL.
Thanks DrM
I am downloading it now to look it over, but to be completely truthful, I have kind of lost interest in these extended HP's since ADM's absence, and honestly some of the added scenes really do not do anything for the viewing experience.
Speaking of ADM I used to be in contact with him very much, I have recently emailed him to see how He is doing but have not heard back from him yet.
*edit, it looked and sounded pretty good to me for your first attempt, and you say you tweaked it more,so if gets even better than your sample that is good, but again to be truthful, maybe some don't care about DVD edits, now with Blu-ray I find myself not watching any DVD hardly at all, if ever anymore, let alone download DVD edits, you say you have the BD, why not do a 720p edit instead of DVD?

I was eagerly awaiting this release but I lost track of this thread a while ago.
From reading the last few pages it looks like I need a myspleen invite. I actually had an old account but it has long since expired. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Also if its OK with the creator I can then post these to usenet afterwards too.
Cheers.
PM sent.

Whats the life expectancy of a dvd DL +/- r after it has media burned to it ?.
Depends on the brand, some do not even last 6 months, I have Verbatim DL's that are 3 & 4 years old and still read great, also I don't think anyone uses DL -r's, only +r's.

These Blu-Rays are going to kick some serious ass. Thank you DJ.
Thanks vbangle, but you will know first hand soon enough, you are always my first tester, just 2 more to go and finished!

Is it a matter of simply adding MORE TEXT to the back? It has a retail look without resorting to the dreaded bar-code.
Honestly, I don't think the case needs any work, it is the disc art that needs a bit of help. It still feels like it is for a fan project and not a studio released film.
You are absolutely right about the bar-code, definitely do not want that, if you are interested, I can send a few pics of what I am trying to achieve with this, you have done artwork before so I am sure you probably already have some real nice OT posters and hirez scans.
OH and 1 more thing Sluggo, ABC emailed me and wanted me to quote his question to you, he said that you would understand, so here it is,
"How's that the labels to be redone ? Who the hell do you think you are, again ?!!!"
