Blade Runner: The Version You've Never Seen Before (Update: Beta Released)
Time

Most likely I will be doing a 5.1, of course until it's done it's not a guarantee but I hope that I am able to. This release is basically a beta, just to see how people respond, if there are any problems or more work that is needed. In another month or two hopefully I can improve the sound editing and do a surround upmix and whatever tweaks are necessary as the result of feedback, and author a proper DVD with menus and such.

OK, cool, I will wait for that one then, now when you say surround upmix, you mean only upmixing the alternate footage correct? because most of it you won't have to upmix, these movies already have great 5.1, that is why I was hoping you were you going to do this at some point, because 2.0 was back in our LD capping days LOL, now we have the SWEET audio from the DVD's and Blu to work with, may as well take full advantage of it, at least to me.

Thanks for the info.

^ Disappointing. Added to warning list.

DJ, I haven't used SP3 yet, but as the manual says it should work. All I can think of at the moment is that it's a colorspace issue; have you tried a ConvertToYUY2() at the end of the script?

No, I actually did not try that, I will right now, but I can load the raw avi files no problem, hmm.

Fair enough, well said, but I am not sure where I fit in your sides LOL, I actually like ALL films, I hate none of them, but I do prefer the UOT because that is what my best Friend and I snuck into to watch ALL day long LOL back in the day.

God, those were the days when you could sneak in to the first showing and stay in all day.  I remember doing that with the Star Wars/ ESB double bill and then again with ROTJ and finally with the ESB/ROTJ double bill. Every day for the 2 weeks they were showing them. A group of us would go and only 1 would buy a ticket then open the back door to let the rest of us in before the usherette would come in to sell the ice creams. never got caught :)

That is exactly what I am talking about, we were young and dumb, had nothing better to do but watch Star Wars all day long and collect Star Wars cards, damn I used to love that little sliver of gum in those packs LOL, then we would do this same thing with Empire and Jedi, I can still remember the look on both our faces when Vader told Luke "I am your Father".

Good Times

Thats why i think we need the emoticons back here. ;) just doesn't get noticed as easily as a little yellow ball winking.

I will be getting the Blu-Ray set for my edits, but luckily the release date falls in the month of my 10 year wedding anniversary, so i won't have to pay a penny for it ;)

The one thing that really pisses me off though is how the SE's and the PT have split the star wars fandom so much, thanks to Lucas' burial of the OUT. There was never this kind of hatred present within the fan base before all this happened, starting in 1997. You have the PT/ SE gushers on one side and the hard line OUT fans on the other, with the rest of us somewhere in the middle core, but still managing to battle between each other. It use to be fun being a Star Wars fan but now it's just so damn hard work.

I wish they had given a little more details about the technical aspect of the Blu-Rays.  With each film getting a 6.1 DTS audio track i guess that means every film will have a new mix. I'm really hoping that they take a leaf out of the Clone Wars tv series surround tracks and have the dialogue and FX in the centre channel without any music bleed through. This would be a fan editors wet dream ;)

OK, you have to be right, let's all just DAMN this whole release and dub it "Epic Fail" because of a damn picture, and box art, WOW, I stand corrected.

I better cancel my pre-order because of this proof, well I just saved $, unbelievable, that is all I can say.

My god man, lighten up. It was a joke. I don't know what's happened to you lately d_j, but you seem to have gone to the dark side.

Well, I have to be honest with you, I did not know that you were kidding me, I just could not tell, but I was really hoping you were, and now I see that you were, but I still stand behind what I have said, I really want to see this set in hand, on my system, before I judge, you have to admit, there is a lot of hate in this thread and it is just crazy ass ridiculous.

Jesus Fucking Christ, where is your damn PROOF of this Professor? 2004 was 2004, it is NOW 2011! Fact of the matter is, NO ONE knows any of this for absolute SURE, damn, some of you spew this shit over and over without any proof whatsoever, all I am saying is we will see in September whether the rants are true or not, I myself will wait until then to judge, or unless something concrete comes out before hand, jeez, you must have seen the print already to be this sure of your comments.

Well after they officially release a picture to promote one of the special features and make a monumental cock-up, you have to admit that it doesn't look too good for their quality control does it ;)

I love the fact that they have now deleted the picture since everyone slammed them for their mistake

If it has all or most of the quality control problems of 2004, I'd at least say you've been ripped off.

We will all see this September won't we, I just refuse to buy into this whole Doom and Gloom thing, and right out of the box label it an "Epic Fail", sorry, but until we have rock solid proof of this, and people have actually seen them in person, pretty much everyone is talking, well you figure it out.

You don't have to be psychic to know that the Blu-ray's are going to suck, because they are using the same masters as 2004. Even if that wasn't true, there will be problems on the release that will be there regardless of LFL "quality control." The pattern is simple: if they could not get SW right on VHS and DVD, then they won't on Blu-ray. That is the way with many movies other than SW: they are forever plagued with substandard video transfers. People who say we no solid proof these are going to suck apparently haven't paid attention to what LFL has said what they are going to do with their video releases.

after reading all your posts on this 1 thing comes to mind, let's say when these are released, they do have KICK ASS picture & sound, with ALL the HATE you spew you still wouldn't admit it would you, you would just find something else to bitch about, am I right?

Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)

Not going to work anyways because I have no Team, and Frink is absolutely right, he has read my statements over the years LOL, I do not like filesharing sites at all, so when these are out to the testers and my Menu guy, and all have been gone through thoroughly, then and only then I will decide how the hell I am going to do this, right now, I still need to finish them first, hopefully ESB will be done this weekend.

This is probably why I have a couple more people donating blanks this time then when I did the V3 project, to large of files to download, and some just do not have burners, and some just want to have a nice set sent to them already done and ready to play.

Who knows, maybe I might just upload them to myspleen and just seed as I can, do 1 every 2 weeks or so, maybe.

It sounds crazy to use a source of a non-anamorphic DVD sourced from a piece of shit master from the early nineties and end up with a 25GB file.

That is why I have already stated SEVERAL times that this is NOT for everyone, I have also stated it is NOT just about the video LOL, it is having ALL the audio for each movie on 1 disc in DD, and LPCM, none of that shitty DVD limitation crap! and there are already samples throughout this thread, so, if this is not for you, GREAT, it does not bother me at all, just wonder why you posted to begin with, this whole BD project started out just being for myself anyways, but some members here convinced me to share.

25gb for each blu?

How do you plan to distribute these? Torrents would be miserable.

To be honest, I have NO idea yet, but for now, just like with the V3 DVD set, only the people that donated BD blanks will be getting them, just like the V3, they will be my Final testers, and obviously will get them way sooner than anyone else, because as you say, torrents will be miserable, that would be me seeding 65-70 GB's, and it seems you ALWAYS seed more than what the file actually is before there are any seeders, so that number would probably be a lot higher than that, so for now, I am not sure yet, sorry if that is not what you wanted to hear.

The best source for this are 005's HD comparisons, which show differences between all 3 versions. It is stated under every comparison whether it is a 97 or 2004 change, so if it says it's a 2004, it means that the shot was the same as the original in 97SE and if it was different in all 3 versions, 005 offers a comparison of all 3.

I didn't know he had the 97 SE's included, Thanks.

OK, now that I have gotten the info I need, let this thread get buried now.

OK, it is obvious what changed from the OT to the 97 SE's, but what are the differences between the 97 SE's and the 04 SE's? is there something that has the differences exactly somewhere? I am tossing around an idea that I may, and I emphasize may, work up after the OT BD25's, it would be another companion set to the official Blu-ray Saga Set this Fall, but it would be a lot easier and helpful to know exactly where to look for the changes.

Thanks

And for that matter did D_J do anything to sync the tracks that may have stripped the dialog normalization?

No, I left them as is LOL.

But, if I would have had the individual wav files then when I was doing the V3 I probably would have encoded them myself and added the Dialnorm -27, because the one and only thing I noticed, is that these files are to darn LOUD, much louder than all other files, you definitely need your finger on the volume button when starting these movies, or at least I do, still wish I had the patience to sync and edit DE's LD ripped 97 SE 5.1 files to this BD set though, I really like the sound of that 97 mix, sweet all the way through, again, at least to me.
