Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1
Time

I have not looked at this yet, but from reading it seems you actually changed the scene, it is not at all right, is this true? and if so, my thoughts would be to keep it looking like "turd" as you call it, as opposed to changing it altogether, because that would just be wrong, wouldn't it? it wouldn't feel right, it is not the Jedi we all know and love.

I like that my "turd" project is in between your "pretty flowers" though, very nice.

I am getting there LOL, but every DAMN time I burn what I hope is the final BD, I find more SHIT frames(and then another fucking disc into the trash!) I have done well over 125 frames so far and I just found 15 more that I want to try and fix, but I already told my Wife, this IS the last batch of frames I am going to mess with, I just want to finish and get these out, either way, just what I have done so far is way better than it was, some are not fixed 100% perfectly, but at least it is way better than what it was.

Star Wars is done, and I have not seen any real bad ones in Jedi yet, I still have to watch that all the way through though, and then obviously I will have to watch Empire all the way through again to.

My goal is to have ALL 3 BD's done by the end of this weekend so I can start shipping these out.
...and then you'll NEVER watch these movies again! :-P

How are you seeing all of these bad frames? In real time or frame-by-frame? I don't think I've ever noticed any of them- your eyesight must be excellent (or you are extremely patient).

BTW- are the covers included on the discs? If so, will they be printable for anyone with a computer or do you need a Blu-ray drive? Just curious.

OH, I will watch these again after I finish, just not my Set LOL, I will do a marathon of the Sept. released Saga Set with my Little Boy.

I am seeing the frames by watching the BD's on my HDTV, they appear as flashes between scenes or camera angle changes, so I then step my player frame by frame and take a closer look to see if it is indeed a bad frame or just a scene change, then I have the video already in VDub on my PC to verify, then I write down the the frame number if it is something I can fix, then move on to watching some more, and repeat the process, the bad frames look like glue marks(yellow streaks) and swirls or something, really bad.

The BD artwork(3 sets for each movie) will be uploaded with the BD when I am ready, but the people that donated blanks will get an email with a download link to all covers on or before the BD's arrive to you.

Whoa, wait a second, I'm not insinuating anything; as Mother pointed out, maybe DTS HD encoding does something to the sound that no one was even aware of. I'm certainly no tech expert on any of this, I was just wondering if the DTS HD encoding might have done something since you said it sounded less loud.

I'm sure you didn't delibrately alter the 5.1 soundtrack in any way, I just figured if the DTS HD encoding automatically did something to the soundtrack (that neither you nor anyone else was aware of), that hairy_hen could probably firgure out what it was easier than anyone else, since he spent so much time fine tuning the soundtrack restorations and so on. I was just curious what the cause might be, but it's no big deal. :)

OK, I will say this 1 more time, NOTHING was changed in the DTS-HD MA encoding, I even left the dialnorm alone, so it is still the same as his at -31, but I just think that this DTS-HD Encoding Suite does a much better job encoding than the "old school" DD encoders, especially freeware or cheap DD encoders(my opinion).

I like these files very much, these 5.1 files(Purist) are the ONLY audio I listen to, just on the V3 it was fucking loud as hell, and YES I understand you can turn the volume down with the remote or on the receiver LOL, but for the most part when switching between audio options on anything they are usually the same volume level, usually.

I still just can't friggin wait to be DONE with this and move on and retire from all this crap, between this and the V3, I have been messing with these files for well over a year and it is wearing my patience very, very thin.

hairy_hen: Perhaps you can listen to the Star Wars DTS HD 5.1 soundtrack and see if everything is still at the correct volumes for that authentic full-range soundtrack Star Wars movie theater experience. :)

What is this supposed to mean, are you insinuating I do not know how to encode this file, there was NO tampering to the wav files in any way, and it was encoded using a DTS HD encoder, also how can he listen to it? it was not released, I guess he could just encode it himself and take a listen.

I may be reading this wrong, but I am not really liking this question, DAMN I will be glad when this is done so I can retire from this crap.

dark_jedi: Do you mean hairy_hen's purist DD 5.1 soundtracks were altered for the encode to DTS HD 5.1, or that when the lossless master 5.1 audio files were encoded at such a high bit-rate for DTS HD that it somehow makes them seem not as loud when you listen to them?

Because I would think that they would sound just as loud as the DD 5.1, but have more fine detail and fullness to them, since every ounce of detail would have been preserved by such a high bit-rate encode from the master files.

Like I said, I am probably not explaining it correctly, but to me, and I mean me, I like the encoded DTS-HD MA files better, and yes they are the "purist" none of them alterations used here LOL.

I am also basing my listening off the V3 DVD's, I can go to any of the other audio options and they have a real decent level, then go to the 5.1 mix, and BAM, LOUD as hell LOL, to be honest, I listen to my default audio option on all 3 of my Blu-rays so far, which is the DTS-HD MA.

One question though: is 448kbp/s the final version, or will there be an higher quality edition for projects such as the V3 Blu? Would love a non-DVD compressed 5.1 track! I ask this because the 97 mix had always sounded better to me as I remembered it theatrically and the 384 kbp/s LD 5.1 wasn't anything as impressive as I remembered. I go the Pro Logic route when I occasionally run the SE LDs.

I have the lossless wav files that were used to make the 5.1 mixes, and I used them to encode DTS-HD MA 5.1 files from this, although some think there is no difference, I myself like the DTS-HD MA files better, I am sure I am not using the right term LOL, but it seems more balanced, it is not so darn LOUD, that was my only complaint on the 5.1 mixes.

Plus it is also very cool to watch the OT Blu-ray and see DTS-HD MSTR on my Yamaha Receiver LOL.

For the as yet released blu-ray editions, we'll have to mail discs for now at least, right?

Thanks again for all the hard work preserving these films!

PM sent, or should I say, invite is sent.

If anyone else needs one just let me know, I have a ton of them so NO worries here.

It depends on a point of view. I've got about 25% of it cut together and I'm about half way through  making the subs. But seeing as how I've already got all the other despecialized shots finished, I would say I'm nearly 90% done with Jedi altogether. But it's so f*cking hot here now that all I feel like doing is lying down watching movies, so my workflow is somewhat slowed down - therefore the prolonged estimated firing range ;-)

Not sure where you live, but here in Illinois it was 99 with a heat index of 117 yesterday and supposed to be just like that again today. It's some of the hottest weather I have ever experienced....and it sucks!!!!

Tell me about it, I am in Illinois also and DAMN is it HOT! glad we have a big ass Pool and AC LOL, 1 good thing about it though is when it is this hot, the grass does not grow, so no mowing.

Yea we know Harmy is not in the US, but he is obviously feeling the HEAT.

I will post screens soon.

I don't care if he or you or anybody else cares. These projects are such a waste of time anyway. I mean how many times can you upscale the GOUT? There are much better ways of restoring these films.

Someone like adywan has the skills to pull it off, and he almost did with his Empire DVD, but hes more interested in his worse-than-Lucas fan edits.

So anyway have fun going around and around in circles with your restorations. People in the know already have 1080p restored versions of the OOT based on the HD captures. And they will be improved when the Blu-rays come out. But you guys can continue to live in blissful ignorance in your own little world.

Hang on a minute. This was a bit of an overreaction wasn't it just because someone didn't see your post. And i wasn't even involved in this yet you decided to drag me into it and slag off what i do. You seem to think you are a very important person who must not be ignored or they will feel your wrath. Post get lost in a topic all the time, especially when there a lot of posts. Just because d_j didn't reply doesn't mean that he was ignoring you, he could have simply missed your post. He has been pretty busy as of late so surely it would have been better to not fly off the handle and complain like you did.

In fact there was another member that reacted just like you and also claimed to have a list of all the bad frames in the GOUT. So goodbye Jedi_Tray, hopefully once and for all.

Sorry d_j but this really annoyed me.

All is good Ady, he called you out, I would expect you to respond, and I am glad you did, this POS needs to go bye bye.
