Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)

Good job, Dark Jedi! I can't wait to test these. It was nice seeing the progression of your releases in your opening post... I'm happy that you've chosen to include all the various audio tracks in Dolby and LPCM, that should be fun audio wise. That high bitrate must look wonderful in action.

However, I do have one question though and forgive me since this was probably said long ago; is the 1993 Home Video audio mix taken from the superior PCM on the laserdiscs or the GOUT DVD?

Laserdisc was the source for the 93.

Humdinger Analysis Thread : Glitch, Cryptography or Steganography?

It does NOT prove shit to me, anything could have been shown there, there are arguments on both sides that have merit, not just this one, like I said, I will not believe shit until I physically look at these myself, I am not going to take anyone's word on the internet, I don't care how pessimistic they are, and what "supposed" proof they have, did they see the blu-ray themselves on there own equipment? I think not.

I personally am still cautiously optimistic about this whole deal, I really hope that this internet crap is wrong, but one just does not know, not yet, now if I end up seeing this shit myself, well at that time, it will be a huge bummer, but I am not going to get ALL worked up now, like some here LOL, I can wait it out.

But anyways, might want to get back on topic and start the analysis on that single frame LOL, just love reading these very humorous conspiracy theories some come up with, very entertaining.

OK, EVERYTHING is DONE! I do still need to watch Empire 1 more time, but I am certain I will see nothing I do not like, plus I already told my Family that this is the last time I will rework it LOL, so packages should start going out soon, hopefully this week, I am going to do them in groups, I will email you when your package is on the way, along with a download link to all artwork.

I just want to emphasize 1 more time, THIS SET IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, if you are expecting BD quality like the movies of today, stay away from this set, far away, but it is on par with recently released titles like Humanoids From The Deep, Damnation Alley, Galaxina, and The Crater Lake Monster LOL, some of these are actually worse in parts, but like I have said, I truly like having all the different audio available in all formats for each film on 1 disc, the sole purpose of this Set, at least for me anyways, was just to have it as like a "Bonus" Set to the Star Wars Saga Set coming this September, either way, to me it is miles ahead of the 2006 "Bonus" DVD's released and my V3 DVD's I did a while back, so I really hope you guys like them.

I do have 1 request, I posted this already here but not in this thread, is there any member here that can print these covers up for me? hopefully someone with experience printing BD covers and knows the precise sizes and uses the same type glossy paper used on retail BD's, I have gotten copies from other people(no one here) that were either way to small, or were printed on normal paper LOL, they just looked like shit, so if anyone can help me out, please let me know.

Thanks

Here are the BEAUTIFUL Menu covers Harmy did up for me, I LOVE these! Thanks Harmy, you the MAN! so here is your first glimpse of the way cool menu.

Blu-ray cover printing request.
Time

Not really sure if this is where to ask but, I am sure it will get moved appropriately if not, but I was wondering is there any member here that knows how to print BD covers really well and uses the nicer glossy type paper that is used on standard BD artwork? my printer is out of ink and I think also there might be something wrong with it, but I am just about to finish up my BD Set and would really like to have the covers printed up, this is why I am asking someone that has done this before, because I have seen where some did not get the size just right and it did not fit in the case very well, I don't want that.

So if anyone is interested, and can do this for me, I am sure that we could try and work something out for your time and materials.

Thanks

Humdinger Analysis Thread : Glitch, Cryptography or Steganography?
Time

Puggo - Jar Jar's Yoda said:

DJ, there was a discussion of this in another thread.  The interest in the glitch isn't the glitch itself (I'm quite sure I wouldn't be able to see it), but its usefulness as a fingerprint as to which transfer a particular release is using.  If you'll recall, the various kenkraly's out there have been saying the blu-ray will be a new transfer. Well, the humdinger proves beyond all doubt that it isn't.  That is what is interesting about the glitch... I don't think it's anal at all.

I understand that, but to start a thread to analyse it even further? crazy shit to me LOL, but whatever, and for me personally, I am not buying any of that crap until I see the BD Set for myself this Sept. WAAAAY to many pessimists pushing their views over, and over, and over, OH, and also the kenkraly's to are doing just as much pushing, THANK GOD the thread has been closed at blu-ray.com for now, but instead of closing the thread they should just unholster the damn BAN HAMMER again.

I am of the mind that I want to see this stuff for myself, then and only then will I be 100% certain, I just can't follow all this crap that people keep spouting blindly, I mean, I know it has been beatin to death, but if you(meaning anyone that feels this way) are that dead certain that it is what it is, why KEEP posting about it, just don't buy it, it really is that simple.

When I say "blindly" I am meaning that the person or persons in question, still have not seen it for themselves on their own equipment.

Humdinger Analysis Thread : Glitch, Cryptography or Steganography?

Funny thing, my wife just recently told me while I have been fixing all these damn bad frames in ESB for my Blu-ray project, and then burning a test copy just to find more LOL, she said "you are way to anal over this Star Wars shit, I can't even see those frames, will anyone else?" well the point is, I can, and I want to make my favorite of the 3 the best I can, so I guess in a sense maybe I am "Star Wars anal" LOL, but my God, I can't even hold a candle to a few here, they give anal a WHOLE new meaning.

I don't understand why you guys are so obsessed about one tiny error in the movie, to the point that you had to give it a name and make a whole thread about it!

;-)

I couldn't agree with you more Frink, pretty silly really, but what do we know right? yet another dumb nickname like GOUT, now humdinger, jeez.

LMAO! now we need to analyze it as well? just WOW.

Er...did you see the winky?

I did but I ignored it, another wasted topic on this shit LOL, my opinion only, what in the hell do you guys think to gain by this now? is petition going to be started? or a boycott of the Blu's? I just don't get it.

Doctor M's ÜberGuide for -Full- PAL to NTSC DVD Conversion v2.0
Time

The Aluminum Falcon said:

Hello I couldn't think exactly which thread to put this in; however since this question relates to PAL to NTSC conversion albeit a different kind than described here, I thought this might be the best place.
Anyway, I was just making a quick PAL to NTSC conversion for some friends, using the DGPulldown method Doctor M described here in his Reinventing the Wheel thread:

Doctor M said:

Now if you augment this by demuxing the audio and video then using DGPulldown from 25 fps to 29.97 fps and remuxing/authoring you have a different beast altogether.
I saw this for the first time today and thought it was genius, what they are doing is using IFO edit to fool the DVD player into resizing the video to NTSC for you. The DGPulldown keeps the video at 25 fps on the disc but the DVD player performs telecining on the fly up to 29.97 fps for you (no I didn't think that was possible either). The huge benefit is the audio does NOT have to be re-encoded. In fact nothing does. You're just tweaking a bunch of flags and let the hardware do the rest for you.

Now comes my question: If the PAL disc has an audio delay, when you remux will you use the exact same audio delay? I'm generally awful at calling how out of sync the audio is, so I was wondering if there was a way to calculate exactly what the new audio delay (if there is a new one.)

I am not DrM LOL but I have done these conversions a ton of times, when I get my PAL audio and it has a delay on it, for example -67 let's say, I will use DVDLab Pro, DelayCut or whatever you use and correct the PAL audio with the delay -67, then I would use EAC3to or BeSweet\BeLight to slow down to NTSC, then once you convert the video from PAL to NTSC, everything should be 100% in sync, not sure if this is how everyone else does it but it works for me, and knock on wood, I have not had any sync issues at all.

Info: DVNR smearing in GOUT not in the master...? Or is the 1995 release a different master altogether...?

The few LD screens posted except the last two on this page are instances were the LD transfers clearly beats the GOUT transfer.

That is clearly debatable, but as I said, to each their own, all these LD projects that have sprung up over the past few weeks just look like....well I will just leave it alone, everyone has their own tastes, and I think it is great that people still really enjoy these, I just absolutely cannot watch ANY of my old LD transfers, or anyone else's for that matter, they look WAAAY worse than the V3 DVD or the Blu that I am doing now, now does that mean that the V3 and the Blu are perfect, HELL no, but it is better than all this...... :) (Frink says I should start using these, so there was a smiley)

*edit - 1 more thing, at least I can pop in my latest Blu project, and sit down and actually enjoy what I am watching and hearing, I can't say that with any of my LD's, and I have pretty much ALL NTSC LD's.

OK, here is a small update on things, I know I wanted to have these done by the weekend, well maybe not know, but damn close, so this is where I am at, Star Wars is done and I am ready to burn copies, Empire Strikes Back, is done, just need to author it up and burn another test copy to watch it all the way through, Return Of The Jedi, is done, I watched all the way through today and found nothing wrong, so ready to burn copies, I was wanting to finish Empire up tomorrow but I have to go to a Family Reunion first and then I will watch my NASCAR Race when I get home, so if I have time after that I will finish things up, but now it is looking like sometime Monday I will be finished, WOO HOO!

I wonder, though...why didn't you also use Vegas to make the subsequent AC3?

Vegas 8.0 (or at least my copy) doesn't give me control of the AC3 bitrate

Well, I don't know about the other parts, but I've always been able to control the bit rate. Weird.

Me to, you can do all this right in Vegas, no need for freeware.

LOL, some of you guys really LOVE your LD's to be going through all of them like this, I am 100% with Harmy on this one, I will probably never, ever watch an LD capture again, I definitely will never capture one again, but hey, to each their own right? but to me, I think all these screens that get posted in this thread and others look like shit, especially in motion on a large HDTV screen, I do agree with captainsolo above, the 97 SE LD's do look pretty good, a lot better than all these being posted, except for the pink issue he stated.
