Just want to let anyone know that is interested in our(You_Too and I) new BLU V2, testing is underway, I was messing around with Empire and I am really impressed big time, I have to admit, at first though it kind of looked funny so colorful, but that is because I am so used to what these videos look like before, or maybe only with very mild color alteration, like in BLU V1, but anyone who got BLU V1, this is really going to be different, and in a very good way, it is a huge color difference.

well back to work.

Also it looks like a digitized VHS would require hardly any color correction at all - just less brightness and a touch more contrast or whatever :

Any thoughts about the VHS copy looking like complete shit? (excuse my French)

lol I was thinking the same thing, I have been following this thread a bit only because my partner You_Too has made some comments but these VHS captures suck really bad, and I have done a few of them myself lol, and on top of that, fullscreen? what is that?

I've looked everywhere for the covers that are in the first post here and I can't find them. Could someone let me know where I can get them?

You get them when you get the Discs, they are always included, I do not make separate uploads for the covers, so if you downloaded the movie, you should have gotten the covers, unless it was the first Blu-ray Set, then I email you the covers after I send you the Discs, and I will not upload them by themselves sorry.

How did you get around the usb problem DJ?

There are a shitload of connections on the back, I just plugged into the USB 3.0 instead of the normal ones above it lol, but now I have the drivers in Windows 7 Pro 64 for the USB 3.0 so I probably could switch back now if I wanted, they just were not installed at the start.

Does anyone know if h_h's new mix is lossless-sourced? Otherwise maybe there's no reason to make a DTS-HD MA track of it?

I think h_h's old SW mix was in AC3 448kbps.

As before, the main source is Belbucus' 1993 PCM stereo track; and for this version the edited sections come from Mallwalker's 1985 mix, also lossless.  Due to the specific properties of the bass, the best source for much of the LFE channel is the lossy 1997 mix.

While download links were only ever made generally available for the 448 kbps AC3 encodes of the first versions, d_j did obtain the uncompressed files, though with his computer issues I don't know if he still has them.  This time I hope to eventually post all the tracks in lossless form as well as in AC3, so DTS-HD MA encodes are certainly feasible.  Since most of the audio is laserdisc-sourced, the resolution is 16-bit rather than 24, but all the available sound quality will be preserved.  ;)

*goes back to working on the mixes*

Thanks Hairy for the update, I am looking forward to encoding a new DTS-HD MA 5.1 file once you are done, I will keep an eye on my PM's :)

also Great news Guys!

You_Too was correct, it was not freezing on me, I just could not tell it what to do because I was in the USB 3.0 ports lol(my mouse and key board) Thank GOD it was an easy fix, and sorry I did not comment last night, my little Boy and Wife and I went to see Underworld Awakening IMAX 3D last night and then went out for Dinner, I had to leave and get my mind off the darn PC lol, but when I got home and read You_Too's PM I actually chuckled a little bit, but it worked, all is running great and Windows 7 Pro 64 bit sees all my drives and is using all 16 GB's of RAM.

We are currently pounding the hell out of it to make sure it will run stable and keep cool, so far everything is looking real good, this CPU runs at 3.5GHz with Turbo it goes to 3.9GHZ, but we have it at 4.5GHz, as You_Too said, we will keep it at a "sane" overclock level lol.

Thanks again You_Too for all your help and guidance in this adventure, it was fun and frustrating all at the same time, but it was 1 hell of a learning experience, I can't wait to rebuild my old PC for my little guy now!

I know you don't need any help but with all that ram I'd take out all but one stick, ( or do they have to run in pairs?) and try that. The other thing possibly hanging is your video cards. Try running just one for install.

And last but not least boot into safe mode and installing windows from there might help.

Still a no go, I used You_Too bios settings, and removed all but 1 4GB stick, and removed 1 video card and sli bridge, and it still will not install friggin Windows 7.

Looks like I have exhausted all suggestions, damn this sux!

Thanks vbangle, I did try 1 video card, and safe mode, but not together lol, and I have not pulled any memory yet, You_Too told me to try that to, but I was hoping to figure it out without that lol, then I have to drop the radiator and un do the wires in the back, out of curiosity I thought Win 7 64 bit can handle a ton of RAM, is this not the case?

Thanks again.

Well I am sorry to let everyone know, but it is going to be a while longer before I can get to work on BLU V2, as powerful as this PC is going to be, and as nice looking as it is lol, the fracking thing will not install Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, it just freezes on the first screen, the one where it asks for language, time zone, etc. and the only way out is to kill the power.

But on the bright side at least the bios detects the 3 hard drives, my 2 burners, and all 16 GB's of RAM, and the CPU was running at around 18-20c, granted it was only on at the longest a half hour to 45 mins and not under a load.

So that is where I am at, hopefully I can figure this out sometime soon.

Sorry Guys

You might want to space out those hard drives a bit for better cooling but yeah, we are all drooling, thanks DJ...:)

I'm going to go for a walk, maybe then I won't be so jealous of DJ's rig...

Thanks again vbangle for the hard drive tip, they are now spaced apart, and it also looks better lol.

DJ, I'm sure you won't but just a quick reminder, don't run the machine for extended periods with the cover off. It's important the casing cover be put back on because it forces airflow from the front of the case (away from the drives) out the back fan. If (later) you find heating a problem - esp on the drives, the large back fan just needs higher RPM. I've been working in the storage and RAID industry for 15 years - overheating is the second most common cause of disk drive problems after repeated start-stop mechanical reasons.

EDIT: After looking at your PC, I have to go take a cold shower... ;P

No worries, it definitely will not be staying open, I am moving it into my PC room now to fire it up and load Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit, once I see it is running cool and no other weirdness then the side panel will get put on, I am no hillbilly lol I run my sports car with the hood on, not like all those idiots that have to cruise around with the hoods off.

I assume we're also still waiting on new audio from h_h before anything final?

Well besides the video being all redone I would like to use h_h's new audio to encode a new DTS-HD MA 5.1 track, but if it does not happen, then it does not happen, but I am also redoing some of the other optional tracks using higher quality rips.

Thanks Guys, like i said, this is my very first time ever building my own PC, sure I have added things before, but never building the whole thing lol, I am actually liking it a lot, it is actually still sitting open(like in the picture) on the table right now, I keep looking to see if I can hide the cables more but I am pretty certain there is no more I can do, You_Too showed me pictures of "clean builds" and there were some of my actual case lol, so I wanted to do as good as I possibly could.

I have to admit though, I am a little nervous about the firing up lol, I surely hope I don't see sparks and flames, and I am also old school when it comes to CPU cooling, I have always used big ass fans lol, this is my first time with water cooling.

So very soon You_Too and I can really get things rolling and finish this BLU V2!

... I was looking at the French version but I hate reading my movies...

This reminds me, I've been wondering: is the PAL / NTSC difference still exists on Blu Rays ?

... I hate having movies running faster. That problem really sucks.

No but some are still region coded(A,B,C,etc.) and standard definition extras still could be in PAL\NTSC, so they still have ways to mess with us.

I just got Pakt Der Wolfe(Brotherhood of The Wolf) from a German Blu-ray Group Buy and it has the regular cut and director's cut, I can't wait to watch this one, I was looking at the French version but I hate reading my movies, this one has English DTS-HD MA 5.1 on it.

Plus it has a great looking lenticular slip box on it, very nice packaging.

For right now we are not taking requests for certain scenes or parts, everything right now is preliminary, we still need to fully test everything so please don't ask(at least not yet) we will be able to start serious testing hopefully as early as mid to end of next week, all we can show for now is a few screens here and there.

also for those of you who really are not interested in this project of upscaling the GOUT video for a Blu-ray release(and you know who you are) please do not post in this thread acting like you do, because you made it pretty clear in other threads and posts that you do not, Thanks for your cooperation.

Also nice to see you dropping by Doctor M, always love chatting with you, and picking your brain lol.

I have said this before but I feel I need to say it again, these will never look perfect, there is just no way, you can only filter these files so much, and there will be no release of this looking full of DVNR and waxy looking, so if anyone wants that you will have to make your own I'm afraid.

This is why I have the disclaimer in the first post of this thread, this set is not for everyone, we are trying to get this new set to look and sound the absolute best we can, no more, no less.

*now for a PC update, all parts are here, just waiting on the case and I should be up and running early to mid next week, can't wait to try out its power!

1 more thing, We(You_Too and I) do want to hear all your suggestions, but please keep them real lol, we all know very well what we are working with, there is no miracle cures for these transfers.

Thanks for the quick response. So the V1 blu-rays were never available publicly. (Just as the V2 DVD's never were)

So the main advantages of the blu-ray V2 would be:

Lossless audio (In the form of dts-hd and pcm tracks?)
better quality video (720p and additional tweaking?)

otherwise it's going to be fairly similar to the V3 DVD's?

Edit: Super glad to hear your computer problems are being resolved.

Fairly similar I guess, but the 720p video even on V1 Blu-ray still looks way better than the V3 DVD, but that is just me, but his new BD version will be the last and final, no more SW I will do, I am getting pretty close to starting to hate all things SW lol.

My new PC will be way, way more powerful than my last one, with a new i7 Intel CPU, 16GB's RAM, new faster hard drives, way better video cards, and water cooled.

Hi jbracciante,

I'm not sure if you read the first post of the thread or not, but there have been three DVD versions released to date, with the third and final being the one most people are viewing at this point.

As for the blu-ray versions, although the first post states they are unfinished, dark_jedi did release the... I guess you'd call them "work prints"... to a small group of people (those who kindly donated blank BDs for testing).  However, DJ has since stated that he's restarted the BD versions from scratch, but, as you read, is unable to work on them currently.

So, in short, V.3 of the DVDs is where this project's currently at.

This is all correct, with 1 exception, there may be a V4 DVD in the works along with a V2 Blu-ray, and my PC woes are hopefully coming to an end soon.

Thanks Harmy, but we will see what happens, he may just release something himself, and I am not sure how long it will be before I can even do anything project related, if it wasn't for my lap top I wouldn't even be able to get online lol, so the V3 DVD and the first BD Set might just be it for me.

also very sorry I did not get to that file you needed yet, now I obviously can't access it at all

again, take care Everyone.

Thank God for Skyrim lol, this has taken my mind of things for now.

OK I am here to give a small update on things, and the news is not good, first off the good updates, well SW & Jedi were almost done, I was still waiting on the new and improved hairy_hen audio files, and I put the new files I had ripped from the LD's in synch and ready to go, but Empire still had some work to be done, but since all this working and waiting I have to admit I got really burned out on this V2 Blu lol(this is why I did the Conan project, needed something new to do) but since then You_Too has renewed my interest and we are working on something together that looks very, very nice, we had some very promising results, I was even tossing around doing a V4 DVD with the new master avi for the BD's, and my other goal here is to eliminate someones script entirely OUT of the picture, because this certain someone deserves absolutely no credit at all!

Now to the very bad news, you guys are going to be waiting much longer for these to be finished and uploaded, my powerful work horse PC has officially died Friday Night, the motherboard crapped out, so all files and programs, and my BD burner are unavailable for a while, now like I said in the Conan thread, my lap top is pretty powerful, but not that powerful, plus I need access to all my drives and files and programs lol.

So take care Everyone, I hope you all had a Happy and Safe Holidays!

Thanks for all the interest, I may do a BD9 version but there are 3 audio options on this, do I leave them all for the BD9 or just the main and ditch the Iso Scores? also I have no artwork for a BD9 version, you would have to modify the Blu-ray cover I guess.

also now I want to let you guys know the bad news, I have just lost my motherboard on my powerful work horse PC, so at this time ALL projects are on hold indefinitely, obviously I can't access any of those drives, my BD burner, programs, scripts, anything, and although my laptop is pretty powerful as well, it is not that powerful.

So that is it folks, once all is good again I will post details, so thanks and take care.
