So what DVD is the right color timing? this thread is a little confusing.
So what DVD is the right color timing? this thread is a little confusing.
Speaking of Conan The Barbarian does anyone here have these DVD's, either the R2 Holland, R3 and R4 SE? I would love to get the English DTS track if at all possible.
Thanks
*edit - never mind this question lol, I have it on my 2-disc Set R2 DVD.
Hope you enjoy it, thank you.

jedi, it's because everyone I know gets far more coasters when burning duels vs single layer. Hence the nervousness and intimidation. And heck, some burners just ain't so good at it. A good friend of mine was getting a 35%+ coaster ratio so he replaced his burner and presto, now it's around ten %.
Then get a good burner and buy good blanks, I have yet(knocks on wood) burn a bad BD50, no coasters at all(knocks on wood again) pioneer burner and Verbatim blanks all the way.
Careful, my friend... You are responding without knowing the facts. He had a good burner and only used the best blanks. Yet he still ended up with lots of coasters. He got frustrated and bought a new burner and now its ok. His old burner is still in use for single layer discs (and always works perfectly).
Shit happens. I know plenty of people who get coasters here and there. As for me, ImgBurn is verifying my CONAN burn as I type this. Amazing how fast I was able to download it, by the way. I'll be able to pop it in my PS3 by ten PM if all goes well.
Well then maybe you should state all of them then, I can only respond to what you have typed and I am able to read right? so my answers stand.
Burner, Discs and Imgburn, what else is there that can make so many coasters? unless you do not know what to set the speed to, these are all that is needed, but who cares it seems you got it now so just enjoy and we will just leave it at that.
Does anyone know of any HD-DVD Horror titles that are not on BD yet? these are actually my favorite movies lol.

@SilverWook - Yes, I have the Animal House combo disc and Amazon has it listed still for under $5...
http://www.amazon.com/National-Lampoons-Animal-House-Combo/dp/B000G8P1VE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374273379&sr=8-1&keywords=Animal+House+hd-dvd
@DJ - That would be great if you just slapped Streets of Fire onto BD, no extras or Team Blu time involved... just a basic transfer of the film. There are many fans out there who never jumped on HD-DVD and they are still waiting for a Blu-ray. By the way Deej, Thanks for everything you have done. I really, really appreciate all your work here. Conan is awesome and these projects just keep things alive around here. Couldn't ask for better craftsmanship.
Hey no problem flex, really glad you like what we have been doing, and you know what I figured since I am done seeding and uploading I would grab my HD-DVD of SoF and rip it and create the BD, well guess what, I looked in my stack and I already did lol, movie only, chapters taken form HD-DVD and the audio is Dolby Digital Plus 5.1, and it only weighs in at 12.3 GB's, way smaller then Conan lol.
Midnight Run is also done and a really good movie that is not on Blu, and this version of Slither looks great! much better then the 1080i Canadian release.
Thanks again for the kind words.

LMAO! I just have to answer this, do not listen to him, go ahead and get excited, the Xbox 360 HD DVD player is what most people, if not all I know that does these kinds of projects use, I use it myself, so YES you can rip your HD DVD's with what you have, you just need to make sure you get the driver is all.
d_j,
If you HAVE a problem with me, take it to pm, do NOT bring it into someone's thread. Otherwise I WILL ask a moderator to step in.
Thanks
Feel free to do what you feel you need, I was just correcting your falsehoods, maybe you need to calm down there little guy.
lol it is no different then burning a BD25, you just burn a little slower and it takes longer, I do not understand why some feel, what word to use lol, intimidated when burning these, I just don't get it, I mean there is no difference between burning DVD5 and DVD9's, well except for the layer break but Imgburn sets that for you.

Streets of Fire is visually stunning and even better in HD. It ain't a perfect film but it sure does look great.
It is on my to do list but probably not by the whole Team, we have to many projects going at once lol for me to add more, so what I am doing is just getting the movie on BD with the audio and chapters, so it is a "movie only" but at least it can be watched and enjoyed.
Except for Feast, since this is the only Unrated version I wanted to include this film and the other 2 sequels as extras since I am fairly certain those will not get a BD release.

Animal House is much much better on HD-DVD and also Streets of Fire with Diane Lane is only available on HD-DVD. It looks incredible if you're into DL in her prime.
This is one I am doing, I did not get many HD-DVD's myself just the titles that really interest me, the titles I have are these,
Seed of Chucky
King Kong (came with the player)
The Thing
Sneakers
The Hitcher
Black X-Mas Unrated
Army of Darkness
Feast Unrated
Slither
Streets of Fire
Midnight Run
Cat People
The Dukes of Hazzard Unrated
Dolby Digital+ shows up on my BD's when played, my HD receiver even shows DD+ when watching.

SO again, good luck to you on that, and put me down for a copy when finished, will it be bonus only to be a companion to the retail BD?
Good question! I haven't decided yet.
The "main feature" would be the rip of the "The Making of Escape From L.A. – Snake is Back" HBO special.
lol I am derailing my own thread lol, but anyways if you want the PCM track then you would have to include the movie, but if this is just for you then I would do just a companion BD myself.
AntcuFaalb said:
I've been thinking about doing an extras-packed BD for Escape From L.A.
Most of the extras would come from here: http://www.theefnylapage.com/videos.htm
The BD is bare-bones.
Good luck! after all the extras we have for our NOTLD 90 SE we have decided not to do so many extras no more, this project is rally a pain in the butt, it will be great when finished but damn is it a lot of work, our menu guy is working his ass off on this one, so after this one we are going to drastically cut down the amount of extras we include, although the original NOTLD 68 will have a lot but not as many.
SO again, good luck to you on that, and put me down for a copy when finished, will it be bonus only to be a companion to the retail BD?

dark_jedi: I'd love the 2.0 digital PCM track from the Escape From L.A. LD! Has he ripped that?
Actually we were thinking on getting it but I thought there would be no interest, is the BD audio F'd up on that as well?
Are there any members here that use this site Uploaded.net? if so, I have met a very generous member at blu-ray.com who actually has supplied many LD's for some future projects and actually has 4 more on the way and he has supplied me info for a premium account there for us to use, so by late tonight or Saturday morning I will have links if anyone is interested.
Thanks
These LD's we have for the bit perfect ripped PCM and other tracks,
Jaws
E.T. Signature Edition
Total Recall
Christine
Fright Night
Escape From New York
Mortal Kombat DTS LD
and more....
I wish there was a Laserdisc for Fright Night 2!

1 thing I am going to do this time is when I see the snatches get higher then the seeders I am going to contact a MOD or Admin over there and see if we can see who the members are, other torrent sites show you this info, well I know I would really want to see who is hit and running and then we can see what can be done, as of now there is 6 snatches and 5 seeders so we will see.
damn I really hate torrents, but I hate file share sites even more, those would be OK if they were not so expensive and were trustworthy.
Usenet is still the best IMO.
Did you get a chance to see if I'm listed as connectable?
According to Spleen you are, well hopefully this goes well, there are a lot of members here that like Spleen, hell I like it pretty well, I used this site for years, but this BD50 is going to be the test for us, so if you guys want us to keep using Spleen show us support, this BD and NOTLD 90 SE are huge, hell maybe we should look into uploading Teams for sharing lol.

Quite slow? are you fracking kidding me? Spleen and my torrent client shows 5, there will be 6 once I jump back on, I just started this at around 7:30 PM last night, it also looks like there will be another seeder very soon and there are over 5 members at over 50% so you say this is SLOW! wow.
I can't help if members do not know how to set up their torrent client correctly.
I just want to say this here, I put this on Spleen in hopes that you guys here and the guys there will help keep this seeded for all that want it, if it dies out in a matter of a few days or a few weeks we will look somewhere else to upload Team Blu Projects, I cannot keep these files on my main drives for long after I send out all the copies I am sending and get the initial seed going, this will now be replaced with NOTLD 90 SE soon so PLEASE help us share this or you may lose the Spleen as an option from us.
Thanks
Well obviously you did not read the NFO.
"This torrent will include all official artwork(blu-ray case and slip covers) and this NFO."

DJ, there are a lot of people that say that JP 3DBD is perfect - it has the right colors and the whole frame intact... well, to me the colors are not right - but this is questionable as I'm afraid I have no eidetic memory... at least the second statement is false, as laserdisc has more picture informations at all four sides than the 3DBD... so, it could be declared that JP 3DBD is the best version ever released, but it's NOT perfect, and someone like me (and other people) prefer to have an option to see another version, also if its quality is lower than a BD - and they spent weeks, literaly, to download it...
So, I agree with you that today the HD-DVD of "The Thing" is the best version ever released, but... is this "perfect"? If I discover that, for example, the PAL version has more picture information on the four sides (like JP), or have a better color timing, I could *think* to start a laserdisc preservation, that will be never on par or near the HD-DVD (or BD), video quality wise, but could be appreciated by someone... obviously, if they have the same video, I will not waste time to do it, don't you think?
As I'm almost sure my friend has the HD-DVD of it, I'm thinking about a HD-DVD video plus LD audio will be an exciting new challenge - think that right now I have NO idea how to rip an HD-DVD (or a BD, by the way)... well, did you understand the spirit? (I should find a new acronym for this thing)
You could be right, I'm wasting my time doing stupid preservation (almost) no one wants/needs, but I discovered and learnt so many things thanks to them, and also to many members of this forum, that I'm happy I've done them. At the end, this is an hobby, and we all make it for fun, isn't true? At least, give me your opinion about my laserdisc projects... do you think they are so awful?
Now we are going off topic in Jonno's thread, yes these are to be fun of course and people can do what they want, but people can also voice opinions as well, and now it seems you want mine, well all I can tell you is I have not downloaded them and have zero interest to, I will not waste that much bandwidth on downloading a LD Blu-ray lol, to me this is a waste, that said I fully realize that Team Blu is working on GOUT upscales for our OT and 97 SE Sets, well because of You_Too's talents and the efforts from the rest of the Team these will be great! but after we are done with these, we will no longer do anything with VHS\LD\DVD video again, unless this is the only source for an extra or there is a must tech reason for it like PCM audio or a DTS track etc., so I mean no offense but I will never see what you did.
Sorry Jonno for the de railing of your thread, that said looking forward to whatever you end up doing audio wise, I am sure whichever route you go will be worth it in the end.

No problem to convert PAL speed to proper 23.976fps and sync it to the video. Well, according to LDDB:
"When Palmer shouts to Nauls' to "turn that crap down, I was shot today!", a different track, Superstition by Stevie Wonder, is playing from Nauls' ghetto blaster in the kitchen. A different track plays on the Pioneer Cinema PAL release [PLFEB 33051]. I dont remember Stevie on the 1980's UK video releases either...
...The Stevie Wonder track is the original song played in the movie. The song was changed in some releases due to licensing."
So, strictly speaking, the PAL LD soundtrack is not the original... should it must be included in a preservation then?
Now that I know that HD-DVD has a better quality than BD, I'd like to know if the HD-DVD is the "right" version to go... I mean, has it good colors, no missing edges, no missing frames/scenes, no alterations? I agree with DJ that a poor LD could not stand at the same level of a well crafted HD-DVD or BD, but if I have to choose, I prefer lower resolution video with the closest image to the original theatrical version, than the top-notch-out-of-this-world video quality *enanched* edition - but you know, I'm an old man from an old continent who loves old analog video formats, so... (^^,)
Have you not been reading this thread? the HD DVD is the go to video right now, until a new remaster comes out if any does, I hope it does at some point but who knows, but almost all want this but you still question it lol, believe me, your LD capture will not touch this HD DVD video, there is just no way.
