Anyone seen that Evil Dead II extended Blu-Ray? I'm curious to see if it's at all worthwhile. EDII always felt edited to me, especially in the scene where Ash chops up Evil Ed off-screen.
Link? never heard of an extended cut blu-ray, hell or DVD for that matter.

OK just a small update here, testing has begun, hopefully this will be ready and out the door in a few days!
After viewing the absolutely spectacular Conan disc that Team Blu put together, I can't wait to see this.
Out of curosity, DJ, how may GBs did this project weigh in at? Is it larger than the Conan disc?
It is the same size, and I am burning a test BD right now, fingers crossed we can finally get this out the door!
OK I have my LD player back now and it is hooked up to my PC, I also set my X-Fi for bit accurate recording, I have tested ripping with Audition but this program just keeps crashing for some darn reason, I have also tried Creatives WaveStudio, all I am trying to do now is just get something ripped, I will check for bit accuracy after I know I can do it, so what program do you guys use to rip the tracks ac3, PCM and DTS?
1 more thing, I bought new\sealed Conan The Destroyer Japanese LD because it is the only release with Digital Audio, well this LD plays way to fast! sounds like darn chipmunks, now I have other Japanese LD's that do not do this, does anyone know why this is? I am going to be pissed if I wasted my money on this, this is 1 track I really want to rip and put in synch with the BD.
Thanks

to clarify...
on various blu-ray forums it was rumored that only the hong-kong blu-ray had the chorus, which was missing from the u.s. and european blu-ray, fully intact. the problem was, that no one with the disc actually confirmed or denied it. that's why i asked you, since you seam to have this disc. so in terms of proper would mean the chorus is intact.
as for the censoring of the horse falls on the u.k. bd. you can avoid this by chaning the language of your player to anything but english. this will play the movie in it's uncut state.
OK I did answer you, ALL BD's had these errors.
and yes that is true for the "old" UK BD, but as I said they made an attempt to fix the audio errors and the day/night scene, well they fixed the day/night scene but the supposed fixed audio sounds terrible! and on the "new" UK BD you cannot use that trick anymore, it is censored.
zeropc said:
dj, can you confirm or deny that the hong-kong bd of conan has the proper 5.1 mix? there is still some debate on the subject and it would nice to have the final answer from someone like yourself :)
Not sure I understand what you mean, none of the retail BD's has the proper 5.1 mix they all have these errors I explained above, explain a little more by what you mean "proper"? hell none of these movies Barbarian or Destroyer had 5.1 mixes when they released at the theater.
I do know that the UK releases tried to fix it but it sounded like pure shit, and it was censored for the horse falls.
Quite some time ago I made a new fixed DTS-HD MA 5.1 track for the longer Fox Extended Cut retail BD, well at the time I did it we were only aware of 3 errors, well since then 2 more have come to light, well I have re done the HD track from scratch because of all I have learned and better tools as well, so now I want to let all you Conan Fans know that I have an "all new" HD track done and it is ready, it is in complete synch with the longer Fox release, I used my HK BD myself, and now ALL Choral parts are restored, ALL missing instruments are restored, and the Horse gallops are now gone from the track, I was told 2 of these fixes were going to be nearly impossible to fix but I have fixed them, there is no phasing or anything like that, there was a very kind member from blu-ray.com with a music background constantly checking ALL my samples, hell he heard shit I didn't even catch, so his help was great!
The errors were,
1. the opening raid, missing choral parts, all restored
2. Conan leaves Valeria horse gallops could be heard, no more!
3. after ghosts fail to take Conan's soul, choral parts restored
4. the orgy scene was missing the "gong" now restored
5. the Battle of The Mounds missing choral parts, now restored
so if there is any interest in this just shoot me a PM for links, I use uploaded.net.
OK Laserdisc Service has my Player in top notch working order and it has had a tune-up, it looks like I will have it by mid or end of next week, I also have a new Yamaha APD-1 on the way as well so I cannot wait to learn how to do all this stuff myself, as I said this will really help us out in moving things along instead of waiting on shipping and the guy ripping to free up time, plus I am not real happy about mailing my LD's off lol.
So hopefully next weekend I can start doing some testing on this and get it all sorted.
Does anyone happen to have any links to these M-Audio cards? I keep getting nothing and just in case I do need to get a different card I would like to look into this one, it seems to be the one most talk about, and it would be nice to have both coax and optical, now I only have optical.
Thanks

blu-ray has the original 1982 theatrical cut with another 7.1 upmix :(
Well good then the audio will be good a couple of ways, so if the theatrical is on BD why the interest in this 1080i file then? this is getting confusing.
Well I should have the DVD to but it probably is not that great looking.
I would love to work this up as a bonus disc to my Ninja Trilogy Blu-ray.

Is there a theatrical LD for some better audio? I assume the Signature LD audio I have already is for the longer cut Special Edition.
longer cut? afaik there are only two cuts of the movie. the 1982 version and the 2002 s.e.. unless there is a third version, then the signature edition has the original 1982 cut on it.
I said assume, obviously I am mistaken right, good then I have good audio for this HD file I have then, so I assume the Special Edition(longer cut) is what is on the BD's? or am I wrong there as well?
Well I can say I got this file years ago, because I searched for it when this was brought up and then happened to look at my HD 1080i list and found out I already had it lol.

Is there a simple way to make a logo like this gone without hurting the image in any way?
Thanks
lol it exists, I have this 1080i HD video, but it is not the correct OAR of 1.85:1 this is 1.78:1 I also have the Signature Edition LD audio rip.
Duncan won't have the player until Friday and I do not know what his turn around time is, I assume it does not take to long.

D_J, I always used AviSynth to capture video from laserdisc, along any kind of audio (PCM, DTS, AC3); then you could use any software to manipulate the captured soundtrack. If you need further info, let me know.
I jumped into the HD-DVD bandwagon few days ago, and now you came into my realm... "Welcome to the world of the analog video disc!" (^^,)
How does Avisynth rip laserdisc audio? I am mainly concerned with ripping bit accurate rips of the PCM and DTS, followed by AC3, I want to learn and test(once my player is back) on Mortal Kombat DTS LD.

Thank you for the response, it just sucks you can't find any real in depth info online regarding this, if you think of anything else to add please do, thanks again.
well I did find this,
Do you have that dialog window available with the drivers/applications that were installed to support your sound card?
Yes I can get it to pop up, I have the X-fi card, but once set what software does the actual ripping? Vegas Pro? Audacity? Cool Edit Pro? or something different? lol I will probably have my LD player back to me before I even know how to do this, oh well just keep searching lol, but we really need to figure this out for future projects, so maybe some might not have the bit perfect PCM.

Google around to see if the 70SB088000004 does bit-accurate recordings via its TOSLINK input.
Unbelievably, some cards don't, even though the data itself is digital!
Thanks for that info, I have been searching and can't find anything that says yes or no, this whole subject is rather irritating when searching for info, I can find nothing anywhere, unless I am not using the right search terms lol.
Hi Everyone,
In the past I have always tried to find members that could do this for our Team and myself, well I believe the time has come that I learn this myself, I just sent out today my LD Player which is a Pioneer CLD-79 Elite, this baby is mint! but she needs a tune-up, so I am sure Duncan will do a sweet job, I have read nothing but good from this guy so I can't wait!
My PC is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and 16GB RAM, not sure if this matter but that is what it is, I am looking for an RF Demodulator but it seems Ebay is a little slim at the moment, but from what little I could find online I only need this for ripping AC3 files, but what is needed for ripping the Digital PCM and the DTS tracks? and the biggest question of all that I found zero info on is what software is used when ripping AC3, Digital PCM and DTS? with all these projects we have going and such I need a quicker turn around time for these audio files, so if anyone at all can steer us to a guide, or has the answers needed, please post them, and by the way this is the sound card I have, not sure if this is up to par or I need to upgrade.
Creative 70SB088000004 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Express 1x Interface PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I will listen to the whole score sometime for sure, but I think most people will hear enough of it even when choosing the 5.1 mix, since the score is pretty loud in it.
Actually, why not upload ABC's score remix as a separate CD on myspleen?
Because it is not done yet.
I was hoping it would be done when we released but it wasn't, and I have no idea when it will be.
Come on guys am I to believe that no one has listened to ABC's FULL score track? I know I am biased being on the Team and all but this is hands down the absolute best full score I have ever heard, he literally worked his ass off to create this, and he even said himself this blows away the Imperial Edition DVD we did for ESB, and that sounded great! so please if you haven't listened to it yet, please take some time and give it a spin and tell him\us what you think?
Thanks
lol I really do not know why I keep buying these things, but at least they are very, very cheap! but I have these titles coming in next week, I feel I got very luck on the Terminator version I got though.
Talk To Me
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Terminator 2 France version 2-HD DVD Set (Theatrical and Extended)
Animal House
The Mummy
The Mummy Returns

DJ, do you happen to know which subtitles would fit this restoration? Would that be the early DVD release subs?
You can try and re time the DVD subs, but obviously you do have to have the first US release DVD for the US Theatrical version, or you could get the subs from the Universal BD and edit and time those for this release, the Universal BD was the base for this, not the Fox BD, for some reason the Universal release already had the Conan\Subotai scene removed, just another reason how this release across the board has been fucked up, why in the hell would Uni not have that scene when all previous DVD's besides the US cut had it? but it did make our job just slightly easier since it was gone lol.
lol so if We in the US wanted the full extended version we have to import, Fox is full uncut.
hope this helps
