I just wanted to let you guys know that without the guy getting these HD files for us some of these projects would have never been done, I know he is anonymous but PLEASE give thanks to him as well for making some of these even possible, with that said we are currently working on getting these HD files possibly this weekend!

Shocker
Rapid Fire
Showdown in Little Tokyo
The Arrival

so are there LD's for all but Shocker that have anything of use? I have Shocker already and it has digital PCM!

Thanks

* 1 more thing with our projects, if at any time a project we are doing gets an official release date we stop what we are doing for this, for example I wanted to do Death Wish but it finally got a release date and as a matter of fact it releases next week, so we are not doing it, unless the retail release is royally F'd up for some reason.

Are there any fans of the movie Legend? if so can someone tell me what are the exact differences between the 3 cuts? I am tossing around an idea and I would love to know what the exact differences are between the 3 cuts, which are Director's, US Theatrical, and I am not sure what the other version is called lol, but I have it on my UK BD.

Thanks

I have the UK and US discs but am yet to watch all three back to back but I think with the discs there is no need for a new one

You obviously did not read all that was written lol, I want to do a "fan edit" version, my version.

I also wanted to comment on Donations to the Team for what we need and such, I have been getting a lot of PM's here and at other forums on this and I really do not know what to say about this, we do need supplies, we will always need them, so far it has mostly all been out of my pocket, but now that we use printable blanks now the price of BD25's went up(well kind of, it is only available in a 50 pack, price is actually pretty much the same) we will always need BD25's, BD50's and Viva Elite 1 & 2 disc cases, shipping supplies and now my BD burner looks to be taking a crap, this actually does not surprise me with all the burning I have been doing over the past couple years.

So basically I guess I am trying to say I still have no idea what to do here, or even how to handle it, I just know I cannot keep paying most all the expenses myself much longer, but I really do not want all these damn great goodies we do go to waste, mini lobby cards, reversible cover art, inside cover art, and soon mini posters, and more!

Here you go, my friend: http://www.figmentfly.com/published/legendarticle.html

That's from the original author, so it's the fully uncut version of the article; i.e., no magazine editing.

He also has shot-by-shot breakdowns for each cut!

Enjoy!

Thanks a ton for this link, does anyone know how to make a pdf file of this with image if possible for offline viewing?

 I made a quick version here....  https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6966638/Fairy%20Dust%20_%20Reconstructing%20LEGEND%20by%20Sean%20Murphy.pdf

Thanks a lot for this, just what I needed lol, no reason for the mag now.

It's the American release that shows Darkness right away, spoiling his more dramatic entry later on in the film.

There was an old issue of Video Watchdog (No. 29) that had an article “Reconstructing Legend,” which broke down the differences between the American and European cuts of the film using the existing laserdisc editions, which was very informative. Obviously this doesn't take the Director's Cut into account, but given that most web resources will, this might be your best guide to the divergences between the original theatrical versions.

It may be VERY difficult to match footage up from the variant versions of the film as each are different transfers with different color timings from different eras (the DC looks pretty raggy by today's standards), but I'd be interested to see what you can do with it.

Could anything be done with the sound? The DC sounds a bit flat.

Can this Video Watchdog #29 be downloaded anywhere? as for the sound I would love to get the Tangerine Dream score to work, I like the other score as well but I grew up with and am more used to the Tangerine Dream score and just prefer it more.

Thanks for all that nice info Star, but is there anything telling\showing the exact differences between the 3 cuts? I know there is a 4th cut but that was a TV cut and really would not be very helpful, because from what little I know, there are some scenes on the European cut that is different then the DC and US, all 3 have little things here and there lol.

I have not done a movie edit in a very long time but this is a title I would really like to try and do at some point, hell I am not even sure it can be done but I want to at least try at some point, I want to include all footage in 1 film but I do not want the intro that shows Lord Darkness right away(can't remember which version shows him right from the start) this gives away to much to early lol, and don't laugh but I would like to try and use the Tangerine Dream score throughout the entire film, I have all score CD's to help where needed, but again not even sure it can be done smoothly, all this talk about The Neverending Story brought my thoughts back to this title, I use to play The Neverending Story, Legend and Labyrinth for my now oldest Son a ton back in the day and these kind of grew on me over the years and I still like all 3 of them very much.

Thanks

*edit, does anyone know if Leonenut is still a member here or even active on the Community? I helped him get his edits out into the wild back in the day.

One thing I did notice in the segments I sampled that could explain the sync troubles is that it looked like some of the dialog might have been overdubbed, especially in the scenes that appear to have been shot outdoors.  Maybe there were sound issues that forced them to have the actors go back and re-dub a lot of their lines.

This could be, this LD was crazy hard to work with, just ask the Team I was ready to bury this project and delete everything a few times, this project got me so pissed off it wasn't even funny, I mean I could have it perfect in Vegas but then watch the BD and it just didn't look right, I am just glad it is OVER!

Another great release by Team Blu. I got a chill as soon as the menu music started playing. Brought back a lot of memories of watching this in the late 80's and early 90's. The video was a lot better than I was expecting and the Master Audio track was really impressive. The only sync issue I noticed was the stage coach scene which had me laughing pretty hard at Slim Pickens, especially the "God damn! Blue Whistler musta caught her right in the third eye." line. A big thanks to all responsible for this release. I will enjoy this for years to come.

Thanks ROTS FAN for the great words, where at in that scene is it out? You_Too and I both went over this thing like crazy and I am really curious now lol, although now I do not have the files anymore, I have been doing some serious drive cleaning getting ready for our future projects we have coming after our little break.

I will say this again though, this project was a NIGHTMARE! if I come across any more LD's that are this hard to sync I will drop LD audio on future projects lol, we actually would like to get help in this if we can.

Any iPad mini or iPhone 5 experts here?
Time

I was starting to think no one knew how either, well since I have figured it out, I actually found a program that will do this for me, the game is Injustice: Gods Among Us, this program did exactly what I wanted, then my little Boy saw what I did and wanted my save because I have way more Elite V Gold Card Characters and I honestly did not think it would work being 2 different accounts, but guess what, it did work lol, so now my Son has all that I built up on his iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.

Well it seems a lot of you are really passionate about this film, well so are we, so all that said in the end we will decide what we will do, and what we can do to make things as good as we can, we have all our sources now in hand, US, German, Dutch, and now the Japanese Set, we always post screens and samples, so in the end if you are not satisfied with what we do well then just don't grab it lol, as much as we try our hardest to please everyone there will be times we just will not, I totally have faith that we will make this work, I mean we made the HDX version of Conan blend right in to the BD perfectly, and believe me it was not like this before we did it lol.

Thanks You_Too for posting all this info, and thanks to Kingherb for the pics and the nice zip file you sent me yesterday, we appreciate any and all help.

I haven't had the time to watch the movie all the way through, but I've skimmed through the film, checking out the different audio tracks and general quality.  The picture quality is good though I did notice a few short scenes where there was a lot of grain and noise, no doubt due to limitations in the available source materials, but overall the picture quality is really good, given the age of the film.  The audio came out better than expected after the issues with the 5.1 track and digital capture of the laserdisc analog audio were worked out and provide a good variety for all tastes.

The printing on the inside of the cover with the track listings and additional artwork was nice and the miniature lobby cards was a nice touch.  I'll post some photos when I get a chance to take a few pictures.

Also, it seems like all the racy scenes are conveniently marked with chapter stops.  I'm not sure if these were the chapters on the DVD/LD release or a creative decision by Team Blu. ;)

lol those chapters were all taken from the DVD, thank you for the review and I am sure people would love to see the pics when you get a chance.

The audio on the US BD is crap, they turned the bass way up so that it overwhelms all other sounds.  I had to turn off my subwoofer to watch it.

The audio on the Dutch BD is regular DTS and Dolby Digital only, but it sounds serviceable.  Not sure about the international theatrical cut in the JP BD set, I still need to watch it. But I assume the it's the same as the US BD since the JP set is also from Warner. At this point I'd probably just want to watch it with the Dolby Surround from the LD anyway.

There's some discussion of the Dutch BD here: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1234653/die-unendliche-geschichte-aka-the-neverending-story-comparison-pix

Thank you for this info, is the LFE the only thing wrong? if so this can be fixed, but as much as I really like HD audio if it sucks then it sucks, I will not use it, but as I said if the LFE is the only problem this is an easy fix.

Thanks again

I recently watched this, and it's another fantastic release by Team Blu!!!

Image quality is great and the de-interlace work is totally seamless (I believe it was from an interlaced source, right?).

The LaserDisc audio track really impressed me. I'm a huge fan of LD tracks, but this time I was a bit more skeptical because there was no digital sound LD for the movie. Not a problem here though, DJ's digital capture and sync of the anolog track is fantastic. It shows how good a properly done analog track can sound.

The only issue with the original mix (and not at all a TB's fault) is that sometimes there are dialog bleeds to the left channel. It sounds a little bit like an echoing effect.

The inclusion of the original HD stream audio is very nice as well!

I just sampled the 5.1 track because I really don't like remixes. So I won't post any thoughtful comments about it, but I know it should please enthusiasts.

The extra package is simple, but very nice.

Congratulations Team Blu, you guys nailed it again!!!

ps:Now I can't wait to watch TWB.

Thank you for the great review, hopefully more will follow soon because there are more copies out there, and just for the record, You_Too did the sync job on this one because of the hell I was going through on The White Buffalo, so a huge thanks to him for helping me out on this one.

I guess if anyone is interested I may as well start sharing the links now.

Thanks again BDgeek!

OK we now have everything we need to get The Neverending Story project going, we have these versions, US, Dutch, German and Japan, and a kind member has just PM'd me and is going to provide a bit accurate LD rip from the Japanese LD, so just as soon as we get done with our little vacation we will try and hammer this one out and maybe a couple others before You_Too and I start our very long trek down the ESB trail lol.

So does anyone know if there is 1 audio track better then the others for the TNS BD's? or are all the DTS-HD MA 5.1 tracks pretty much the same?

Thanks
