Classic Edition: Return of the Jedi by Ocpmovie (Released)
Time
"ocpmovie
The XO project is just another laser transfer, it doesn't compare to 2004 DVD quality. Nothing does, actually .... I've learned that the hard way, you can't match it on home equipment. Gotta just use what Lucas gave. "

That is why i like yours(ocpmovie) and ADM's edits,my thoughts exactly, the 2004 DVD's are in EXCELLENT quality, cant be matched by any LD player, or post processing and and encoding,we just dont and will not get ALL that fancy equipment and resources GL has.
just my thoughts

OK the "First Issue" is all capped and encoded,i will author these soon as Russ makes up the menu's,thats right Russ is throwing in some of his creativity, thanks Russ for the help, now i have the SW "Special Edition Widescreen" menu's done(thanks to, ALOT of help from my friend Boba Feta, thanks man!!) and ready to start capping them, cant wait to give my new Pioneer CLD-79 ELITE a shot at these.
so here is where i am at,if any one interested,i am also now encoding at more passes and a higher bitrate and dabbling with CCE.
Star Wars Standard Play Collection - FINISHED-
Star Wars 97 Special edition VHS Fullscreen -FINISHED-
Star Wars "First Issue" -FINISHED-

attempting to make my work better...........
Time
thank you very much Moth3r for replying, and yes it is NTSC DV from a canopus ADVC-110,i am trying to get the same kind of results Citizen is getting, now i know he is using PAL source but other than that we almost have the same equipment.
i think i might have finally figured out CCE,but not 100% sure,i have been running some tests, and to be honost, so far TMPGEnc Plus is giving me better looking results, now i know this has to be wrong, so i must still have some learning to do with CCE LOL.
thanks again Moth3r for your help and i hope you and your family have a safe and Merry Christmas

attempting to make my work better...........
Time
hi guys i have been getting ALOT of tips from our own Citizen(Thank you for all the help and fast replies),but lately my emails have been bounced back to me and i am stuck,so i am going to see if any one here can give me some help,so here goes:
i was told that NTSC DV has poor chroma compression,so i was told to use
the chroma smoother filter built-in to VirtualDub,now when i use this there are settings these are the settings:
VirtualDUB v1.6.11

Filter: Chroma Smoother

Source Color Space:
4:4:4 (Disable Chroma Smoothing)
4:2:0 (MPEG-1)
4:2:0 (MPEG-2, MPEG-4)
4:2:2 (MPEG-2)
4:1:0 (Indeo)
4:1:1 (NTSC DV)
which one do i use,the 4:1:1 NTSC DV or the 4:2:2 MPEG-2?
also when i use this it makes my output file HUGE is this right?

secondly i was told to use a GOOD DV codec, well i have what he recommended and installed it,but how do i make sure that is what is being used and not another?
and he explained very well why i should use the "composite" cable instead of the S-Video,so i have been using "Composite"
I am also going to try and learn CCE,i have 2.66,2.67 and the latest version.

The reason i am wanting to get my captures alot better is because, i just scored, a like NEW, in MINT condition, hardly used, Pioneer CLD-79 ELITE player
so please any help at all would be greatly appreciated
thanks
DJ

also this is the capture software i have been using:

Russ i have in MY possesion now the Star Wars Widescreen set,the corrected SW will be here in a day or 2,LD's are *MINT*,alos have the Japanese Special Collection, again in *MINT* condition, and an now an update on my progress:

Star Wars Standard Play Collection - FINISHED-
Star Wars 97 Special edition VHS Fullscreen -FINISHED-
Star Wars "First Issue" - Not here yet(LD's)
Star wars Special Widescreen Edition (including fixed and non-fixed SW) - SOON -

side note,i am tossing around doing the Japanese Special Collection again, and this time cropping out the Japanese sub-titles and centering the video, not sure though,i will need help with this project.

when all these are finished and burn tested Russ they will all be on the way to you, along with Conan The Barbarian/Destroyer VHS fullscreen transfers i have finished, not sure but i think ONLY widescreen is available on dvd officially.
and you my friend are going to get them whether you want them or not,i know where you live.
