Actually, I haven't tried this myself, but I was reading somewhere that one of the improvements of RE5 over RE4 was going to be that you could move and shoot at once. This obviously wasn't the case with the demo, maybe by default the controls are set to the traditional RE4 style. I have been meaning to check the demo to see if there was an option to change them, because I have heard from multiple places that this was suppose to be the case.

The file size difference may just have something to do with the different file systems of the two consoles.

Damn I will have to fire it back up again and see if there is any settings to change this,it sure would be cool to be able to maneuver and shoot or slash with your knife, and you are probably right about the file size differences.

yea it is definitely going to take time getting used to the controls, especially after playing and beating Dead Space,I am so used to being able to manuever and run while shooting, you can't do that in RE5,this is a pretty big let down, but I guess none of them would let you shoot and move,so I just have to get used to it again.

for me anyways it is hard to tell the difference in pic quality, they pretty much look identical,so I have no idea why the size difference.

so is the Elite DVD the same as the Limited Book of The Dead DVD,as far as the print is concerned?

But I do think the Limited Book of The Dead 2 looks totally friggin amazing! great Picture.

Picture wise, the Elite 1999 DVD has the sharpest & best quality picture of all the releases (including the treasures DVD). The later Anchor Bay DVD's have a different transfer. It's matted into 16:9 (top & bottom chopped off), its far more grainy than the elite version and the contrast is much too high resulting in some bright colours like red, looking blurred. You can really see this on the title text if you compare them.

Well, I was able to DL the 1.1 version from the newsgroup, and in a word..it's GREAT! The menus are awesome, and most of the goodies i've never seen before. Kudos to all involved for putting this together. Also thanks for getting it uploaded for all of us to enjoy. Keep up the great work!

Yes I absolutely agree with you, fantastic DVD,very well done,I only wish I could do menu's like that, very nice.

Cheers, I spent a good few months, and alot of hard work, collecting the material together and designing the DVD menus from scratch to make this DVD a really special release.

Yes M I did get it,I will check it out now and let you know what I think, but from the screens you provided showing the differences,is it suppose to look so blue?

Yes, thats the identical colour grading as the original laserdisc, If you check out :

http://www.horrordvds.com/vb3forum/showthread.php?t=31511

and you can see from that thread that the cold blue grading does add to the film.

Well you did 1 helluva job here, very nice,I am now on the hunt for the Elite DVD,I thought I had it with all the other ED stuff I have but unfortunately I do not,but will have it soon.

Thanks again for all your time and effort in this release.

Well, apparently the DVD transfers for both the Anchor Bay and the Elite releases were supervised by Raimi himself. So you could argue that the brighter, warmer picture is what the director intended.

However, many fans think that the darker, colder colour grading on this old laserdisc release makes the film scarier.

Have a look at this thread:

and how do these screens compare to the Limited Book of The Dead that Anchor Bay released?

I would like to get my hands on a copy of the Elite DVD,I think that looks pretty cool, lots of extras to.

and yes if Griff sends the DVD's to me I will put them up on Spleen,I think he is going to send them, very helpful guy he is.

Do you have the raw HD .ts files or just the DVD you are upping at CG?

I am planning on getting this DVD and IVTC'ing the video and making it anamorphic,I was hoping Doug could send me a copy I asked him about it at CG, but I have to get it by other means.

I would rather have the .ts file though, not the DVD,this would make a great HD2DVD project.

So is anyone here downloading the PS3 Resident Evil 5 Demo? I am about 10% away,I can't wait to compare this to the Xbox 360's version, then I can see for myself if there is any visual difference, plus see if there is any differences in the gameplay, mainly because it seems the 360's controller is a little more comfortable,at least for me.

Also curious why the size difference, the Xbox 360's demo was like 480 MB's and the PS3's is 942 MB's.

So far three discs have been completed - one disc for ED1, and two for ED2.  The second ED1 disc and the AOD one will be finished in the coming months, so watch this space!

Cool, but where are the ones that are done?

I would send you a PM but I have tried that in the past,no response.

well here's hoping Moth3r gets them.

Thanks M for the one you already posted.

No man, I think I see what you're getting at.  I mean I love fan edits as much as the next guy, but I've seen some pretty anal comments/suggestions/etc.  I mean, c'mon, cutting out some of Ox's crazy behavior when the man is...crazy?  Huh?  Tracking in musical set pieces from the first three films?  C'mon.   It gets crazy.  Absolutely make the Mutt swinging better.  Explore possibilities for Doom Town (even though I didn't have the major spleen busting reaction that some have).  Make things make more sense.  But it gets to a point where you go beyond just making the film better and it gets excessive or so off in its own way that it makes it pointless.

DAMN WELL put, damn well put,I could not agree with you more there musicman,I do edits every now and then to,and I read some of these posts on possible changes and alterings and cuts, and I just cannot believe the arrogance, and Holier than though attitudes I see, damn if these guy's think they are that damn good, why are they NOT making there own movies and making a lot of $,then people on the internet can critique there works and edit to thier satisfaction.
