That looks very nice Ady,can you please tell me how you did that split screen comparison, this could come in very handy for me in my projects.

Thanks

I will look into that,if I PM you the script I am using for the upconvert do you have time to take a gander at it?

Looks like the upscaling script you are using assumes NTSC, so when you apply it to your PAL video, the aspect is going to be wrong. I can help, but I need to know if this is what you really want, or if my thinking is off.

-G

Ofcourse I would LOVE your help,I really honostly think there is potential for a very nice AVCHD release,I just keep hitting snags and I have SO many damn test scripts all over both drives I forget where I am at,but now that the DVD's are finished I can start deleting some of those other scripts.

and not sure what you mean by this "apply it to your PAL video" is that directed to me? if so I am not using PAL video,I am NTSC only.

don't you think this has a pretty good chance of making a nice AVCHD project?plus this will give me the opportunity to use satanika's DTS 5.1 audio track.

OK here is an update on the DVD's of all 3 films, they are done,I am frackin with them NO more, here are the specs for the 3:

Star Wars - 16:9 anamorphic video,English subtitles(from GOUT),93 LD audio DD 2.0 @ 384 (track 1),93 LD audio DD 5.1 upmix @ 448 (track 2),77 mono Mix Dolby 1.0 @ 96 (track 3)

Empire Strikes Back - 16:9 anamorphic video,English subtitles(from GOUT),93 LD audio DD 2.0 @ 384 (track 1),93 LD audio DD 5.1 upmix @ 448 (track 2)

Return Of The Jedi - 16:9 anamorphic video,English subtitles(from GOUT),93 LD audio DD 2.0 @ 384 (track 1),93 LD audio DD 5.1 upmix @ 448 (track 2)

*access the audio options and subtitles from the button on your DVD player remote.

Here is what they weigh in at:

Star Wars 6.43 GB's
Empire Strikes Back 6.57 GB's
Return Of The Jedi 6.90 GB's

and all were CCE SP 6 pass encoded at an avg of 6500.

anything else you want to know, just ask away.

Now if I only had Verbatim DL DVDr's to burn test them before I do anything else with them.

Do Video Games Sometimes have better stories than films ?
Time

Damn for once I actually agree with you on this one, there a few games that just have kick ass stories, and long and very interesting ones at that.

but I must admit,I am impressed you put KOTOR in there, you know that is SW related, but Mass Effect is just totally awesome, and as far as other games with an impressive story, well I can think of some older PC games, like these:

Ultima VII The Balck Gate w\ Serpent Isle addon
Ultima VIII Pagan
Ultima IX Ascension
Ultima Underworld The Stygian Abyss
Ultima Underworld Labyrinth of Worlds
and last but not least Diablo & Diablo II and I am pretty sure Diablo III

all these games gave me hours and hours of PURE fun!

And the point g-force is making is that the GOUT stabilization script already includes upsizing as part of the EEDI2 anti-aliasing stage - the results are then downsized to 16:9 DVD resolution. If you want 1080p output it would make more sense to remove this downsizing stage and amend the Spline16Resize lines to produce your final desired output resolution.

Well stated. Thanks for your calm, rational explanations Moth3r.

and that is all well and good, but I am no expert in avisynth scripting, this is all still new to me to,so an example would be a lot nicer than everyone saying the same thing, everytime I alter the script I get fucked up results.

about to just step away from this for a few days.

Does anyone have any idea what this frackin error message is that muxman keeps spitting out on me for ANH?

Probably due to a bitrate spike. It's different from the error you get when the bitrate stays high for a sustained period. Does Muxman actually complete the muxing? If so, I wouldn't worry about it, it will likely still play OK on modern players.

That is exactly what it is,a darn spike, and no muxman won't finish,I tried re-encoding it and hoping that the spike would not happen again and it frackin did, shit! and according to the log it happens at chapter 34.

So darn strange, and this is the shortest movie of the bunch, well I guess I could re-encode this one at 6000 avg instead of the 6500 like the other 2.

I know, not another sample clip, but this 1 has DTS 5.1 sound, and is a little bit longer then the other's(175 MB)

http://www.sendspace.com/file/nr51tu

This is ready to be burned and tested on your Blu-ray player or PS3,I have tested on both.

until I figure out how and what to change on g-force's script this is still the way I did the other samples above, and this really needs to be tested on your HDTV,at least for me,when I look at these files on my PC or even look at screenshots,it does not do them justice,it looks a lot better in motion and on my HDTV(again this is my opinion I am sure others might disagree).

I just had to weigh in.

DJ, these screen shots look like oil paintings with halos everywhere. Why not just change the final resize in my script to whatever you want, instead of running it through additional filters that preserve very little detail, and oversharpen everything and then oversharpen everything again?!

Not my cup of tea.

OK Guy's,

The French and Spanish audio are bye bye,and so is the Lego shit,it is an old game anyways LOL.

You know what after frackin around with this shit for over 2 days now, screw it,I am going to do what I usually do,NO FRACKIN MENU,because if I use Moth3r's clean elements for ANH,that does not help me for ESB and ROTJ,and this way I can get it out sooner and have multiple audio tracks, selectable with the DVD remote.

So I hope this does not piss anyone off,but hey look at it this way,you can add your own shit to it,plus then I can get to work on the AVCHD versions with the DTS 5.1 track, then finally back to my Japanese Special Collection Take 2.

I am putting to many things on my plate all at once, surely don't want this to feel like a job, then it is no fun anymore.

the 5.1 upmix sounds great(at least to me anyways) and really looking forward to hearing the DTS 5.1 upmix on my AVCHD project, which I will encode tonight.

I to really don't care a whole lot about menu's either,to me they are a pain in the ass.

but whatever I do with the Standard DVD GOUT video I want to do soon to get these finished, because I want the AVCHD's done by next Monday.

Here is 1 more video sample at 64 MB's,just burn it to a rewritable DVDr and play in your Blu-ray player or PS3.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/sdmb01

Funny thing with this sample,I did this clip like 4 times,I could NOT figure out why I kept losing the damn subs,DUH! I was cropping them off to upconvert the video LOL so I had to put them back on and put them in the right position and resize them.

retail DVD menu re-authoring?
Time

I am worjking on the Star Wars GOUT Trilogy,I am going to strip some of the unwanted stuff on the retail DVD and replace with wanted stuff, how would I go about doing this,a simple how to on something simple would be great, because when I do it once, all should be good to go from then.

Here is an example of what I am looking to do,
OK if I add the DD 5.1 track I need to strip some of this stuff, first I need to remove the "Special Features" button from the main menu:

Then I need to remove the French and Spanish audi options form this menu and replace with DD 5.1 option, but I would have to get that font or one very close to it:

maybe I might take off the THX optimizer to.

So any pointers and guides on how to do this would be great.
