I also hope you're using the wonderful 1997 optical capture off the Special Edition laserdisc for the audio. :)

I do not have that audio,if I did I would use it,I have the LD's but if I cap it it won't be using optical and it will be 2.0.

also I am not doing anything with it right now,I have no way to test the files I am making,DVD-BOY probably should take up the project and we help him,I am making files I can't even use,so it is probably silly for me to lead this project.

I must admit though,I sure wouldn't mind getting the Pioneer BDR-203,maybe for Christmas.

plus I wanted to test out Cinevision and it won't even play or encode my avi file, funny this software can't when everything else can.

Thanks DVD-BOY but currently I am at a stand still,I have no way to test what I have done,it plays on my PC with PowerDVD but that won't tell me if standalone players will play it,I have a movie only version finished right now with the DD 5.1 & 2.0 audio as well as commentary.

The problem is I can't start deleting files I no longer need(to make room for the next movie)until all is good,so that is where I am at now.

Yes DVD-BOY now I know what you mean, that would be great if you could copy your notes for me on this placement,it sure would save time, and have it broken down by episode #,thanks for doing this,ESB will be next up for me(yea NO subs LOL) and I to will use the English DD 5.1 on the German version, might as well add the German DD 5.1 and the English DD 2.0 commentary as well.

What order are you doing the films in DJ?

If it's of any help I can send you rough timings for where the subtitles appear in the other films as I go through them myself.

What do you mean timings? I am masking them with AE.

and the order I think I am going to do them in is,ep 4-6,then ep 1-3.

So what audio are we using?

The music in the surround channels throughout ANH is reversed, and the Death Star attack has one music cue that's dialed down so low it's basically inaudible.  Plus the dialogue audio levels are all over the place throughout the film.  Simply put, the 2004 audio is a mess.

One of these days, I'd like to go through it and fix all the problems while preserving the legitimate "deliberate creative decisions" (the altered Krayt dragon call, Threepio's "We've stopped!", the stormtrooper's "There's no one here!", the static in the THX 1138 scene, etc.) unique to the 2004 version.  But then I remember how little I care about the 2004 SE, and how much I hate most of the changes I'd be preserving ...

Damn to bad you didn't fix it,but reversing the left and right surround is not difficult at all,but the rest of it is tricky,so should I use the 5.1 English file from the German version or rip it from the DVD?

OK I am making some headway now,I have the English crawl edited onto the German version(Thanks Ady for the cut points)and I used AE mask tools to put the English Greedo subs on the German version(Thanks again Ady and DVD-BOY)as well,so my avisynth script is ready to make a final lossless avi before encode,so are we going to leave this video untouched?

because if we are going to do anything with the video, color, brightness, etc. let me know what we should do,Star Wars didn't have any color issues did it?I thought it was only ESB and ROTJ.

speak up

Yes it is a big time noticeable difference,I want to use the German version as much as possible.

and thanks for the mask tip but you are telling this to someone who has never used AE,so a tiny sample tut would be extremely helpful right now, because I am SURE once I do this a first time,I will be good to go,I should have done ESB first LOL,no subs.

@ Adywan,

I hope you are following this thread,I sent you a PM yesterday but you probably did not see it,I have edited in the English crawl into the German version, the first edit point is very easy,I just started it right before "A long time ago......."where the screen is solid black, but the second edit point is going to be tricky, where did you do your second cut?

The reason I ask is because the stars on the German version are so much bigger and brighter,i really sticks out,I tried right after the crawl disappears, then right when the camera pans down and I do not like either of them spots,to noticeable,so where did you edit it to keep it flowing better?

Thanks

Well DVD-BOY you have a lot more in store for your Blu-ray versions than I do,you are talking shit way over my head,I can author DVD's,I have never authored Blu-ray before(this will be a learning experience for me),so all this talk of pop up menu's,extra pic track, that is not going to happen on mine.

So maybe you should take over and we will help you.
