Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray (a joint venture project)
Time

Well I myself cannot burn Blu-ray's,I do not have a burner,so I am hopeful that once done someone here can burn these up for me,and when we are close to completion, and have final specs and such, someone can whip up case and disc art,I know Wideload can burn but it is to expensive to get Blu-rays from there(he is overseas),is there anyone here in the us that can burn these babies for me when done?

I know this place is "original trilogy", but how about leaving this version be.  Color correction will add picture noise unless you up the rate like WG did.  And to even do CC the way it should you need a professional setup, not just whole scene altering.  2 BD50s is a neat idea, but I'm for upping the bitrate of each slightly so they'll each fill a BD25.  This way there's piece of mind in them being as good as the originals.  No need for changes, menus, extra audio, just a nice simply showcase of them with the best picture quality.

I am open at this point to ALL idea's,so keep them coming.

How about making the films as close to the originals as possible?. I dont mean trimming every bit of the special editions away but all the pointless stuff like the extra snow creature scenes , Vaders return to his star destroyer , the pointless camera paning around the sand dunes in ROTJ . Is it possible to have the original   ending of Return Of The Jedi ?. Also insert the original Boba Fett's voice and "bring my shuttle " line back. Could something like this be done? .

I have no interest in turning this into a full blown major editing project,Adywans Revisited series is for that, but I would not mind doing some simple color correcting, and maybe some easy edits(maybe)I personally like all the SE versions as well as the Original versions,I am NOT a hater on all the changes like most are here.

I am a Star Wars fan of old and new.

I am truly sorry Russ, but after reading everything I have read here over the past couple days,I have lost ALL interest in doing this now,so like I said, good luck to the other guys.

I have already deleted EVERYTHING related to this effort off my PC and disconnected the LD player and put it back in it room.

I am starting a new thread on this to get our talks out of Wookie Groomers thread, the goal of this thread is to make fully playable(hopefully 100% error free)BD25 Blu-ray versions of all 6 films,I have all the 1080p HD versions(English and German broadcasts),some Blu-ray authoring programs(but have not used it to much yet)so let the talks continue here, and hopefully we can get even more help.

Where I am at right now,I have lossless avi files of both the German and English versions on my PC now,so need to edit the English crawl into the German version, then figure out the subs.

So lets open this up and work this out and give ourselves some nice Blu-ray versions until an official release,in my opinion will happen eventually.

This is now canceled,NO point(in my opinion)in having so many versions of the same set,so just follow Arnie.d's V8 and now X9 and Aleksbmw new super duper sets, but truth be told, this is great relief for me,these LD's are just to much work, after messin with SW all this time I now realize how much this set really SUX!

So good luck to those guys.

Since the X0 project never got a release I kept searching for better equipment to do my own transfer. I think this is were it ends since I probably won't get access to a better player. Grinder arranged the capture of the Japanese Special Collection on a Pioneer HLD-X9. The JSC is far from perfect but it's my favorite set (for different reasons). G-Force wrote a script to clean up the captures.

I hope to finish Star Wars in the next few weeks. The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi Will follow after that.

With Dark Jedi working on the JSC and Laserdisc Revived coming up I'm not sure how "necessary" this tranferis really is...

Well if g-force is working on this with you,and working on my set with me,it seems kind of silly,so by all means you guys go for it then,I will officially bow down to your guys' expertise.

looking forward to your finished deal.

After looking at all these frames and stuff with this Laserdisc set I have come to this conclusion, this set really sux,you can see some weird smear marks between some scenes like where they glued it together, and the frame like I showed above, among other stuff I have seen, but WE will make it the best we can.

Dark Jedi, forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but what kind of powerhouse machine do you have to be able to do encodes so quickly?  Or did you only apply it to the clip in question?

I use the trim setting to test a particular area before doing the whole thing, but to do the whole movie it takes me about 18-20 hours(lossless avi)then about 2 hours after that to encode a 6 pass CCE SP @ 6500.

I have an INTEL Quad Core @ 3.0 GHZ,8 GB's RAM(I know WinXP Pro only see's 4 but 4 more are there LOL),Dual Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ Video cards running in SLI mode,Dual 500 GB hard drives, and now an external 1 TB hard drive.

Much better,it is gone.

But I am not going to make another lossless avi file from the new script until you know for sure it is "Final" LOL.

I just got an external WD 1 TB hard drive so I have plenty of room to store the lossless avi's from the "Take 2" JSC set and the "Take 2" 97 SE set along with the v4 GOUT script and whenever there is a final to this one.

Thanks G
