Max_Rebo's '97 SE superset' preservation (* unfinished project *)
Time

I have been googling, reading OT threads, and browsing the web and I think I have this right now, is this correct?

We have these versions for each film,

97 SE ANH - GKar,TB, REIVAX, Flunk.

97 SE ESB - GKar, TB.

97 SE ROTJ - GKar, TB.

(to my knowledge all the HD rips are 2004, not 97)

well I have FINALLY got my DVDr's to rip, some of them I actually grabbed with my Blu-ray burner, but all that matters is I have the GKar, TB, and REIVAX ANH all on my hard drive now, before deleting I will definitely burn to Tayo Yudens!

I have PM'd several members here in hopes to get a hold of the ANH Flunk version, someone here HAS to still have it(I hope).

Now I have to figure out where the hell I put the LD DD 5.1 rips.

OK while taking a break on the v3's, I have started hunting down all my copies of the '97 SE broadcast versions, and damnit almost all of my discs are unreadable now, so if anyone has any of these broadcast DVD's still and are still in good working order LOL, please PM me, I have already PM'd some people here to start acquiring these babies again.

looking for the Flunk, GKar, REIVAX, TB of all 3 movies if anyone has them, I already have the LD 5.1 mixes, although I think reivax is SW only.

Thanks

* OK I do not need REIVAX ANH, got that from Spleen a while back.

Russs15 where are you buddy?

STAR WARS: the alt.binaries.starwars thread
Time

It would be nice if someone could re-up all the '97 SE broadcasts, I had them all but it seems the DVD's I have had gone bad, now none of my drives can read them, I keep trying, I would love to make a NTSC version of the '97 and sync the DD 5.1 to them from the LD's.

So if anyone has the other broadcasts and would like to share please PM me.

and as far as subs go, I will just add them back in with the right font.

If you have wavelab then it can measure rms for you I think, but it's probably faster to just try a few different values for dialnorm like e.g. 23 and 19 etc.
Or you could use whatever software that supports replaygain to compare the soundtracks..

..

I don't/didn't know that dts neural upmix proggie, but I'm not opposed to trying new upmixing methods if anyone feels it's warranted, are there people interested in doing a new listening test?

Is the new listening test for the new ESB DD 5.1 that hairy_hen is doing?

All files downloaded from newsgroups - OK
Enough PARs for the file - OK
Image extracted - OK

Brief glance on TotalMedia Theater all works fine, as far as menu navigation, by the way, Love the main menu, very nice.

Hopefully Monday or Tuesday the latest, I will have my BD50's to test it out on the "Fat" and "Slim" models of the PS3 and my Sony BDP-S350, so far it looks very promising.

Thanks Wookiegroomer, and also Thanks for going into detail on it's creation, I really appreciate that very much.

I will keep you posted.

I had it set to -27 already when testing, the '85 Stereo Remix is just louder\fuller for the lack of a better term then the rest of the mixes, especially in the dialogue, should I just drop it a little more or just leave it? but I am guessing with the way it is now, when jumping from audio to audio, you will definitely notice this baby.

also all my searches are coming up with nothing, what should I google to be able to compare?

Tech question for you h_h, how can you make all the different PCM files have the same audio level? because some are very low and you have to crank up your receiver to hear them, while others, like the '85 Stereo remix is just blasting away, I want to make these so it is not so jarring when jumping from audio to audio.

Thanks

Re: upmixing... Really, it is a pretty complicated/technical discussion.. I am no expert by any means. Interested parties can research for themselves matrix/active matrix; dpl, dplii etc. ..

In the end what I did was try various programs/techniques and gave samples for people to check out & decided on the atsurround active matrix decoding.

It should be similar to official dplii decoding. Similar/different for better or worse? Your mileage may vary... But likely minute in any case..

satanika what do you think of this software?

Then on to SW's Remix.

What remains to be done to the Star Wars mixes? I thought those were completed already.

(Not trying to sound impatient. I'm just eager to get these puppies!)

I am ripping all the '85 remixes as well and sync'ing to the GOUT video, I am putting together a master raw PCM set of all stereo mixes, I am getting this from the JSC set I have, then it is off to Jedi, but it is getting easier now with all the experience I am getting now, not as frustrating anymore, Adywan was right, Vegas is very COOL once you get used to it.

Not sure if the remixes will be on the DVD's or not but they might.
