ah man, i need to pre-order my disc!

i was gonna get the steelbook from best buy to match the rest of my new movies, but they are only shipping the 4K disc, the 1080p you need to pickup in store, and none of the local stores have it? what the heck! must be pushing that 4K disc pretty hard. Maybe i’ll shell out the extra bucks so that i can have it delivered 😄

I ordered the blu-ray version for home delivery, but I did it back in December. I might cancel and upgrade to future proof, but I shot my Star Wars budget on Figuarts Last Jedi Luke and Figuarts Chewbacca.

So I only have my lazy self to blame huh… That’s not surprising.

A friend of mine told me his older brother not only wanted to get in touch with me, but that he was excited to do so. He still hasn’t, though. Am I being paranoid or cynical if I say that I’m starting to think he didn’t actually care to talk to me?

Just normal paranoia.

Either that dude is being a tool, or his brother is busy. I think that if you acknowledge the possibility of both truths, but hope for the best, then maybe you won’t feel hurt no matter the outcome. Lame advice, but find a way to protect your heart, but don’t be callous.

Well, that’s it. Mueller can go home now. There’s no basis to any of it. Cue the pardons!

I have to subscribe to read the full article? Fuck off, WSJ.

WSJ? Who is that? btw, I could not read the whole article, it said something about have to sign in or sign up and I am not going to do that.

William Shannon Johnson, one of the guys implicated in the Trump/Russia scandal.

No, White Santa Jesus is more likely.

Well the left leaning bias is on full display here. I have no doubt if a major Republican politician claimed to be part Native American and didn’t look anything like a Native American, people in here would be saying take a DNA test or fess up.

I don’t know if people in here would be saying that but I’m pretty sure there would be plenty of mocking.

On the topic of bias and arguments, this article on “progressive hostility” looks compelling. I’ve only read a little of it but I’ve heard similar complaints from people I know.

When I disagree with a conservative friend or colleague on some political issue, I have no fear of speaking my mind. I talk, they listen, they respond, I talk some more, and at the end of it we get along just as we always have. But I’ve discovered that when a progressive friend says something with which I disagree or that I know to be incorrect, I’m hesitant to point it out.

truth.

Ah yes, only Conservatives are rational. Yay.

that is not what I said.

You quoted an article that said that, and proclaimed it “truth.”

I quoted part of the article and proclaimed it “truth”.

The part I quoted does not say that only Conservatives are rational.

Let’s look back:

When I disagree with a conservative friend or colleague on some political issue, I have no fear of speaking my mind. I talk, they listen, they respond, I talk some more, and at the end of it we get along just as we always have.

In short, Conservatives are rational.

But I’ve discovered that when a progressive friend says something with which I disagree or that I know to be incorrect, I’m hesitant to point it out.

Or; I won’t argue with progressives because I fear they are not rational.

interesting interpretation.

Seems like the only interpretation to me. How did you interpret it?

That some Liberals take disagreement more personally. That some Liberals are more offended by disagreement.

Yeah, whole bunch of snowflakes, amirite or amirite?

oh ffs.

Isn’t that basically what you said?

no.

Tell me how.

taking disagreement more personally and/or being more offended by disagreement does not = being a snowflake. At least not in my book.

In your book, what does being a snowflake mean?

I assumed by snowflake you meant someone who was wimpy and/or cowardly and/or weak and/or something like that, and that is not what I meant by any of my comments.

Alright. The prosecution rests.

For now.

Why do you see yourself as some sort of Prosecutor and me as some sort of Defendant?

Would you have preferred me to be part of the defense?

Why does there need be any defense, why does there need to be any sort of a trial?

A strong and fair court system is a prerequisite to a functioning democracy, like this web forum.

yeah right

You didn’t vote in last year’s moderator election? I certainly did. It was open to all members with an account age of over one year. And you can take any dispute to the forum courts. I’m actually running for judge there in one of the regional circuits.

I look forward to the next election, when I will qualify to vote.

She claims to be partly Native American, it is not unreasonable to request that she proves it.

lets change our perspective here: is it reasonable to require someone to take a genetic test? NO

When the person in question is a major politician and claims to be a part of minority race that she looks nothing like? Yes.

Btw, I am not talking forcing her by law or court order or some such.

just the court of public opinion then?

i mean, this doens’t really matter in the slightest. I am fairly confident that Elizabeth Warren did not kowningly lie about her herritage, but if she did, we can’t know that from a test. I mean, her family history that tells her that she is part cherokee could be simply mistaken. So why should she take a test? there is no upside to that.
