If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place

Took my apple pie out of the oven a bit ago and decided it needed to go back in for just a bit. Took it out just now and cooked the filling down too far.

So instead of having some toothier Granny Smith slices to contrast with the mushier Macintosh slices, it’s all more of a cooked-down mush than I wanted it to be. And the top crust of course molded to the height it was when I first took it out of the oven and now the pie is lying about how much filling is in it now.

I’m so incredibly disappointed in myself right now. Nobody else will care but god damn it.

I feel your pain. The bitter taste of missing out on what could have been. Better luck next time!

Ranking the Star Wars films
Time

1 ANH
2 ESB
3
4 TFA
5 R1
6 ROTJ

I am leaving the three spot open. perhaps someday something will fit in there.

4/5/6 are all very close, there are aspects of ROTJ that make me want to rank it higher, but if i go purely by my enjoyment factor, I think this is the order.

1 i can’t ever change. i won’t ever bump the movie that started this all out of first place, i just can’t do that.

Smart TV technical advice
Time

well, a big ole TV is a horrible WiFi barrier, so there’s that.

Sorry i don’t have any advice on your original question, but in my opinion, pick up an older model streaming device (don’t get a 4K one, get a 1080p max one) and you will probably solve all your problems.

I recently got the Roku 2 Streaming Media Player (4210R) with Faster Processor (2015 Model) back when it was under 60 bucks, looks like they are price gouging right now… seems to play anything just fine.

Can you monitor the bandwidth being used from your router? just a thought. perhaps the Vudu stream really is that much larger and is maxing out your internet, and not actually a processor speed issue?

Here’s RLM’s review of Rogue One…oh boy…

whatever acclaim those guys at RLM might have gotten with their tearing apart of the Prequels, they have spent, and then some. Being snarky and critical can only get you so far in life. Not really sure why their opinions matter any more. In fact, did they ever matter? I think its more a case of they said things about the prequels that everyone already agreed with. They are not influencers, they are followers.

I thought Vader was fine, apart from the fact that he wasn’t able to get aboard the Tantive IV. he was able to do that in the OT…

I think it’s important to note that Vader also doesn’t care about the Death Star as has been established in Star Wars and was re-established in Rogue One. Maybe it was less that he couldn’t get to the Rebel and more that he wasn’t too bothered about it.

I think Dahmage believes there’s a continuity error between the two films.

I’d recommend he rewatch the opening of Star Wars.

lame joke was subtle

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)

I have a question for you guys about the artwork. I really love the artwork pack, but I was wondering if there is a modified version available that would suit my needs. I’m giving a copy of each of the three 25GB Film only versions to my brother for Christmas, but the added special features disk would be a waste on him, as I know he wont watch them. I just noticed that the artwork has the Special Features listed on the back cover, and since I am not including those features in this set, I was wondering if there is a version that doesn’t list them.

I know it’s an odd request, so don’t worry about it if it’s a hassel to find. I’ll figure something out, but I do love the artwork you guys have presented, so it would be ideal.

Thanks!

I think an image editor is your best bet. paint over the text you don’t like. put your own face over it. do something easy.

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)

I foresee a possible 50GB BD disc for each DE 3.0 film with all the audio tracks and commentaries (1 disc per film), paired with a complementary 50GB BD disc for all the special features for each film (1 disc per film), resulting in 6 discs. At least, theoretically. I haven’t done all the math involving current items and size yet, but this is a start.

yes, once 3.0 is released (far off), someone would need to start a new set from scratch, as the filesize of the 1080p release will throw everything off. I agree with the first disk just the main feature approach at that point.

It won’t be updated by NJVC unless he decides to come back:

Just a heads up that I will be removing the edits from MEGA in the coming days. If you are yet to download the set and would like to do so, feel free to PM me (asap), otherwise they will still be available via myspleen.

Thanks to everyone here who chipped in on these forums for your encouragement and assistance in getting these blurays finished. It was a pleasure working on them and sharing them with you all. Hopefully those that downloaded them have enjoyed what they’ve seen.

I’ve decided to retire from fan-editing to work on other things, so if anyone would like to adapt these blurays for future releases of the Despecialized editions, please feel free to do so with my blessing. But the simplest method would be to swap out the new video (when Harmy releases it) with the outdated version using multiAVCHD.

Thanks again, and best wishes,

njvc

But i think once that is released, there will be those who will attempt to update the disk by remuxing in the new streams. the only real issue i foresee is that possibly we will exceed the original disk size.
