What you are talking about is called dramatic irony. It occurs when there is so much meaning and revelation in the story, that you can enjoy and take pleasure in watching it over and over again throughout the years even though you already know what will happen in the plot.

Just for your own edification, this is not what dramatic irony means. Dramatic irony occurs when the audience is privy to information that a character is not, which in turn creates suspense or humour depending on the genre of the story in question.

I don’t get why they even took a Star Destroyer design and morphed it into a TIE fighter at all. Those are two completely separate ships that have nothing to do with each other; it’s like turning in aircraft carrier into a jet…which only works if you’re Marvel 😉

I’m fine with the new U-wing (kind of reminds me of Buck Rogers’ Thunderfighter)…

…but, given how close this is set to ANH, I wish they’d simply stick with existing ship designs.

When you were introduced to Star Wars for the first time
Time

I can’t remember when I saw Star Wars for the first time… I’ve just known it and loved it all my life (I was born in '77). My earliest memory is of my dad recording Star Wars for me off of First Choice Super Channel (now The Movie Network), when it aired on TV for the first time in February of '83. I would have been 5 at the time, but already knew Star Wars well enough that I was over the moon at the prospect of actually owning a copy of the movie (I guess my parents must have rented it from the video store pretty regularly until then). I actually still have a copy of that VHS cassette.

As for ESB, I don’t think I actually saw the movie at the theatre, but I remember my dad and uncle coming back from the movie and debating whether or not Vader was really Luke’s father.

But I do distinctly remember seeing ROTJ in the theatre while on vacation in '83… good times.
