What’s the source of the 5.1 audio for ESB? Is this a reconstruction like HairyHen did for SW or something else?

Pretty much. It’s the audio from the 93 laserdiscs (and a bass channel from the blurays) with all the necessary tweeks (levels, fixing a few missing sound effects, etc)

But keep in mind that the 70mm version, which would have contained the surround sound mix, is different in content so this is not a reconstruction so to speak. It’s more of a “what if the content of the 35mm stereo version was in surround sound?”

What are the chances of ever recovering a 70mm print with that surround track?

Given that I'm planning for all the bonus material to be on a separate disc, j am actually considering dropping the branching and seeing how well everything can fit as their own separate thing. I am happy to report that my computer is finally up and running again, so there should be much more coming out of the woodwork for this soon

That'll work fine for doing the two SW crawls. If you want to include all three SEs on another disc, you'll want to figure out branching between 04/11 and then have a separate 97 (I would use Team Blu's for ANH).

I can't remember if he said he was using Harmy for the OT but if that's the case, then the Respecialized might be of better use than just Team Blu. Just spitballing here.

TPM 1080p Theatrical Preservation (a WIP)

Wow. I just noticed your preview clip on the front page and those upscaled shots of the Watto et al. in the stands in the 31 second clip are phenomenal. You should be very proud of yourself, Valeyard. That is seamless viewing between the two sources right there. Good work.

EDIT: Also I just noticed after writing this post that you've got a small typo or two in one paragraph.

"The release will be a 1080p x246 MKV file, encoded to conform with BD comparability."

Info: Dragon Ball Z, and the Dragon Ball series in general...
Time

I'll give my left arm for the Speedy DB movie VCDs. I already have ISOs of the 9 DBZ movies from from a certain DVD club and I've got almost all of the VCDs of the 13 Z movies. Those are a real pain to sync up to the Japanese Dragon Box movies in my experience, although I was only syncing audio to audio and not by looking at it frame-by-frame.

I don't think it's as big a disaster as TPM and the OT (haven't watched the blu-ray all the way through). But it's a bit blue, right? I believe the HDTV/DVD version had good color.

I'd like to see a comparison of the HDTV, Blu-ray, and kk650's regrade to kind of see where it is.

Also, we don't really have a central framecount for the theatrical version like the '97 SE does, so that puts us in a pickle.

No.

We need another source, such as 35mm scans, of at least two parts as far as I'm aware:

The speeder shot where Obiwan catches the lightsaber (to reinstate deleted speeders)

Anakin's mechahand not doing anything before the pan up during his wedding.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm guessing we don't have any 35mm prints lying around here either yet.

I believe a potential sale was mentioned of the prequels on AmpsDeux. I may be misremembering, but Team Negative might also have access to a print for scanning down the road when their schedule is freed.

Though, unless I'm mistaken, it's really only those two quick shots we need to get a hold of.

Yeah I think you're right. Thankfully it's only those two visual changes that need scanning. I don't suppose the film needs any major color regrading, does it?
