The longest post without punctuation
Time

why are we even arguing about this herekittykittyx you clearly are the best worst at punctuation im leaving out the punctuation but the thread doesnt say to have grammar so at least theres that i dont think i could stomach using your for youre or there for their because when people do that it really genuinely bothers me and people are doing it more and more these days i hope they dont become interchangeable since sometimes words do that when enough people misspell a word commonly enough i dont think this thread is mocking you herekittykittyx it seems more like a joke sometimes we have joke threads here especially in off topic like when there were umpteen last movie threads or whatever that was annoying and im glad it stopped because the whole first page was filled with nonsense threads you really do need to improve your language skills though because not knowing when to use capitalization or punctuation wont do you any favors for example you would have an extremely difficult time in an office environment and often online even in a place like this or especially in a place like this having bad punctuation severely decreases the perceived validity of your argument because people assume since you dont know well enough to punctuate and capitalize properly that youre also more likely to have no idea what youre talking about so really please you need to work on it thank you and good night

The words “am” and “I” are switched wrong in the thread title.
And the word “member” is capitalized for no reason.
And there’s no punctuation at the end.
These things bother me.

The reason why am i are flipped is because i am asking a question.

He knows that. It’s his way of saying “yes.”

Not to mention the amount of time it would take to move that amount of matter (from the star to SKB), given that our own sun has about 333,000 as much mass as Earth does. I’m not saying SKB is as big as Earth, but that a star has such an incomprehensibly large amount of mass that it would take forever to move it all 8 light-minutes away even at relativistic speeds.

If we’re still picking apart the physics of Star Wars, why has no one pointed out just how long it would take for matter from a star to reach a habitable planet (ie. Starkiller Base) that’s as far from it as we are from the Sun (we are 8.3 light minutes away)? Matter is not going to traverse the distance at the speed of light, and the appearance of the stream suggests it does not enter hyperspace.

To repost something from the “What are you reading?” thread:

I recently finished listening to the first 3.5 (three novels and a novella) of the Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson. I noticed somewhere that its genre was listed as “space opera”, which supposedly also includes Star Wars. But here’s the thing: The Star Wars films are space opera; the books are not. The last two Star Wars books I’ve tried to read, Darth Plagueis and Battlefront: Twilight Company, are sci-fi drivel with boring plots and uninteresting characters. It’s starting to sour my interest in Star Wars books. I just hope The Last Jedi novelization is good because I’ve already preordered it.

Yeah, as much as everyone loves the Thrawn Trilogy, those were military sci-fi, not space opera. You can thank Zahn for Star Wars books since then continuing this trend.

Turns out I probably wouldn’t have liked an EU-esque Star Wars film, because the EU books employ almost an entirely different genre than the films do.

tere are good explanations for most of them anyway.

There are explanations now that we’ve had ages to ponder them. Conversely, the novelization for TLJ isn’t even out yet.

The TFA novel straight up explains how the Starkiller beam could destroy a planet on the other side of the galaxy from where the base itself is located. It just depends on it you want to accept that explanation.

That is to say, you like the movie or you don’t, and that’s your choice. But holding ST and OT up to different yard sticks isn’t exactly fair.

@SilverWook

It was not my intent to poke holes in the OT. I’m only saying their argument against the bombers not making sense is invalid if they don’t complain about the OT not making sense.

That’s all I’m saying. I’m perfectly willing to accept explanations for these things, but if people are complaining because it should make sense on its face, then explaining it here wouldn’t really make a difference anyway.

Looks like you’re trying to convince yourself. 😉

I’m saying that I enjoy the OT, and can overlook those problems or accept explanations for them. If someone enjoys the OT but is saying TLJ sucks in part because the bombers’ physics don’t per se make sense, they obviously aren’t using the same measuring stick for both trilogies.

If they’re going to complain that bombers in space don’t work that way, they should have to also complain that ramming a Super Stardestroyer into the Death Star wouldn’t create a vertically burning fire.
