A thing on timelines here: The two main storylines in TLJ start at different times. The escape storyline starts a week after the events of TFA; the Ach-To storyline happens immediately after the events of TFA.

The bomber: People complained about how the bomber thing was unrealistic because there’s no gravity in space. That pedantry is inaccurate. The bombs fell due to the gravitational force of the Star Destroyer underneath the bomber. This is the same reason that Star Destroyer falls into the Death Star in ROTJ.

I read in the visual dictionary that the bombs used magnetic tech as well.

Yes, and that is unnecessary. The artificial gravity within the bomber is enough to give the bombs an initial velocity once they are released to propel them towards the target, as Mrebo already pointed it out.

Also, this obviates the need to talk about the gravity of the ship, which cannot be that significant. I wonder if someone at LFL actually saw a plothole here and came up with magnets or if they were just a cool add-on.

Look, there are plenty of plotholes and mistakes in the OT too if you don’t add EU/Wookieepedia explanations. Contrivances or not, whether it matters to you that it doesn’t make sense on its face comes down to your own choice of whether to just sit back and enjoy it.

For example:

In ANH, when the Blockade Runner’s main reactor was hit and their engines shut down, why didn’t that massive explosion on the side of the ship also knock their trajectory off course or send them spinning out of control?

Why did Luke fall sideways into a tunnel when he let go of the platform at the end of ESB?

Why did shooting an AT-AT in the neck blow it up only after it fell forward?

Why did Han and Leia only have face masks on inside the giant space slug when they assumed it was an empty asteroid with no atmosphere? And why was there sufficient gravity to walk normally on when the asteroid was smaller than our Moon?

Why was the arm that Ben Kenobi cut off in the cantina furry and clawed when one man was humanoid and the other had flippers?

Why does Shuttle Tydirium that is supposedly transporting parts and crew (by the rebels) to Endor look identical to the shuttle carrying the Emperor himself?

et al.

I expect this thread to get locked soon.

That would be pointless. We’d just discuss it another thread if that happened.

Then they will lock that thread too. They locked the banned thread, they obviously do not want threads of this nature.

Every thread on this site would be locked.

No, just those where we discuss bannings.

If they locked this thread, we’d probably discuss bannings in the Random Thoughts thread is my thinking.

And then they might lock that thread.

Warbler, Jay never said asking why someone was banned was not allowed.

“They” did not lock the thread. Jay locked it. Jay is not SW or jason. This thread would only be locked if we carried on and on about whether it was fair or warranted for certain people being banned. Simply clearing up the circumstances is not against the rules.

And in fact, Jay said the Banned Members thread could be used by mods to explain why members were banned; they just haven’t followed through on actually doing that. Duplicate threads might annoy Frink, but the mods don’t seem relatively bothered by it.

Similarly, we have two Bitching threads and while one was (and is) locked, the other is not.

My name is David Troutman. I enjoy playing video games (PC or Nintendo, primarily), listening to audiobooks and/or music, playing “Designer” board games, and watching TV shows or movies. My genre of choice is usually escapist fantasy/sci-fi adventure.

Teaching my daughter new things and discovering what she is learning from me or on her own also makes me happy.

Thanks for taking this thread seriously.

Sure thing.

btw, “Designer” board games refers to board games whose game designer’s name is often printed on the box. Basically hobbyist games rather than mass market. I like playing Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, Takenoko, and Star Realms; but I hate playing Monopoly and am wholly disinterested in Phase 10.

Seriously though, nothing he says matters, so who gives a shit what he said. First time in a long time I didn’t even bother to watch because what’s the point? He says something one day and then the next day claims he never said it, so nothing he can possibly say makes any difference. The only thing that matters is what he does.

I agree with all of this.

…outside of what he says having effects on foreign relations, of course.

But it wasn’t just Trump v. Hillary.
It was Trump v. Cruz v. Kasich v. Rubio v. Carson v. Bush v. Christie… et al.

v. Clinton v. Sanders.

It still baffles me how Trump managed to rise to the top among all the other better Republican candidates.

You are exactly right, sir. This is why I left. Because I do feel that the base has gotten away from our true principles, whether consciously or not.

And people keep saying that Pence would be awful, but I don’t see how he could be worse. People say it’s because he’s competent enough to succeed at ruining our country rather than giving it an incompetent good-ol’-college-try. But Pence wouldn’t have Twitter fights with North Korea and ruin the reputation and dignity of the Office of the President with what Trump’s staff calls having “adult daycare at the White House.”
