What specifically are the audio and subtitle tracks on the MKV?

I need to know for the spleen page. I'm getting it ready for when I upload.

v2.1's AVCHD says it had:

Yes, but the files are larger. Therefore, there are fewer files.

The total size is still 17.9GB.

Oh, and yeah. If anyone is wondering why I'm taking so long:

1) This is considerably larger than the AVCHD for v2.1.

2) I'm not at work. My internet at home is slower than at work. When Harmy announced he had uploaded it again, it was too close to the end of the workday to justify starting the download there.

If you're not sure about how to use JDownloader or can't make sense of what to do with the duplicates in the multiupload list, just wait until I put it on the spleen.

If you just want the thing now and are familiar enough with JDownloader, you don't offend me by not waiting.

=p.

Still downloading...

EDIT: Yes, it will be. It's currently 9:43pm CDT, and I started downloading the fixed version at about 5:30pm (because I got off work at 5). It will be up on the spleen some time tomorrow morning, so check back in 12 hours. (Yes it will be done downloading much earlier, but I do have to sleep.)

Thanks for PMing me.

Dang. I didn't know the MKV was THAT close to upload.

Okay, so I'm downloading from multi at my house for the moment. Once I get to the office tomorrow morning (I'm in Central US time), I'll download the rest from there and it should be put on Myspleen fairly quickly.

Also, it's not really about the "glory." I just volunteered because I'm picky about the DEED descriptions and formatting all looking the same and some people aren't particular about that.

I volunteer to put it on Myspleen. I did so for v2.1.

If you all recall, I was able to download 2.1 from uloz and put it up on Myspleen in very little time. The reason being because I'm using the internet at my office, which is really fricken fast.

Plus, I'm really nitpicky about wanting torrents for the same set to have identical formatting/layouts in their Myspleen descriptions. So if I do it myself, I can ensure that it looks right.

Hey all. I don't post much because I mainly just lurk while waiting for 2.5. Harmy, I did once mention that the yellow text on light colored background in the making-of documentary was rather hard to read at times. Can you perhaps put a black outline around the yellow of the text? It seriously would help make it more legible.

O my god, finally i find a great edition of the first Star Wars in 1977! but i have a question, the archive M2TS can burn into a DVD9?

or, the version ISO on Dvd donde esta? i can't find this version to burn into a DVD9.

Thank you man, you due a great job on this!

I'm new in the forum :)

Star Wars: Despecialized Edition (also ESB:DE and ROTJ:DE) is available on Myspleen.org. You need an invitation to be sent to you in order to set up an account there. I'll send you a private message with a link to a Myspleen invite in it.

On Myspleen, you can find various versions of Star Wars: Despecialized. The AVCHD versions are able to be burned to a DVD9, but they require a Bluray player to watch them on your TV.

Also, version 1.0 of Depecialized Edition was released before the official blurays were released by Lucasfilm, so Harmy didn't use the official blurays as a source for the video when making them. Versions 2.0, 2.1 and the upcoming 2.5 of Star Wars:DE are sourced in part from the blurays.

AVCHD does not have any menus or special features; the upcoming v2.5 Bluray does, but Harmy isn't finished making them yet. This is why he is planning to perhaps release v2.5 as an MKV before releasing the Bluray, so people who just want the film itself don't have to wait for it.

OK, so it is rendered. Now how should I approach this? Release the mkv with just the basic AC3 '77 mixes and let everyone mux in other tracks themselves or wait for the lossless and newly encoded tracks to become available?

For the MKV, I'd say release it and let everyone mux in other tracks.

What tracks are you missing for the Bluray?

why do people keep talking about Harmy releasing an MKV?  He already said the m2ts will be separate.  Encode the MKV yourselves, people.

Also, what's the latest word on 2.5's progress?

EDIT: nevermind. I see Harmy's post on the previous page. In any case, for myself it's the Bluray extras and menu that I'm looking forward to, so I'm sticking to 2.1 until the whole Bluray is out.

Oh, and Harmy, I think the yellow text on the documentary should have a black outline as sometimes it's hard to read the text for which source is being shown when the text is yellow and the source is bright. It's especially noticeable to me when showing the footage fixed by Laserschwert that the yellow text is hard to read.

Harmy said he's pretty much done with 2.5; it just needs to render, which takes days and he needs his computer for school at the moment so he'll render it after school is out. Also, yes the Despec versions of ESB and ROTJ are available. They are 1.0 though so they don't use the Blurays as a source like 2.1 or 2.5 of SW DEED does, but they're still the best versions available anywhere. They're in AVCHD on MySpleen.

...and no, they aren't just PARTLY Despecialized anymore.

If he had, what the heck would would we have done with our free time and disposable income the past 36 years?

A world without Star Wars is not a pleasant concept.

I am of the opinion that Lucas had nothing to do with SW; he might have been nothing more than just a hired hand for the first film and later revised history to make it look like he was the mastermind of the whole franchise. It's like saying Star Trek would not have existed without Rick Berman.

What is it with Ricks?

I kinda thought Star Trek "Nuked the fridge" when they introduced speed limits into TNG.

Instead of lines like...

"Warp 9.7 now ensign!!!" "But Captain, she'll fly apart sir!" "Dammit, fly her apart then!"

We got:

"Warp 2.5 Mr Data, and no faster mind you. We don't want to break any Starfleet Health and Safety regulations now do we.  Afterall I'm sure the Aliens we are pursuing will have adopted a similar code of practice"

You must not be aware that the reason why Voyager has tilting nacelles and why the Enterprise-E is narrow and long (compared to Enterprise-D) is because creating an elongated warp field keeps it from causing damage to subspace.

I presumed the designers thought it looked cool. If it's not said on screen, I don't lose sleep over it. And that doesn't get the Defiant off the hook. ;)

Sure. If it's not in the shows or movies, it's not canon.

I didn't think the TNG episode "Force of Nature" was made to give some convoluted reason for Trek having a speed limit. To me, the episode was a sort of commentary on how (our) current transportation methods are destroying the environment.

And besides, it's Trek. All they have to do is manufacture a variable-geometry warp field manipulator of some sort to fix the problem (which I assume is what the Defiant has).

But anyway, Star Trek, as a franchise, has a number of shows which are a commentary about certain aspects of our society. "Force of Nature" is one of them. Simple as that. It's not "nuking the fridge."

"Star Wars is the most overrated franchise ever."
Time

I fail to see what the value of having a "Star Wars really actually sucks a heck of a lot, but people are too fanboyish to admit it" thread on a forum dedicated to those who have a mutual interest in the OOT.

Seriously, CatBus, if Star Wars is so overrated, why on earth do you bother to work on translating subtitles for such a mediocre franchise into so many languages?

It really baffles me. "Hey, let's hang out and talk about Star Wars. I love Star Wars, it's great, and I'll always remember my first wonderful experience with it. But truthfully, no, it really actually sucks."

What the hell??

EDIT: This is the part where someone says "but 'overrated' doesn't mean 'sucks'." Okay, no it doesn't. What it does mean is that people are too apparently stupid to wake up and be realistic that they shouldn't find nearly as much joy in Star Wars as they seem to say they do.

I love the OOT. It's my favorite series of all time. That is, of course, all thanks to Adywan and Harmy. I don't adore the prequels, nor do I particularly enjoy their official releases. I do, however, enjoy the prequels after they've been edited by certain fans.

I like finding joy in watching these films. I don't know why you even hang out here if all you want to do is sit around and be cynical about it.
