MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)
Time
I wonder if MF will ever release these on dual layer as the video quality is good but obviously further compressed due to space issues. Plus, it's only Dolby 2.0.

* Scratch that, just found it was dolby 5.1. Maybe I'll refrain from asking about DL. Just got my ignorance handed to me in the preservation section.

I'm not sure if this has been questioned, but I was looking at my set, and on my 4:3 TV I can see two shades of black bars creating the widescreen aspect ratio. I just assumed it was done so to fit in the new subtitles, but has anyone else noticed this or to I have to fiddle with the TV's brightness/contrast again?

Custom DVD Cover WIP
Time
Hiya,

I'm in the process of doing my own covers for a couple of the fan edits. I know there are a lot out there already but some aspects of them I didn't like so I figured I'd try them myself. I was able to get some textless versions of Ep 1 & 2 and just finished re-creating the logo. Just thought I'd show a preview for the heck of it.

How bad can it get? (The changes to the films)
Time
I heard that all that we've seen so far as promotional material for Episode III is a rouse. All prints of Revenge of the Sith that theaters will recieve are actually prints of the Star Wars Holiday Special (Special Edition). Digitally remastered, THX certified, 6.1 Dolby Surround and expanded musical numbers with Bea Arthur and more scenes of Lumpy building stuff.

Anakin's ghost?!?!?!
Time
It's the dumbest look I've ever seen on a person. Look at him (including Celine Dion, this import is embarassing to my country), he looks like Hannibal in Silence of the Lambs. "You see son, I was able to go back to the light after I destroyed the emperor, fried his liver and ate it with a nice picantee sauce." If I see any kids wearing a mask that looks like that this Halloween, I'm locking the door.

Does this make sense?

I still think that a hundred Chipanzee's on a hundred typewriters will eventually write a better Star Wars script than GL (anyone else think of Green Lantern when you read that?). I wonder if the Muse that gave Lucas the Star Wars info is regretting her decision?

From far beyond the mortal plane...

"What the F**K! I didn't tell him to write that!"

Surprise! DVDs preserve original version after all!
Time
Funny thing happened last night while waiting for the bus as I was returning my unopened boxed set. I overheard a couple of guys talking as they walked past.

"...and if they don't exchange or refund them, tell them to flock off. These things are repulsing."

I'm sure they were talking about the SW movies. It might be a sign that Fox and Lucasfilm will have some returned items in the future for not being straight with the public.

Empire of Monopolies
Time
Does anyone else notice similarities between Lucasfilm and Microsoft? Both have created large empires that release a product (albeit vastly different in content and execution) that have bugs in them purposely knowing full well the public will buy them again hoping for the fixes have met only to find new ones. To me, the new DVD's are SP2, knowing there will be a SP3 down the road just ater RotS comes out. Does anyone get me skewed view of reality here?

My first impression of the new boxset...for what it's worth. (2004 OT DVD SE release)
Time
Anyone else find the flashes of the laser blasts too much? It hurt my eyes. I'd constantly see red envelope the screen for a split second, one after the other. Years from now, kids are going to watch it and pull a line like when the simpsons go to Japan and watch TV. "Hey, isn't this that movie that gives you seizures?"

The DVD's........Man!!!
Time
Hi everyone, I'm new. I was watching a friends copy of ANH last night and yeah it is a rushed job. I know for a fact Lucas wasn't going to release the pre-prequel trilogy (they can't be reffered to as original anymore) until after episode III so I'm guessing this rushed job was forced (sorry abour the pun) on him by fan demand or Fox distributions. I totally believe he'll release an archival edition with all six movies fix up for continuity in 2007 to coincide with the SW 30th anniversary. I think this is just a way to get more money from us fans to fund his ever growing empire. Oh well, I'm an intergalactic fish and I'll bit was smells good or bad.
