Info: James Bond - Laserdisc Preservations: 1962-1971
Time

Well, I just went through Dr. No on the Connery Collection and felt transported. Laserdisc continues to bring back childhood memories. The colors seemed properly balanced-the sound was perfect-and there were even a couple of reel change markers!

I didn't think there could be much improvement from the 1989 series, but this really feels improved.

The EU Discussion Thread
Time

The Daley Han Solo adventures top all for me, but are they fully considered EU?

Thrawn trilogy, Han Solo trilogy, Dark Forces arc, Splinter of the Mind's Eye, Shadows of the Empire, Courtship of Princess Leia, Hand of Thrawn

as far as the prequels go:

Jedi Apprentice, Jedi Quest, Shatterpoint (yeah! Star Wars meets Apocalypse Now!!), Last of the Jedi.

I also quite like the "Tales from ..." books.

My understanding is that it is only certain sections that are damaged, no? If a full-film transfer is out of the question, wouldn't a salvage job of certain reels be viable? Because the previous clip demonstrated that at least parts of the film look great.

Very much this.

Yes. It should certainly be utilized for this if possible.

Se7en is another film I wish I hadn't bothered to watch, being basically a Doctor Phibes film without the wit, style or laughs and dollops of tedious pretension.

You know that's kinda true. If only the third Phibes film had been made. But we at least got Theater of Blood.

The Day the Earth Stood Still. I don't know why it took me so long to see this one, but it is really really well done. Absolutely deserves its classic reputation. Full of little small moments that remind you just how much small touches are lacking in today's world.

avoid the Keanu version at all costs.
