F*** You-The Smashing Pumpkins
F*** You-The Smashing Pumpkins
Coming up next in the EU:
Star Wars: Being The Further Adventures of a Cash Cow:
Book 1: Han Solo and the Adventure of the Sciatica
Book 2: Beyond the reprogramming of a protocol unit
Book 3: The Treasure of the Wookiee Braids
and more to come...
It's going to be September 20th 2004 all over again.
If a new soundmix is being made, then why reuse the 04 scans? Yes they were cleaned up by Lowry Digital, but have so many other issues that a new start would be extremely beneficial.
If they simply would scan and release the 97s as-is there would be no problems with transfers! And isn't the digital footage already at 2K?
I don't like it either. It just makes it clearer for most people.
Batman 89
Kurt Cobain: About a Son
Two in the Wave
Ah, you forgot 1993! ;)
Love Will Tear Us Apart-Joy Division
Jules and Jim, Day For Night.
I miss Francois. Really bad.
Love Theme From Chinatown-Jerry Goldsmith (on repeat, I ripped my LD music only track)
I loved and still have I through III on the Genesis, but I was never very good at it...
Here's a few really quick random caps from the Spy transfer. I simply did a quick screengrab in quicktime so they aren't all matched in their frame sizes.
These are the transfers I’ve done with what I have on a crummy school Mac.
The transfers were done with a Pioneer CLD-D504.
Work chain: Imported LD and digital audio into Final Cut Pro in a lossless DV codec, cut together with any dropouts fixed with VHS if necessary, Scaled to fit a 16:9 anamorphic sequence, Exported as lossless quicktime mov, converted to Apple ProRes 422HQ, brought into Compressor and exported at maximum bitrate and Dolby ac3 @ 448 kbp/s (Surround encoded if necessary) with Reverse Telecine, DVD built and encoded in DVD Studio Pro to an .img file.
The Spy Who Loved Me-1989 LD with Theatrical Dolby Stereo Surround
You Only Live Twice-1989 LD with Theatrical Mono
Fan Filtration is working on a perfected transfer with the Connery Collection. I also did a transfer of the Connery Collection Vol. 1 since I had it, but I did no tweaking or correcting with any of these. They are all straight transfers of the LDs with just reverse telecine done.
Dr. No-1992 Connery Collection with 2.0 mono
From Russia With Love-1992 Connery Collection with 2.0 mono
Goldfinger-1992 Connery Collection with 2.0 mono
I also just started work on the 1993 edition of Chinatown which has an isolated score that will be included.
The Spy DVD is completed and depending on comments the others will soon be fully authored. I thought I would go ahead and start a thread for this project so that people could chime in with their thoughts. These certainly won’t be the best thing ever seen, but they serve the purpose I originally intended. And please, if you see anything that can be fixed or made better say so.
I also have done a transfer of the 97SE set and will probably make a separate thread for that in the SW Preservations forum.
I've heard some really great ones. Also the 45RPM version of In Rainbows will blow your mind...and your wallet. ;)
As soon as you realize it you can't go back. To see it really badly just pop any song into Audacity and see the brickwalled waveform...
And it didn't start with ipods. The real start was around the mid-90's.
Foo Fighters-Stranger Things Have Happened
I don't know exactly how much DJ changed for the final files, but I checked the test samples of the V2 and that isn't there.
Besides the pink tint in Mos Eisley, is there more bad color timing on the SE video transfers? I thought ESB and ROTJ were fine in that regard.

The mono remasters are absolutely fantastic. They're the only way to listen to Please Please Me through Sgt. Pepper in my opinion (second to the original mono vinyl pressings, that is). Same goes for all the singles that were mixed in mono.
Oddly enough, I still prefer the White album in stereo.
I agree-probably just because of "I GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!"
The whole loudness war issue is the primary reason of my growing vinyl collection. Even if the same master is used, the nature of the vinyl format allows for the audio to have more breathing room and thus more depth. Most releases today get a vinyl pressing at some point, and even classic albums get rather cheap well done reissues. Plus with good equipment you can rip your vinyl for FLAC files.
Which leads me to:
Rope-Foo Fighters
This is an all analog album, recorded in a garage-and the mastering nearly killed it. As it stands, the CD sounds much better than other modern albums because of the analog recording, but the vinyl release destroys it. It's a double LP 45RPM release and freaking awesome. Highly recommended!!
You should. You insulted the Bowman. That cannot fly.
Would there be an easy way to scale the image on ANH and ROTJ and simply move the Huttese subs slightly upwards so that they aren't cut off? I'd hate to have to leave the scenes scaled in a bit just to keep the subs intact.
I randomly came across Blacklisted the other day...really glad I did.
Tired of You-Foo Fighters
I just capped this for my SE LD conversion. I can also do the VHS mini docs.
Terrible news. This really hit me hard upon hearing it. Truly the last of the great directors. R.I.P.
No it should be young George complete with beard and glasses, and present day George.
Ahh! That helps. THX! Now if only I could figure out how to keep those pesky huttese subtitles in frame...
Well...it's obviously an issue...

Are we throwing a party at the end of this project? lol
There should be one with all the work that's been put into this. Every time I check back in this thread-more wow. ;)
