On a similar note, he also refers to lightsabers as laserswords most of the time.

AFTER SAYING THIS HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY BELIEVE GEORGE WHEN HE SAYS IN THE COMMENTARY OF AOTC, THAT THE STORMTROOPERS ARE CLONES?, MAYBE HE'S GOT ALTZHEIMERS?

there were similar inconsistencies in the original trilogy with pronunciations Han- Ha-rn, Leia -Layer- Lee-ah, Chewbacca-Chew-barker, it probably has more to do with the mixture of British and American actors in the film.

Although I prefer the sound of Count Dough-koo to Count Dookoo, Dookoo just sounds plain silly.

Wolfman Back In?

I remember reading that when Samuel Jackson heard Lucasfilm were making the prequals, he lobbied George Lucas for a part, he was such a fan of the star wars movies that he was willing to play even the smallest of roles just to be involved in a Star Wars movie , so George created Mace Windu as a member of the Jedi Council, and he was asked which colour lightsaber he wanted and he went for purple (this was at a time where there weren't any particular rules or trends regarding light-sabre colours).

I think showing Boba Fett unmasked as a child with an annoying 'kiwi accent' in AOTC did a lot more to destroy any of the mystery behind this character, than unnessecarily redubbing any of his lines in Empire, wouldn't it have been a lot better in AOTC if they replaced Jango with Boba Fett as the original model of the clones, kept him masked, and didn't give any clues as to his age, or what species he was?

It was pointless trying to generate sympathy for the young orphaned Boba and in my opinion did as much harm to his character as Greedo shooting at Han first.

Also, you didn't seem to address the fact that Yoda himself must have been a Dark Lord of the Sith in order to have had knowledge of the rule, as it was put into place AFTER they were wiped out... and that comes from George himself.

If Yoda is meant to be one of strongest Jedi of all time, wouldn't it stand to reason that at some point in his 900 year life, a Sith lord tried to 'convert' Yoda to the darkside, perhaps even Darth Sidious's former master, assuming it's an unbroken lineage of two at any one time.
It would explain Yoda's knowledge of the Sith.

It would've also been nice if perhaps a little dialogue revealed some sort of back story as to why Fett was somewhat "obsessed" with Solo. (After all - they had to have some past history together as only Solo and Chewbacca called him "Boba Fett," but everyone else knew him as "bounty hunter."

Boba Fett (bounty hunter) + Han Solo (smuggler with large bounty on his head) = 'why Fett was somewhat "obsessed" with Solo'

Han refers early in tESB about 'that run in with the bounty hunter on Ord Mantell' I'm assuming that between A New Hope and TESB , Han had a few encounters with bounty hunters including Boba Fett. Do we really need any more backstory on such a minor insignificant character in the series? I never quite understood the fascination with Boba Fett, when you consider his mininmal on-screen contributions to the series he is no where near the intergalactic badass that the fanboys think he is,

- his only contribution in Empire was following the Falcon to Bespin and leading the Empirials to Cloud city, Vader and his troops did the rest , then Boba Fett acted as a courier service delivering Han to Jabba, even Greedo could have done that!

- in ROTJ he didn't fare much better in the skiff battle, (fair enough he did shoot those cool ropes at Luke) but it didn't really slow Luke down by much, and then a 'BLIND' Han Solo accidently hit Boba's backpack while his back was turned, causing it to misfire and launch him into the Sarlaac Pit' and I don't care what EU says BOBA NEVER ESCAPED FROM THE PIT, I only wish George had of CGI'd some razor sharp teeth into the Little Shop of Horrors Sarlaac monster, so that we could remove any doubt to the fact that Boba didn't survive, as far as I'm concerned, if we had to suffer through seeing the obnoxious beginnings of this character in AOTC, then it's only fair that we get to see his death on-screen as well . Obviously Boba fett's reputation far surpasses his acomplishments on-screen, and his Father didn't fare much better.

-granted Jango did manage to hold his own during his battle with Obi-wan Kenobi on Kamino, but it didn't take much effort for Mace Windu to lop his head off, and to top it all off he couldn't even assasinate Padme, he had to hire another bounty hunter to do it for him.
The only thing that the fetts proved in the movies was how clumsy they were.

Boycott Special Edition DVD's - I know you can do it

I'm not sure if a boycott is the answer, the September release is going to be huge regardless of how we feel about it, I don't think Lucasfilm will be worrying about how many units they potentially aren't selling due to any boycott. The average Joe that will be buying this set will be oblivious to the changes unless they've been following sites like this, and it's scary to say that a lot of people probably won't even notice the majority of changes.

The purists and fans that are wanting the original theatrical trilogy to be released, are no doubt a significant but minor slice of the pie, and it appears that even the fans in here are split down the middle as to who will be buying the September set. Having recently scored a set of the Anamorphic discs (thanks Rikter) , I am actually looking forward to seeing how Lucas has bastardized them this time around, the majority of changes I'm sure will make me cringe , but I'm curious to look at the classic movies 'from a different point of view', I'd always prefer the originals but I've got the THX vhs set as well as the Anamorphic dvd-r's and that should tide me over until George Lucas comes to his senses.

I think once the September release has been out for a while and the average Joe realises how much it's been ruined, I think we will get a lot more converts and hopefully signatures to this cause, it might finally make Lucas and Co turn around and say 'Well, we made a shit load in september, and the saps are still crying out for more! I wonder how much money we could make if we actually gave them what they want!'

minor correction Obi Wonton, JambeDavdar posted the links to the episode 7 pics, not me. But they do look like cut scenes from a computer game, they just look a bit bright and perfect and overtly CG for my liking, a bit like the Roughnecks starship Troopers series, I' d be happy enough to see something like this in an ongoing tv series set in the Star Wars universe, but based on entireley new stories with new characters.

I still haven't seen any of the Clone Wars series, the visual style of it put me off, they all look like powderpuff girls and Yoda looks ridiculous in it, but I'll probably get round to it before May next year.

Thank God I'm not alone in thinking A.I was a really great movie that was just misunderstood at the time of release, Not quite a Speilberg film yet not quite a Kubrick film either it was a film that's really hard to pin down exactly what it is, I really liked the idea of a futuristic take on the Pinnochio story, and despite it's fairytale elements, it was way too dark in it's themes to be your usual Speilberg kids flick, I always thought this film would develop a cult following given enough time, similar to the way that Bladerunner was an underrated movie for years, before it developed a following.

I'd like to see Lando and the Falcon go out in a blaze of glory trying to escape the explosion from the Death Star, as was originally intended in an early draft of the script, I never really liked Lando much, he always seemed like he was tacked on to the trilogy as the token black guy, and I found it hard getting involved with the space battle storyline because they never even tried to develop his character to the point where I could really give a shit whether he survived or not, I think the Victory at the end would have been a lot more poingant if there had been a few sacrifices along the way.

I know Steven Spielberg has spoken out against CGI ever being used to recreate an existing actor either living or dead , although I'm not sure if GL is of the same opinion, but I doubt you could even come close to capturing Harrison Fords performance or personality in the trilogy, the other character's possibly, but it would end up as dull and soulless as the prequal trilogy.
