Using Rogue One footage is dumb because it’s very clearly set during the OT. There’s no way to remove all the iconography in a way that would make it plausibly pass off as being in the ST era.

To be fair, the ST already has a lot of iconography and weapons/vehicles from the OT (X-Wings, TIE Fighters, Stormtroopers, etc.) It would be slightly difficult but I think someone could feasibly pull it off.

Awwwww! I wish I had my computers. Basically, I think it would work by taking out the “you’ll take both Saber to Exagol” and replace it with “We’ll always be with you”. Then move the “but this is your fight” after that line. It’ll take some work shifting the clip arrangement but that’ll work in many ways.

This is the way.

I think this is one of those changes that works better as a concept rather than in actual practice. I just think the syntax of it is weird. If it was something like “A thousand generations live in you now… and we’ll always be with you… But this is your fight.”, it wouldn’t sound as wonky to me. But, I’m not sure if that’s possible.

😕

That is one, of many nags, in TLJ during Rey’s Force Cave Scene has her voice over. That whole scene, while visually interesting, doesn’t really keep my interest or engagement since we have a literal voice over describing everything.

Sometimes, silence speaks volumes.

BRB, stealing this for a potential personal fan edit of TLJ I may or may not do.

This is how I’ve managed to get around that line: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b7m-2Zr8B_0USRM27MO1xQSdNxbFtgiV/view?usp=sharing

Granted I’ve spliced that entire sequence together without cuts back to Finn and Poe, but I think it the dialogue works
OK in context as is, just with removing the line. “Your parents were no one. They chose to be, to keep you safe[…] It was Palpatine who had your parents taken. He was looking for you, but they wouldn’t say where you were. So he gave the order.”

I do want to try and change that line to “had your parents killed” instead of taken (all of the dialogue on this ship reeks of re-write salad) but other than that I think it’s relatively satisfying.

Damn, I think that actually works out pretty great!

When Luke lifts the X-Wing, what if we carry through the Rise of Skywalker Theme (which is already playing when Rey pulls the Wayfinder from Kylo’s ship) instead of transitioning to Yoda’s Theme? I get what they’re going for (namely: extremely obvious, hit-you-over-the-head-with-a-mace parallels), but…ehhh. Besides, even ignoring the Yoda disconnect, the Rise of Skywalker Theme is the key theme for this entire movie; and with the new coloring, this is the key scene for the film as well. There’s a lot of significance to pairing the two, instead of…Yoda’s Theme. I think the scene would have a lot more power and carry a lot more weight if we allow it to stand on its own, rather than distracting the audience with, “Hey! Yoda’s Theme!”

You know, I never had a problem with the Yoda music in this scene. But re-watching the current iteration of the “day to night” Ahch-To scene, I actually agree with you on just finishing out the TROS theme instead.

JEDIT: Just saw that Hal vetoed this. Lmao. Oh well.

I’m not good with colour correction, someone else would need to test it but, I think Mustafar could look a lot better with a bit more of a Orange / hellish tint, I know Mustafar is rejuvenating itself but I think it looking a little more like Revenge Of The Sith colour wise would be a lot better.

The tint should be a lot more subtle, just not a job for me.

Hmm… This could be interesting.

Looking fantastic (that first shot - wow).

😃

Allow me to also join in the chorus: This sequence is turning out fantastic.

Other than the quibbles DZ and jarbear have color wise, the only nitpick I could possibly have is that the Porg shot looks out of place. However, that could easily just be something I could change for a personal edit.

Sherlock, you’re an absolute madman. lmao.

Personally speaking, I’m a fan of Option 4 with a little bit of Option 2 thrown in (I LOVE the interrupting Rey idea). However, like Hal, I still think the “It was fear that kept me here” line should still be in it. I’m about as much of a TLJ fanboy as you can ever find (having had MANY heated arguments with my anti-TLJ friends about it). With that said, I’ve never really had a problem with that line and I don’t think it really goes against anything Johnson was doing in his film. Also, I understand what you’re going for with the pause. But as it stands in each clip you posted, it just seems kind of awkward. I think it would just be best to keep the line intact where it’s at.

Another criticism I have is that the “Lesson Three” line in the fourth clip sounds a bit wonky to me. Oddly enough, I didn’t notice it sounding so weird in the third clip. But it’s definitely noticeable in that last one.

Anyways, good job on doing all that work though! It’s nice to actually see these options are like playing out rather than just talking about them.

The original thought was for it to replace “It was fear that kept me here,” to avoid retconning Luke’s arc in the last film. So it would go:

“I was was wrong (to stay here.) [pause] Lesson three: What are you most afraid of?”

So, it’s like the title “Lesson three” opens the entire topic of “facing your fears,” rather than just buttoning up the final moral of the lecture.

This could also work.

Hmm… You know, I’m going to be completely honest. This might not work out for the Rey Palpatine version. JXEDitor’s initial idea was to use the “Lesson Three” line to replace “Because you’re a Palpatine”. Because of that, there was a natural gap in the dialogue where the new line was shuttled in.

Obviously, if there is a way to organically put it in along with the Palpatine line, that would absolutely be swell.

JEDIT:

You know what? We could always replace that “Rey” line with the “Lesson Three” line in the clip you posted Jar Jar. So, it would go:

“Because you’re a Palpatine.”

Rey reacts

Luke sits down and we don’t see his face. “Lesson Three”

“Some things are stronger than blood.”

What do you think?

Nev that is awesome! Beautiful work.

I’m mates with JX, What do you need?

I tried reworking JX’s 'third lesson audio and we talked about it a long time ago, shared it in here and everyone decided against using it.

Oh, wow! It’s amazing how things can turn in the span of a thread. Lol.

Would you happen to still have the link to your reworking?

Ok, I finally found it. It’s made by this guy on YouTube named “JXEditor” (not sure if he’s a part of these forums or not). Anyways, the scene is… a lot rougher than I remember it being. But, it could be a good start in trying to figure out how to crack this nut.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRdU7cTFwOo

Also Jar, if you’re still having any trouble finding any clips of Mark Hamill saying “three” for your pass, I found these HD YouTube videos of the Wing Commander games he was apart of in the 90’s. I think if you find any instance of him saying three, you could also take it and then “gruff up” his voice to make him sound like Luke.

JEDIT:

I just remembered he’s going to be in that Star Citizen game as well (which means you wouldn’t have to “gruff up” his voice. lol.) Here’s some videos that were circulating around 2015 with a couple of interviews plus a cutscene he’s in. Maybe these can help as well?

And finally, in regards to the new “night to day” Ahch-To scene… I know it’s pretty much locked in now. However, I was reminded of the TLJ announcement video that includes a shot of Skellig Michael that I had never seen before in the films. I thought it could be something to maybe look at and possibly replace the documentary footage I think the current scene has now.

Jedi statue

Piggy backing off of your ideas a bit but… It would be dope if this shot we re-colored to be Exegol (maybe even doing some work to make the statue less Jedi-y and more Sith-y). After that, you could swap in whatever ship you want for it (either Ren’s TIE from either time he comes to the planet or Luke’s X-wing when Rey arrives).

Doing this could help with some of the pacing issues people might have with TROS (especially if it’s used for Ren’s initial arrival to Exegol following the Mustafar Minute).
