God, just imagine it - the rain, the crackly saber, the bleak Duel of the Fates music…Rey accidentally loses control and shoots lightning at her friend (again), and then a minute later the legendary Skywalker Saber - that she failed to rebuild - starts to sputter out. She has utterly failed as a Jedi. It’s genuinely her lowest point in the film - makes a whole lot more sense why she would suddenly be so scared that she goes into hiding on Ahch-To.

UGH, I LOVE THIS.

Please let this become a reality.

Personally speaking, I see no problem with the clip Sherlock posted. I think it looks natural enough.

How feasible do y’all think it would be to pull a LOTR and have the “History Lesson” scene be a prologue for the movie? How I imagine it, you would keep Gal Gadot’s narration and just have the scene play out normally, maybe even tack on the “They say the Age of Heroes is over…” line at the end and then go directly into the opening of the film proper.

I think the best way someone could construct this ending would be to use shots of Ben standing on the edge of the Death Star ruins, before he talks with Han’s memory, and make it so Ben standing on that rock outcrop where Luke becomes one with the Force.

I think you could also maybe repurpose some footage from Silence (he looks older plus I know a lot of that movie has some cool shore shots and whatnot).

On the other hand, for those wanting Ben to join Rey, I think you could use footage from “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” (although to be perfectly fair, I actually haven’t seen this movie).

Sherlock, that seems like a pretty dope idea! I’d be interested in seeing an edit like that.

Besides graffiti, I didn’t think to much extra would be necessary. You can already hear blaster shots and stuff in the distance I believe, during certain points of the Kijimi sequence. I think adding more sounds of distant blaster fire, explosions, even battle cries, could help keep that in the audiences mind. It looks like the stormtroopers are raiding houses, so you could even have something like a distant First Order announcement saying anyone harboring insurgents will be punished, or something like that.

I like this idea quite a bit (and I low-key wish something like this would have happened with TROS to really signify it being the last movie in the series).

Anyways, my only critique is to maybe polish it up a little and try to use some footage that’s more obscure/hasn’t been used in the movies before.

The effect looks great but I’m not a huge fan of the idea in general. Sorry for being a Negative Nancy. 😕

However, I do think your idea of using a 4K version of the movies and scaling them so they’re not 1:1 is a good idea though.

So, somewhat related to this concept:

Today, I remembered how a friend of mine made the discovery a couple of years ago that the last 50 or so minutes of The Last Jedi syncs up almost perfectly with a good chunk of Kanye West’s “The Life of Pablo”. Having seen some of the clips he had originally posted about it on Twitter, it really does sync up scarily well. Almost to “The Dark Side of the Rainbow” types of levels of synchronicity.

Anyways, I went ahead and followed his specific instructions and made an edit of it. If anyone wants a copy, just hit me up.

I like the idea of having iambic pentameter or other poetic elements, save for rhyming. Even for SW, it seems weird to immediately translate into rhymed, poetic rendering.

You’re joking, but… I was actually just about to suggest maybe having a split second shot of it exploding to preserve the grand reveal of the wreckage.

Anyways, in regards to Rogue’s ideas, I like either Option B or C. The more we thread links to what both the actual film and the fan edit puts forth, the better.
