The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

I've just posted this idea on my own thread, but thought I'd post it here too as more people read this.

Well I've just had an idea about a possible way to fix the whole Jango/Boba issue in the film. As it stands, he's clearly affiliated with both sides, both being the host for the clone army and being on geonosis with Dooku (which not only makes the jedi look ridiculously stupid for still using the army, but also poses its own problems in an edit where Dooku is a good Jedi)

So here's my idea - after escaping Obi Wan on Kamino, we use one of the existing P.O.V Slave 1 cockpit shots, and have a hologram of a hooded, obscured faced Palpatine/Sidious come up. We then have him say (either through sampling existing dialogue, or voice modulation, or a combination of the two) something like "very good, now lead them to the seperatists. We will have our war." (or something cleverer than that - I haven't really thought about the line much).

The point is, Jango/Boba now has a reason to lead Obi Wan to Geonosis. We then never see him again after that (he is not in the arena) and Dooku's line of "there are no bounty hunters here that I am aware of" becomes truth.

Well I'm still at the editing. This is such a mess of a film that a lot of it is unsalvageable (at least with my limited skills and ingenuity) It's looking more and more like it's going to be way under an hour and a half long when I'm done with it. I don't mind though. So long as it demonstrates my ideas effectively for consideration in people's future edits, and becomes a bearable viewing experience, I'll be happy :)

I think the majority of users here appreciate criticism when it's constructive. Venal, IMO would just bitch everyone out for their opinions without really adequately explaining why he thought they were wrong. He appeared to be "above" that and his later posts were nothing more than trolling. I couldn't give a damn if he was in the business or not, he was rude, arrogant, and thought people should take his word as gospel even when he didn't provide a compelling argument, and sometimes didn't seem to know what he was talking about at all.

His career path (judging by his matte work) has obviously been visually oriented, yet he was a complete know-it-all about scriptwriting, character development etc. Now maybe he does happen to know about those things, but this would have nothing to do with him being a "pro" as they're in a completely different area to his profession.

I guess my point is that the fact someone is a "pro" or not is irrelevant. It doesn't make their opinion any more valid than anyone else's when they're talking about things outside of their professional expertise. And even if it is in their area, they may still go against popular opinion.

Did he leave then? I assumed he was banned.

I had the same issue with the Yoda blink as other members. Just feels too slow to me and looks a bit unnatural. May be better, in my opinion, if it was just left as it is.

All the other animations you've done are seamless though. Honestly fantastic!

I was wondering how you'd work changing the Tydirium to a freighter when it's named as a shuttle twice in dialogue, but I realised that'd be a relatively easy cut:

Madine: We have stolen a small Imperial [snip] cargo ship. [snip] Using a secret Imperial code, a strike team will land on the moon and deactivate the shield generator.

I suspect cutting Piett's reference might be a little harder. He says it very fast, and if you just cut the word "shuttle", it's less clear what Tydirium refers to, given it's the only instance of the name in the film.

I don't see any problem with it still being referred to as a shuttle, regardless of whether the model changes. It'd just be a different class of shuttle, I thought, so that the same model isn't reused throughout the saga, and Vader's shuttle doesn't turn out to be the same bog standard model used to transport supplies (correct me if I'm wrong). Is there a rule that says shuttles can't transport cargo?

Edit: The kind of shuttle we see taking off in the Dewback scene in ANH is the kind I assumed Ady would be using. It looks cargo-ey.

I think I may have had the most bizarre dream of my entire life.

Ady had asked forum members to attend some kind of workshop, where he unveiled a new Rancor (which was actually a wearable costume) and appealed to us to try it on so he could decide who would be able to cameo in ROTJ:R. Apparently I was just the right build for his vision of the Rancor, so I got the part.

And then it gets a bit hazy. Ady gives me his card (yes, in this dream Ady has a card) and I go to his house to do some filming. However when i get there, I'm faced with a man at Ady's side armed with knives, duct tape and garrote wire. Turns out Ady is some kind of Hannibal Lecter type serial killer.

I escape and I'm on the run from Ady and his henchman, and then it all becomes even weirder. Ady, the other guy, and myself are all suddenly Transformers in an epic city-demolishing Michael Bay (and Angel) worthy battle.

I've got to stop eating cheese before bed.

OBI-WAN: The truth?

COUNT OLIE: The truth. What if I told you that the Republic was now under the control of a Dark Lord of the Sith? That's a person inbued with the force by the Midichlorians (that's microscopic lifeforms that live inside your cells) but use it for evil instead of good, don't you know?

OBI-WAN: No, that's not possible. The Jedi would be aware of it.

COUNT OLIE: The dark side of the Force has clouded their vision, my friend. Hundreds of Senators are now under the influence of a Sith Lord called Darth Sidious. He goes by the name of Palpatine, and he's the supreme chancellor. He plans to wipe out the Jedi due to their stupidity in playing right into the hands of an obvious conspiracy involving a clone army that the Jedi did not have created, by using it anyway. He then intends to create an Empire and oppress and subjugate the entire galaxy.

OBI-WAN: I don't believe you.

COUNT OLIE: Then you're a moron.

I agree that, despite looking very cool, flames wouldn't make very much sense because as I imagine it, these things would have been designed to land as non violently as possible so as to avoid damage.

Off topic, but amusing, I've seen you've joined the facebook group concerning me, Ady. Don't I look nice in drag? :P

Haha. It's ok. Well My first instinct was 'Rise of the Clones' but that would mean overuse of "of the".

I guess it's not a big deal. I can always put my preferred title in my own personal copy, and use a more "unique to the editor" title for the ones I send out/seed (if people want a copy that is)

Anyone else have any ideas? I think my favourite title so far is Magnoliafan's 'The Clone War' so I'll be giving credit where credit is due if I do choose that title, even though I did come up with the title independently.

Other titles such as JasonN's 'Twilight of the Republic', and Adigitalman's 'Path to the Dark Side' I'm not so keen on. The former just doesn't feel very Star Wars to me, and the latter tells us a little too explicitly that Anakin is turning.

The edits themselves are great though!

Haha... Did anyone see my link?

I missed it when you posted it, but bravo on the blue light effect! Really pretty.

In regards to the whole Sifo Dyas thing, I eliminated mention of him altogether, as well as making the clone army common knowledge (I changed it from "using a bounty hunter called jango fett to create a clone army" to simply "using a bounty hunter to create THE clone army")

That's why in the Radical Prequel Redux thread I suggested merging them.

Giving Anakin a reason to come home and try to save his mother and the slaves he dreamed of releasing as a boy.

Tatooine the nowhere place was already blown by ROTJ and TPM.

Look where all the major wars keep happening on this planet (political faultlines) Tatooine being just outside the Republic and a bit of a dump would be the ideal place for the Seperatists to stage an attack on the Republic.

Having armies of battle droids marching about would live long enough in the memories of Mos Eisley residents to have droids banned from Cantinas.

The Jawas would make a mint clearing the battlefield, the Sandpeople would be mighty miffed with all their sacred lands being polluted by offworlders shooting the place up and the Empire would later install a corrupt gangster/warlord like Jabba to keep the shadey elements under control.

Shifting the colours from red to yellow wouldn't be too hard.

Talk for another place but it might be made to work.

Could it be that Ady already had this in mind when he put the battle droid on the Sandcrawler in ANH:R? Just a thought :)

As far as adding in a smoke stack or two.........I could definitely see Jabba as the type of character to willfully crank out pollution into the Tattoine atmosphere.

Not only is he a vile gangster.....he's a jerk.

This would fit in with how the Hutts treated their own planet of Nal Hutta. Very polluted.
