Star Wars Episode II: The Galaxy Divided (The Brash Cut) - CANCELLED
Time

Slowly.....lol. I've been tinkering with certain scenes in After Effects - frame by frame rotoscoping without the rotobrush tool (as that only really works when the edges are clearly defined and the scene isn't very dark) but still don't have the hang of it yet. It's the colour correction that's the biggest pain. I don't know how other people do it. I wish someone could release a lossless source video that's already been colour graded. I've also started a secret side project which I'm hesitant to announce on the forums at this early stage so I'm dividing my time between the two.

^ Well said.

So Ady, I'm curious to hear about what you think about my point regarding the electrical effect on the Ion blast. I think keeping it in is ruining the integrity of the movie, and you should listen to what I have to say, as my interpretation is gospel and not up for debate. No one reply unless you agree with me!

lol. I got the idea fro the electrical effect from the walker lasers that appear in some parts of the battle. I wanted the Ion laser to look a little different from regular lasers and with it being an electrical type weapon in my version it was a decision to make it look more "electrical"

I never even knew about that effect on the AT-AT lasers! Why?!

Someone earlier said something about the color of the ion cannon... Lemme get that one first: The ion cannon (I could of said the KDY v-150 Planet Defender class ion cannon... see how good I'm being?! ^^) is suppose to be blue, ion cannons have been established in ANH as blue with electrical discharging sparks. Recall R2 being shot in the canyon by the jawa: blue. In X-wing and TIE fighter the games: blue. Now ion cannon in Revisited: BLUE! yay! ^^ Considering how much blue Ady has removed from ESB maybe he thought he'd add some back with some hot ionized blasting awesomeness.

It was me that mentioned the Ion cannon (unless there was someone else) but i never said i disagreed with it being blue. On the contrary, I've always wanted it blue. What I didn't like is there being electricity in the "beam" itself, rather than it being a result of it on the ship on impact.

I'm pretty sure we never saw electrical arcs in the beam itself in mid air in ANH. Only when it hits r2 do we see any electricity, so that's how I think this Ion Cannon should be too.

Really don't get how it looks "fake". If anything, with the colour correction that's been done, it looks more real, no?

The one and only thing I disagree with in that scene is how the Ion blast has electricity around it (rather than causing the electrical disruption on impact, which is how I've always seen it) but this is Ady's edit, not mine.

Does it say much about my lack of a life that I found myself dreaming about Revisited last night?

Actually it was more of a nightmare...

Ady had decided that as Empire was the only movie that didn't feature Tatooine, he was going to add a scene set there right at the start of the movie.

It had AT-ATs (thus ruining the impact of their appearance through the binoculars on Hoth)

And they galloped just like in that famous Robot Chicken skit:

What's more. Everyone here seemed to love it.

I woke up screaming.

...ok that part might not be true. Still, pretty scary.

Quoted from that article:

"The original idea was that they would recover [the kidnapped] Han Solo in the early part of the story and that he would then die in the middle part of the film in a raid on an Imperial base. George then decided he didn’t want any of the principals killed. By that time there were really big toy sales and that was a reason.”

The discussed ending of the film that Kurtz favored presented the rebel forces in tatters, Leiagrappling with her new duties as queen and Luke walking off alone “like Clint Eastwood in the spaghetti westerns,” as Kurtz put it."

If Ady can pull anything close to that off, he's truly a magician.

Sorry it's off topic.

Not to try and bring this back up, but Angel is spot on. These are just movies which happen to have had a LOT of (contradictory) supplemental information written for them because George Lucas is a marketing genius.

For the OT, they are unnecessary, we know everything we need to know just by watching.

For the PT, unfortunately, they are because it's so badly written and nothing makes sense.

Ady is editing them as self contained movies so anything outside is irrelevant.

If I could venture an opinion, I think Angel would be an excellent candidate for a copy of the workprint, as he can offer constructive criticism on the visuals (not that you haven't already got an eye for that sort of thing Ady) but every little helps. I mean, you can tell from all his mockups that he knows what works visually. Just a suggestion. I'm sure any member with the workprint would be happy to send a copy with your approval (rather than you sending it yourself and eating into your limited funds)
