What if TFA is awful?

 1. Female protagonists Q. Haven’t we had enough of poor female characters in PT? A. Yes they added nothing!

I hope this is a joke. If not, please leave this site forever.

PT=Prequel trilogy (padme and the one that looked the same) and yes whilst they weren’t true protagonists they had a lot of wasted screen time, but on reflection the whole PT was wasted film never mind screen time. I wasn’t having a dig at Leia 😉

It’s sad that you think that the term “PT” was what needed addressing about your post. Not, y’know, the misogyny.

The Unofficial Complete REVISITED SAGA Ideas and Random Discussion Thread

Longtime lurker here chiming in. I love Adywan’s ‘Revisited’ work. I know this thread is “unofficial,” but I did want to chime in an idea here. I recently released my own fanedit of Return of the Jedi (read the thread about it here) and played around with a lot of different ideas.

Here’s a GIF of one scene that I edited, that I think would do well to be implemented in ROTJ Revisited: http://i.imgur.com/3dYzKaZ.gif

It is officially Star Wars canon that Anakin disappears into the Force (a la Obi-Wan and Yoda), although it happens off-screen. Just a thought.

Some fine work to be sure, but…

Having Anakin’s body vanish right after death completely spoils the later reveal that he has ascended to being a force ghost. His ghost appearing was clearly meant to be a big moment for the audience and should always be the first indicator that he’s made it to “the other side”. Otherwise we’ve already had our visual cue that he’s made it and it diminishes the impact. Showing the ghost after just becomes a redundant moment and no longer a surprise.

I think it’s a strong possibility that it’ll be better than ROTJ. Especially when the inevitable fanedit comes out which removes some of the more obnoxious visuals, or ‘Abramsisms’.

I can’t ever imagine it supplanting Empire, but you never know. I’m keeping an open mind, but curbing my optimism so I’m not too disappointed.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

I guess we can ignore everything that came from anyone who said that Rey gives Finn his name. I remember more than a couple of people claiming to have insider info included that in their story.

Maybe not though. The editing on trailers can be deceptive, and I suspect this will be the case with this film a LOT. For instance:

Rey: I don’t know your name.
Finn: I don’t have a name. I’ve always answered to FN-2187
Rey: That’s not much of a name. Why don’t I call you Finn?
Finn: (Slightly miffed) Finn…
Rey: Nice to meet you Finn. I’m Rey.

Bit convoluted, and I have no beliefs about it one way or the other, but just proves things might not be what they seem. 😉

This is one of the big mysteries of the film. Why is Luke in seclusion? Why hasn't he trained anyone?

My take on it is that he has trained some Jedi before going into hiding. Maz Kanata for one, as she seems to have force training of some sort judging by her dialogue. Where would she have got that from if not from Luke?

Also Han says "They're real" referring to the Jedi. Not they were real, but they ARE. My guess is that there are quite a few former pupils of Luke's scattered about the galaxy, having gone into seclusion because of...something.

Literally all of what you said has occurred to me...except for the stuff about Zuko. I'm not familiar with the Last Airbender.

The fact Kylo is established as someone who isn't scarred and damaged like Vader was (and we see him without his helmet at least twice), I've even wondered whether he'll be redeemed fairly early on in the trilogy, and switch allegiance. Maybe too much of a stretch, seeing as we already have Finn doing that.

Not that his face would have to be pretty and unspoilt to become an enduring good character, but it works better thematically. For instance, had the OT been written differently and carried on, I can't imagine Anakin hanging around looking like the spawn of Freddy Krueger.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I wouldn't feel comfortable filming myself work either.

Also, it wouldn't be how he works in the NLE software (Which is Sony Vegas, not Adobe Premiere) that would interest people. What's defined Revisited has been the visual effects work, so it's his workflow in Adobe After Effects that would be cool to see. Actually cutting and moving footage around is extremely basic and would be boring to watch. Especially with Empire, which isn't being moved around at all.

I'm sure we can expect some VFX breakdowns accompanying the Blu Ray release, where we'd see layer after layer added with accompanying explanatory text, until we have the final shot.

If people do want to see instructional guides, sites like Videocopilot already have that pretty much covered.

Hopefully, Williams composed a new fanfare as opposed to what graced the digital releases of the existing films.

This is my hope as well. I still don't get how they got it so catastrophically wrong.

It's a shame that my "fixed" version you posted on the twitter didn't get many shares. A lot of people I spoke to didn't hear anything wrong with the original, which I found extra depressing.

I don't see why. The Inquisitor made up for a lack of skill with an overly fancy blade whose faults were exposed duly.

Meanwhile, Kylo's saber is just ridiculous.

I don't care for in-universe explanations. I just think it's stupid.

But if you really want to explore that, it makes very little sense to me how the blades can rotate around the 'loop' while the hilt itself remains stationary. Isn't the blade meant to come OUT of the handle? It seems to on all other sabers.

Just in case "Scratch built" confuses anyone, Ady did in fact use a cast of the original head (and I believe the legs and feet too). The shirt section was made from an actual shirt dipped in resin and arranged to get the wrinkles. He intended to use the hands from a casting as well, but the detail was lacking, so he ended up using his own hands (is a hand cameo going to become a tradition? lol)

The entire thing was then moulded and re-cast. So that's what doubleofive meant.

Star Wars Sound Effects Archive - A collection of SW sounds for use in Fan Edits (* unfinished project *)
Time

Yeah I have that book too. Recorded it by connecting it to the line-in jack on my soundcard.

These download links could have saved me some time had they been available 4 years ago (provided they're in adequate quality that is. Haven't checked yet).

As for the other sounds, yeah the Rogue Leader stuff does seem promising. There's not enough X Wing & Tie Fighter sounds out there in high quality, so those should be a great addition to the archive. Thanks!

Would you want to see Anakin or Obi Wan in the new trilogy, portrayed by their PT actors?
Time

Bringing Ewan back as a Force Ghost would make no sense, and would cause a massive disconnect with the audience (Why is he flip-flopping between young and old forms?)

Hayden Christensen only makes sense if the SE is your go to version. Just no.

Regardless, there's no need for the Ghosts of Prequel Past to appear when the new protagonists have no familiarity with them.

Presumably there must be saber-proof materials otherwise the sword hilt would melt at the projector end and fall to pieces.

Having the cross-guard like that is a bit like having a razor sharp handle for a razor.

From what I always gathered from reading supplemental books and articles back in the day (not sure how much those can be relied upon now with Disney reclassifying what is canon) the positioning of the crystal had to be so precise, that even a micron out of line and the handle would explode upon activation. This certainly suggests to me that from the crystal upwards, the blade isn't in contact with the inside of the hilt at all, though that's just my interpretation of it.

You're spot on about the cross-guard. The "it's just like a sword" argument doesn't take into account that the cross-guard on a sword can't itself murder you. But I'm willing to suspend some of my disbelief when the wielder has magical awareness and reflexes :)

ugh

My sentiments exactly. I'm a huge fan of the Knights of the Old Republic games which, being an RPG, had to allow characters to defend themselves against Lightsabers rather than having an instant death, so introduced the concept of 'Cortosis' vibroblades and armour. It served as an in-game explanation for why your opponents weren't falling in half, but it's still dumb and has no place in the movies.
